In the process of developing and testing our very own engine pulleys.

I like the design nice machining.

Are you testing them with a higher rev limit?

RD1428 04-25-2013 10:19 AM

Looking good what's the weight?

Calum 04-25-2013 04:29 PM

Just an FYI

I had a pulley with a spoked design on my car for a few months. After a while I realized it was collecting dirt in the apex of the spokes, which seemed to unbalance the engine. I could feel it running rougher and was getting a burnt oil smell after high rpm use. I went back to stock and everything is back to normal. The installation was done correctly, there was no wobble, the key and o-ring were seated properly.

I don't know if my experience was a singular event, I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue.

Yes, I will be testing them to 8,100

Thanks Markitect! We have a couple sets prototyped and our cars for testing. Simmons is using them on his AutoX car.

Calum - That is really odd because you would think that the dirt would collect equally in between the spokes. I have never heard of this happening. The only thing I can think of is that the pulley might have been out of balance from the get go.

I checked and re-checked but it was running true. :iono: It seemed odd to me to which is why I didn't think about the pulley right off. I'm still not 100% convinced because of how odd it is, but the dirt was there and the problem is gone.

I haven't heard of anyone else, on any model of car, having this issue so I'm 99.99% sure yours will be fine aswell. I only mentioned it because you seem to still be in an R&D phase and this might be something you'd like to test before going to market. I certainly wont be criticizing if you find it's not a worry.

While i do love having our parts plugged, I do not condone posting on other companies Threads unless we are asked a direct question.

As a CNC machinist i have to say that pulley looks pretty kickass. I've always wondered if a design like that would whistle. Only one way to find out.
Keep up the good work.

Tom

Any idea on the weight of these pulleys?

continuecrushing 04-30-2013 04:36 AM

Looks sick, in for weight as well

Those are awesome!

TRD_07 04-30-2013 05:37 PM

Wow, very cool. Will this be the only finish or will other colors be available?

There is no finish on the prototypes in the pictures but we plan on offering them black and clear anodized. Offering different colors is difficult because of the amount of SKU's that generates.

ahaghshenas 05-01-2013 02:54 PM

What pulley is the one pictured with a bearing ??

continuecrushing 05-01-2013 04:23 PM

nice, very lightweight!

TRD_07 05-01-2013 04:26 PM

I actually like them as they appear. Any issues with cel so far?

markitect 05-06-2013 05:11 PM

Are these on a car yet, I can't wait to hear more.

Norkoastal 05-06-2013 05:38 PM

Wow... lost of weight reduction there. Glad i've been waiting for parts like these!

So you are planning to do the non ribbed Idlers as well? Very cool! Will the idlers be available separately?

I am really liking these. :w00t:

We will have pricing once we get our production machining cycle times. The production material is ordered but our machining centers have a lot of work scheduled. It is going to be a couple of weeks. When I have a better idea of a release date, we will do a group buy!

No issues with check engine lights!

Awesome, I am very much interested in these!

Any idea of when these might be available for a GB sale?

Hey, the production material is on order and we have them scheduled into our shop. I will have a better idea of when we will start the group buy when we start making aluminum chips! Please check back on this thread, I will post updates when we start machining. Thanks!

These do look interesting. Love light weight mods.

Atleast red please? :p

These look awsome!

Raceseng 06-06-2013 10:05 AM

Just a heads up fellas, the machining production of the pulleys started today. Exciting time at Raceseng, we are watching our FR-S/BRZ product line start up!

Zaneman 06-06-2013 10:12 AM

I am excite. Please offer other colors.

Awesome! Hopefully the GB is as awesome as these pulleys. Will they be offered as a package or also available separately? Thanks.

sierra 06-07-2013 10:29 PM

Since it often gets mentioned and seems to have substance, how hard would it be to have the crankshaft pulley fitted with a damper of lighter proportions?
I would worry about resonant vibrations in the crankshaft doing away with it all together.
Is there any other way to solve the problem?

Beautifully made and designed pulleys. I'm a total fan.

You won't need that with this motor design, you can search but basically due to the crankshaft length it is an non-issue.

Glad to see you guys are putting this on the queue, I hear there's another product with, say, some o-rings, just around the corner ;)

After visiting your site I feel very comfortable taking your word for that.
Thanks.
