Anyone Running Full Catless w/Muffler Delete?
Just curious if anyone is running this setup. I am currently catless with muffler delete from the header back. I really like the sound and am just wondering how much louder it is going to get without the cat in the header when I buy headers.
Thanks |
If it doesn't bother you now, odds are you are deaf and its probably not going to matter anymore once you do the header. My car is loud with the stock front pipe and SRT catback at WOT, maybe not illegal for track use loud, but loud enough.
I can't even imagine how loud your car must be. lol you should just a big vinyl that says pull me over on the side of the car |
I live in Kentucky where hot rods and big muscle cars are the norm. We have no laws about how loud a car can and cannot be. And at WOT over 4k rpm, it gets pretty quiet. Almost stock quiet. Its only about 90db inside the car.

I'm cool with it. To each there own, right? I think it sounds great, others have said so too.

I love my exhaust set up im currently running borla uel headers catless perrin front pipe stock midpipe and berk muffler delete single tip exhaust. I dont usually have an issue with loudless as long as I drive through neighborhoods conservably which isnt very hard to do but it deffinitely turns heads in a positive way and was told at the track my car sounded like a wrx driving down to the starting line. Just an all around great agressive boxer rumble that can get loud really quickly but sounds bad ass regardless.
|
I have this set up, I just haven't tried it. I'd imagine it's pretty loud. Similar to a race car. Probably sounds great around 5k rpms but it probably gets old.

Basically if you doesn't bother you then go for it, but it will certainly be loud. |

You might want to put in a big resonator somewhere to kill the rasp. With a header an no cats at all it'll be REALLY raspy.
|
It's borderline painful at higher rpms. just be prepared. its a personal preference and everyones sensitivity is different.
|
My ears bleed for you, OP.

I have the Motiv Concepts Over Pipe with the Motiv Test Pipe and the Greddy Evo 3 Cat back, I put the silencers in cause the other day my son and I went to sonic and they asked me to shut the car off cause they couldn't hear my order.:burnrubber:
|
I have clear straight pipe all the way back from the stock overpipe, ending right after the rear diff. Its the perfect loudness for me, but I definitely want that boxer rumble from the UEL headers. Spitting flames would just be the gravy on top :) hahaha

Im thinking of going with this kind of setup. |
SO I haven't gotten a video yet, but I did use a DB meter to take some more measurements. At idle, it is anywhere betweens 60-65db. At 65-75 it is between 90-95db. At 80+ it is between 85-90db. I noticed the higher up in the rpm range the quieter it got. I rowed through a couple gear a few times to see what the maximum db was and the highest I got was 102db.
I try to get some video soon. |
I got my headers on this weekend and am now fully catless :) love the smell of raw fumes. It's not too raspy at all.

Diggin it. Did you get EL or UEL header?
|
His video is titled Borla UEL BRZ Catless lol
that actually sounds awesome @midnight23...but the Q300 probably has something to do with keeping it tame/not raspy. |
try going for a AVO turbo UEL headers into a nameless overpipe/front pipe combo and ending with a straight 3 in dual exit with a magnaflow resonator added for kicks.
That's a truly sacrilegious sound. |

Hey guys, am wanting your opinions on how the following would sound:
Revworks UEL header > Motiv Overpipe > Motiv High flow cat front pipe > Agency Power Catback VS Revworks UEL header > Motiv Overpipe > Motiv test pipe/front pipe > Agency Power Catback Do you think running catless would make it raspy? Even though the agency power catback has 1 resonator & the 2 angles mufflers near the tips? Thanks in advance |

Thanks Nick, although the above video doesnt sound very raspy at all?
(Sorry, i mean the video on page 1) |

Waiting on my Berk track pipe. Decided to go with it 1. Because it was cheaper than their high flow cat & 2. Because noise. I already have the dual tip muffler delete and after reading this thread I'm kinda debating on installing it. Don't want to get an outrageous fine. So does anyone in Cali have this setup or a video? If so has anyone been pulled over and gotten a ticket? Thanks.

I currently have the berk dual exit muffler delete and it sounds amazing. The only issue is that it has some drone at the lower RPMs. I'm too lazy to find the link on the forums, but someone had their muffler shop fabricate a muffler in the muffler delete to reduce the drone, and they said it worked like a charm. I'm also looking to get a catless resonated front pipe soon as well. I'm hoping a catless resonated front pipe + muffler delete won't be TOO loud, my only concern is drone. As for Forced induction..looking to do it in the future..don't know if this setup will work for it though. Anyone have thoughts?

Yes!!! I finally put the Berk catless front pipe on. With the muffler delete axle back the most drone you'll hear is arojnd 2k RPM. It takes a few hundred miles for it to quiet down a little. I think it sounds so much better than all those quiet bitch ass exhausts. Not the best video but all I need to do is get a mount for my handy cam.

I currently have installed a resonated perrin catback, catless invidia frontpipe, perrin overpipe and revworks uel and it is too quite for me. I am contemplating selling the perrin catback and either going with the berk dual exit or something like a louder catback such as Invidia N1 or Greedy EVO 3. What are your opinions. I bet headers + muffler delete + catless fp will sound amazing
