Guerilla Racing Scion FR-S Buildup

Hey guys,

Since we sell a lot of parts for the FR-S, it was only fitting that we have a demo car with parts we sell.

UPDATE from our blog:

Guerilla Racing Scion FR-S : Now with Megan Racing OE-RS Exhaust

http://blog.guerillaracing.com/wp-co...scion-fr-s.jpg
We are extremely happy to have Megan Racing on board as a sponsor for our shop car build as they have helped us out with their Track Series Coilovers and the new OE-RS Cat-Back Exhaust System with Burnt Blue'd Tips.

This full cat-back exhaust literally just landed in the USA and we were among the lucky first few to receive one.
http://blog.guerillaracing.com/wp-co...ion-fr-s-3.jpg
It was a very straightforward install that took at most 1 hour using simple hand tools and jack stands placed along the driver side.

Everything bolted in to place perfectly and there was little modification needed for adjustment on the rear hangers to make the exhaust tips fill the rear openings just right. The exhaust makes for a very deeper and pronounced tone in the lower RPM range.

We are filming a video so you can hear how it sounds during acceleration and normal driving both inside and outside the car. Stay tuned for this!
http://blog.guerillaracing.com/wp-co...ion-fr-s-2.jpg
We are still loving our Buddy Club P1 SF Challenge wheels in matte black as they give off the stealth time attack look that we were going for.

They are a great fit for the FR-S, especially with its low price tag compared to other comparable JDM wheels. Our wheel size is 18x8.5" +40 all around with 235/40/18 Falken tires.

Even with our lowered stance, we have no issues at all with rubbing or fender clearance. While a lot of people opt for the staggered look on their FR-S, we thought a square setup would be a more practical route for more even tire wear and the ability to rotate the tires also.
http://blog.guerillaracing.com/wp-co...rker-clear.jpg
One little accessory that we added were the JDM Clear Side Markers as pictured above. The previous markers were amber and not as contoured. You know what they say... "it's all in the details!"

It's really nice so far. It's very deep and especially loud during 2.7k - 3.5k RPMs. Visually it is stunning with the two highly polished chambers and the burnt tip just sets it off.

I can't find any videos of this exhaust besides the one that is up on the website. Debating to either get this one or Invidia N1.

Gotcha, yeah that's the only video available so far for this exhaust since it just came out. We will be doing a video here that should be up within about a week if you want to hold tight - I'll post up outside / interior shots of it.

Thanks!
Spencer

We are still loving our new Megan Racing OE-RS Exhaust for our Scion FR-S project and wanted to share the awesome sounds that is produces. Being a full cat-back exhaust, it opens up the exhaust note very noticeably and you can hear the engine in all its glory. Besides the technical power gains, having the louder exhaust note is great for driving as you feel more "as one" with the car.

Initial thoughts on the exhaust:
  • Aesthetics :
Beautiful design with full one-piece mid-pipe and twin chambered rear exhaust tips. Fully polished / stainless steel lends to a unique effect when you're looking at the car from the rear. The burnt blue tips are positioned well and don't extend too far out from the bumper. It's a nice touch as you don't notice the exhaust immediately (it doesn't jump out at you), but when you do, you instantly notice the high quality. The 4" tips fill the rear exhaust arches perfectly and it looks like the exhaust came from the factory this way.
  • Install :
Install took less than an hour overall including jacking the driver side up (2 jack stands), removing OEM mid-pipe and exhaust, and installing new mid-pipe and exhaust. This thread on FT86CLUB helps out for DIY installers which can be done easily by yourself or with the help of a friend. The exhaust included everything we needed to install it to our FR-S including bolts & gaskets. There was no cutting or welding necessary and everything bolted in place on the OEM locations.
  • Sound :
As mentioned before, the exhaust note is very noticeable when driving with both windows up and down. The sound reverberates well in to the cabin and makes you feel more connected to your throttle control. The best exhaust noise until full throttle comes from 2.6k - 3.6k RPM and is sounds amazing when down shifting or letting off the throttle. Check out the video below for a cold start-up and RPM range revving at standstill.
  • Overall :
This is the best cat-back exhaust when it comes to bang-for-your-buck for the Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ. With pricing at less than $700 SHIPPED through Guerilla Racing and available in both fully polished or burnt tips, this exhaust is a home-run for any FR-S / BRZ owner looking to add some power and get a better exhaust note.

Right now we are in a small office for internet sales only, no physical install shop yet.

You know it! Maybe after winter though :) We are still loving our TOM's tail lights, I think they are the best look for the car. How are yours? We need a TOM's front lip for our FR-S next!

I just looked at your build thread -- the BRZ is looking nice and clean!

Khazzy 12-31-2013 01:06 AM

Thanks Guerilla Racing, I am actually out of country right now so definitely after winter haha. I totally agree with the TOM's tails. Hands down best aftermarket tails out there. Pretty much done changing the look of the car minus a few little details, maybe a different set of wheels too when I get back. My tails are doing great! I get nothing but compliments about them or ask me where I got them. Tell them from you all and the cannot believe how cheap they were too, especially coming from TOM's.

I miss driving my car, even looking at it.

Right on, well you're not missing much here since it's hard enough to drive the car as it is in the snow :P

Thanks for the nice words and for the referrals!

Those 16s look great on that car. How much do they weigh? The 4x100 38ET would look great on a MR-S.

Thanks! I really dig the way it looks especially with that old school flair it adds.

They weigh around 20lbs I believe. I agree, they would look great on an MR-S! The Compe design goes perfect with smaller body cars, and of course the original 86:
