Turbo BRZ smashes a Supercharged v8 in a drag

I WISH I HAVE A VIDEO FOR THIS!

Was at the Eastern Creek Drag Races here in Sydney Australia, last Saturday. A Turbo BRZ did a 10.219 secs quarter mile and smashed a FPV GT (ford performance vehicles, a Australian performance division of Ford, similar to TRD with toyota). The FPV GT stock has 335kw (450hp) at the wheels. The FPV GT is rear wheel drive and weighs 1700kg (3780lbs). The GT got a 11.411 secs quarter mile and had exhaust mods by the looks of it.

If the Turbo BRZ owner is on this forum, show yourself! All love :thumbup::thumbup:

So was the Ford an actual GT, meaning the mid engined supercar with a twin screw SC and dry sumped V8? Or was it a Mustang GT with a supercharger?

Looks to be neither but just a Ford Falcon

Left disappointed. So was the Ford an actual GT, meaning the mid engined supercar with a blown and dry sumped V8? Or was it a Mustang GT?

HAHAHA! I watched that video so many times before for them giggles!

The Ford was not the GT nor was it a Mustang GT. It is a Australian FPV (Ford performance vehicle) GT, that has a quadcam supercharged v8 (also the same engine in the Jaguar XKR) but FPV tuned it to get more power.

The australian government doesnt like Ford, because it eats away at Holden and Chevrolet's market share. So Ford cannot make over-powerful cars. Ford makes the GT and said that it is 450hp was at the crank, but it is actually 450hp at the wheels so the government wont know.

Yes thats right. Unless my eyes are failing me. It was the 400m sprint. 400m = 1/4 mile.

pfft silly metric system. 400m= 1312' 8' short of a quarter mile.

Crook, please you need to find out who owns that black turbo BRZ. Search all the boosted BRZ's in Sydney! If better, bring your car down to the drags at Eastern Creek on a Saturday night :D

I'd love to but I'm on the Gold Coast so ill be hopefully heading down to willow bank to test it sometime.. Mines currently getting tuned on e85 and I was hoping to have the highest hp in australia out of a stock internal fa20 but I could be behind the ball now

No way that BRZ is on stock internals. Im suspecting a turbo of Garrett GTX3582R or even better, running at 25+ psi? 1000cc injectors? with an crawford performance S3L-I short forged block. As these are the only ones selling in Australia? im guessing.

SnapOv3st3r 04-26-2013 09:35 AM

Damn, was expecting to see vid.

The fullblown car is on a stock block running that turbo with a similar amount of boost pushing some crazy Hp

It has been lasting and still is :iono: I have yet to see this black brz you speak of but from what I've seen and it kills me to say it..... But the yanks are smashing us as far as development and limits on this car :sigh:

vinnie86gt 04-26-2013 10:43 PM

I'm pretty sure the fullblown car with the stage 2 kit is running on E85 aswell, makking it that bit more 'safer' than running 25psi on 93/98 petrol

Just to reinforce your point of view, there is no other way to go over 20 psi, you REQUIRE to use E85. 93/98 would go BOOOOOOMMMMM

True that! 90% of the cars at drag events run on E85. The 10% that run on 93/98 are mostly NA 4 bangers that go to drags to versus other NA 4 bangers (ahhh the nostalgiac days where i used to drag my friends Integra Type S with my Celica). There's a gas station close to Eastern Creek that has E85, and the queue at that station is worse than rush hour in Manhatton!

Is the 10.2 car a 2J swap by chance?

I wish i could find out. I was on the stands with my binoculars. And all i can hear from the BRZ is the turbo. Dont think it had twin turbo like the 2JZGTE. The FPV GT smashed it from the line for about 3 secs and its wheels got traction almost immediately. The BRZ rear wheels spun for a while and smoked and then got traction. Then turbo kicked in, i heard it very faintly over the supercharged v8 exhaust roar.

davidp 05-13-2013 08:46 PM

putting a 2jz in a car like this is pointless imo .. it would be like putting an anchor in front of a miata ..

2forme 05-13-2013 09:43 PM

But but but turbo is so much hotter than sc. This can't be true!

LeeMaster 05-13-2013 09:54 PM

Did the car sound like this?

Not sure if it is back up and running. Last I heard he wasn't chasing crazy numbers or 1/4 mile times.

For those wanting the highest hp 86 in Oz you'll need well over 300rwkw. That's the most I've seen to date.

Do you know if that's from a custom kit or if an off the shelf job?
Mines been at the dyno the last few weeks (after hours) trying to tune it using BRZedit as that's the program my tuner wants to use and is starting from scratch.. I just want to drive it already lol
