The car is great and all but....

It will never hold a candle to the rush I get riding the bike. Pure unadulterated performance.

Just got back from a spin. All wiped down and ready for the next.

My bike makes me realize how slow everything else is in comparison.

F16s are great and all, but they don't hold a candle to the space shuttle.

:D

I have my private ticket. The bike is much faster than the Cessna 152 and 172's I've flown.

I'm envious. F16 and P51 are my dream planes to fly.

Seatbelts, crumple zones, and airbags... I'd kill myself on a bike.

Gixxersixxerman 04-16-2013 12:03 AM

Ahhh exactly.. I love my car.. But when I wanna have fun.. Go fast.. Really enjoy myself.. Nothing beats a sport bike..

And that's why I don't own an R6. Should I feel a bit less dumb and reckless before I turn 30, meet someone, or get on with that nasty business of a child...I will own a 600 class race bike.

I got my first ride on a Honda CB 650 last weekend, and had fun chasing it later.

Jahdai42 04-16-2013 09:19 AM

Bikes are great, it is the stupid drives with blinders on, putting on makeup, texting or just oblivious that scare the hell out of me.

I took my bike to work today, despite the 38 degrees. :) I'm not a squid or crazy person, truth is my other car (not the BRZ) is faster than my 2012 650.

Rayme 04-16-2013 10:13 AM

Sold my modded sv650s 3 months ago... nothing like riding in the mountains on 2 wheels for sure.

As a non-biker, it's the reckless ones that scare me. I try to be aware of all of my surroundings 100% of the time while I'm driving, and am even more cautious when I have my child in the car with me. Last year there was an incident where I'm getting ready to turn right on a red at an intersection, divided 4 lane road, and no traffic in my lanes. The opposite, oncoming lanes have a bit of traffic and a bike. I pull out into the road and a second or so later the biker flips an unsignaled wide U turn in the intersection and slams on his brakes right behind my car. He didn't hit me, but I looked in my rear view mirror to make sure he didn't dump the bike unexpectedly or something. Nope, he's just right on my bumper shaking his head, as if I'm the one at fault. It still pisses me off to see people ride recklessly and then get on their soapbox about how everyone around them is blind, etc.. :mad0260:

i love riding, but i've definitely paid my price for it over the years (4 crashes, 2 totaled bikes, broken wrist, left ankle, 2 ribs). 3 of the crashes were in the canyons, and one in the street (lady turned in front of me). at 45, i don't feel as invincible as i did at 20, and definitely don't heal as fast. i just started running again this month after recovering from that broken ankle (took a year).

as anyone who's been down on a bike can tell you, it's very unforgiving. you can make many mistakes in a car that you can't on a bike.

i don't push it in the canyons anymore - at least not to the extent i used to before my son was born. but i still enjoy the occasional ride to enjoy the scenery up angeles crest. haven't taken my son up there in the BRZ yet, but i will.

superbike school and track days at willow helped me ride slower in the street by exorcising my speed demons in a safer, controlled environment. anyways, here's the ride i still have left - '01 duc 996.

but i do agree - there's nothing like riding a bike, which involves full involvement of the rider's mind and body. the sound and sensation of scraping that knee on the ground in the corner, feeling the road through one inch of plastic covering your knee, beats the feeling of drifting the rear of a car, IMHO. but that's just me.

Half the time its the biker too. That guy with the GSX swerving in and out of lanes like a moron, then blames the driver for getting hit.

Sure, there are good bikers but there are and always will be douche bags.
Mostly the ones with the Mohawk helmet. :bellyroll:

Like me.

Giccin 04-16-2013 11:49 AM

I love being on the bike.

Only problem I have when on the bike are the dumbass drivers.

Been hit before and flew off. Fucker took off.
