FR-S / BRZ interior revealed in high resolution

1 Attachment(s)
Here is the clearest and best look yet at the upcoming interior for the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. Each manufacturer will likely add their own badging and other distinguishing parts and perhaps offer different leather/cloth/color combinations, but this is the basic layout and functionality that the FR-S and BRZ interiors will feature.

What looks great to us is that it’s a bit of a spartan interior (compared to the average offering in late model cars) so that the focus is clearly on the driving experience. For example, the tachometer is front and center and the largest gauge, the shifter is close and readily at hand, and the pedal placement will allow for easy heel-toe driving. We dig it.

SubaruSam91 11-07-2011 02:08 AM

I actually cant stop looking at it

Giccin 11-07-2011 02:10 AM

OoOo. Almost broke both of my monitors. But that's ok.

Awesome work Hachi.

Are you waiting for WoW or ichi to fix it now? :D

Buggy51 11-07-2011 02:20 AM

There's a "Snow" button on the automatic? o_O

pkptd447 11-07-2011 02:28 AM

Honestly I love the interior, but I wish there was another color as the accent color in the high spec version. I've never been a fan of red, specially in the interior. White or maybe gray would be miles better for me.

aspera 11-07-2011 02:45 AM

What's taped off in the center of the steering wheel?

FT-86 Boxer Logo

RWD_only 11-07-2011 02:58 AM

Apart from the steering wheel, I love it (the red accents look a little to APC for my taste.) Overall, i'm thrilled.

Slide 11-07-2011 03:28 AM

Awesome!!

Thanks!

RRnold 11-07-2011 03:33 AM

I'm sold on those alcantara seats and red stitching! Thanks Hachi! :happy0180:

fernan2 11-07-2011 03:35 AM

Best car ever! I love all of it, both BRZ/FT-86.

stefan.MA 11-07-2011 03:52 AM

Did anyone notice that the clock is installed in different locations?
(compare the general view to the detailed view of the center console)

fernan2 11-07-2011 03:57 AM

Thats because one is right hand drive and the other is left hand drive! I think.

Also the second picture is on wide lens

stefan.MA 11-07-2011 04:13 AM

But the starter button is on the same side in both versions in the brochure?

The pic with the driver shows the starter button on the left side, in the brochure it's on the right side...

fernan2 11-07-2011 04:16 AM

Good point, now i dont know what to tell you. :iono:

stefan.MA 11-07-2011 04:20 AM

I'm a little confused too :)
I think Nov 30th will help... :D

Snow mode turns the boost down. *trollface*

The steering wheel is a bit odd, isn't it? Meh, as long as it's practical I don't mind. :D

WTF is with that big double-DIN size area in the middle of the dash, above all the interior controls? Looks like it might be a big blank for factory options (eg, nav screen), or, they purposely have a big spare blank on the dash for you to install gauges/aftermarket goodies.

Do like the interior though, overall it's a fair chunk of win.

goopi 11-07-2011 05:17 AM

Wow the cabin looks really comfortable!

I need to test drive one of these things when I get a chance, the 370Z was one of the best I've been in.

membersonly 11-07-2011 05:48 AM

damnnn. Gotta love that JDM style interior.

speed-wiz 11-07-2011 09:02 AM

The more detail we see, the more I like the interior.

That would be where your stereo goes, should you choose to purchase and install one. Otherwise you can put whatever you want there, gauges, beer storage, jellybean dispenser...

Snoopyalien24 11-07-2011 11:17 AM

Noticed a little detail that was incorrect so i touched up on it with a little photoshop magic.

btw... on my IS300, Snow mode is only if you actually get STUCK in snow... Extremely practical, even if you have the gas pedal to the floor, it'll only give small bits of power and takes you out of pretty much anything real fast.

no_name 11-07-2011 12:13 PM

Those pedals look really well spaced for heel-towing. And I like the idea of this 'Snow' feature. I had to dig myself out of the snow in my 86 so many times (always my fault for drifting through deep snow - it's just too much to resist).

Ryephile 11-07-2011 12:28 PM

Interesting, it doesn't appear the manual trans has a sport or snow button. It looks blank from what I can tell.

Also, the test-driven real picture shows a bright/metallic shifter surround, but I don't see that same finish on the scan. Could it be the lighting, or are they still fiddling with final interior trims?

Spaceywilly 11-07-2011 12:31 PM

If you have no grip (stuck in a snowbank), some traction control systems will not allow you to apply any power. My friend had a camry hybrid and he was stuck in a snowbank once and the undefeatable traction control wouldn't let him do anything, so he had to get towed out. Basically if the car doesn't know you are driving in snow it will think you are constantly in a huge skid and kill all the power. In snow mode it will allow some slippage, but still limit power if you start to really slide.

very "Lexus" like haha

farugah 11-07-2011 06:26 PM

bottom real life pic has the 86 logo in the middle of the steering wheel not sure if anyone has seen that yet ;) that one must be Toyota?

ZetaVI 11-07-2011 06:28 PM

At first I thought it was ok. But after looking at the hi-res pics I have to say it look awesome.

ydooby 11-07-2011 06:45 PM

Fantastic interior for the price/segment!

suprachica79 11-07-2011 10:24 PM

I'm really excited with this interior. It makes it easy for me to not buy a luxury brand (infiniti/bmw/lexus) and not really miss the amenities because this car seems to have many of them. Still hope there will be a leather option tho, I love my leather

WingsofWar 11-07-2011 10:31 PM

^ im a bit spoiled on leather recently. All my cars before had cloth seats. My current DD has leather and it feels soo good.

For my Rx, iv considered buying a set (x2) of used Brides LoMax for $900 and do a leather upholstery with aftermarket heating element inserts ($300). But I might save that idea for the FRS/BRZ

TeckniX 11-07-2011 11:24 PM

+1 on the alcantara + red stiching

Ah... that makes sense. Other articles alluded that its based on the IS/ISF platform for automatic transmission.
