Engine Noise on Turbo FRS
 

Hello Guys

i just got my FBM Base Kit installed and i love it.

but since day 1 it has this noise. it didnt have it when it was NA.

can you guys confirm that this is normal.

Hey thats coming from inside. could just be timing but id check that out. no pressing out till you sort it out.

Which noise?

I can hear:

- air con clutch at 4 seconds and then a few times after that

- possibly a small exhaust leak at 23 seconds

Otherwise it sounds perfectly normal.

sound loud for a couple seconds but then it calms down again

That really didnt sound bad. Turn off ac add some low revs and repost. Is this your first turbo car?

Is it possibly the cooling fans hitting something? or the cooling fans themselves? I would try with A/C off

Yeah that's kind of a normal sound. It sounds a little different with every turbo. K24's click real hard.

Will, I didn't get what sound you are taking about until you posted this. That is the sound of the Bosch injectors. They are a little noisy but that is completely fine.

Agreed. Bigger injectors louder clicking. My 1.8t had loud injector click. Car ran like a dream on high boost ,25psi

I vote for maybe the exhaust hitting somewhere. When you have AC on, the whole motor vibrates more than usual, and the exhaust might be close enough in some point and you get that sound.

i was gonna say.. all i hear is the ac compressor cycling and the injectors clacking..... sounds a lot like a 4b11t actually.

Also, keep in mind that exhaust and intake routing has changed and you'll get a little more resonance or different sound from the two.

My car sounds very similar, ive been running FI now for almost 10k miles and it still sounds like this. Its the injectors, I have 700cc DWs and they are really loud. The crickets eventually become less pronounced which worries me because I dont want it wearing the pump out and possibly failing. Running the car with AC on at idle will also cause a few different sounds, add in a 6 puck clutch and the car sounds broken at idle with ac on.

The more I think about this, I have noticed also that my engine has a weird sound over the crickets now and based on this thread, it is definitely the bigger injectors.
