I'm a pioneer guy.. Always ran them.. Always loved them.. I wanted the best one I could find WITHOUT a motorized screen.. So I went with their new line up and picked this up

I really can't wait for the "next generation" models due out in a couple years.. Bluray, built in WiFi and the works... They have WiFi models now, but I haven't seen a useable bluray/WiFi hotspot radio thats consumer friendly, but alas I've been out of the hifonics game for quite some time now |
I personally went with the Kenwood DNX570HD and I must say I love it! Build in Nav, DVD, BT, touchscreen, the works.

Pioneer guy here as we'll. I got the AVIC-X940BT because it looks similar to the navi in the Gt86 and BRZ. Really nice fit as well. Oh yea and was half price @ Best Buy.

I went for an Alpine W925R. Has sat nav of course but as well as all the usual stuff it also has DAB which IMO is well worth it.

Using an avic x940bt
Great unit no issues, what I couldn't live without was a physical round volume knob haha. Great eq customizablility, only wished the interface looked cooler like some other displays now $450ish off amazon marketplace a year ago http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...psd43809fa.jpg |

Question about video playback...on X950 and Z150 only support .MP4 format and on 400x240?? is that correct???
I saw the Kenwood is able play 720P on .MPG, .MP4, .MKV etc format... can someone confirm that? |
See, I want one that works with the built in USB/mic/aux. I was planning on waiting for the pioneer one that was previews on the 10 series FR-S, but I'm wondering if there are any other units that are plug and play?
|
Question on NAV radios. Does an aftermarket NAV install use the built-in GPS antenna (I assume there is one for the BeSpoke)?

I went with the Pioneer app radio 2, i had my audio place run the cables into plugs for HDMI and USB in the stock location. i have pictures in my garage thread. I believe a link shows up on the left under my ID and info.

In regards to the 10series radio, if the bespoke is being sold from 400$ and up.. You going to be paying a whole bunch for a ok radio.. I happen to love my bespoke, does everything I want it to.. But just moving to Las Vegas, and then finding out net10 unlimited data isn't really unlimited, I have to have a GPS source, and this head unit was a perfect fit.. I'm thinking you'll be paying 800+ for a 10series radio and for that price, you can get a lot more radio for the money aftermarket wise |

Just FYI, type the coordinates 000000N 0000000E into google maps. You're all looking for me in the wrong direction ;) |

So, where do you install that new mic? |
So where are people putting their GPS antenna for the aftermarket units?

The aux input will require some soldering. Either A- from the back of the aux connector, or B- tap into the same wires/connector behind the radio. A user here was supposedly making a connectorized aux adapter, but he hasn't responded to any PM's. |

Didnt look all through this but Metra finally has a single din dash kit out. The model number is 99-8236. Seems to fit pretty nicely if you use the supplied brackets and ISO mount. The supplied trim ring fits nice as well. Id use it before any of the other kits available. Granted its for single dins and not double dins but just an fyi

Thinking of the Kenwood Excelon Series, they are VERY nice. Viewed one in a guys FR-S last weekend, impressive features and fit & finish is tops.
|
I vote for the head unit that @nzer has. Blows the Kenwoods, Pioneers, etc out of the water on features and is much, much cheaper. :)
