All my LED's installed, they suck.

I dont want to mention what brand or dealer I got them from(yet), but just wanted others opinions on their led experience and vendor they used.

I have installed switchbacks and the front and rears suck for daytime use. The amber is very dim and can barely be seen. Nightime performance is great from the switchbacks but the rear turns are not as bright as stock bulbs.

The drl's I got both came seperated from the plug itself. It was an extremely brittle adhesive they used. The vendor said to epoxy they if they are stjll working which I did. :(

Another member and myself ordered our switchbacks together, he had a bad one that had to be returned.

The swithbacks require cutting away of the housing lock tabs to get the bulbs in place. Is this the case with others?

The drl also required way too much force to install as they are pushing the size limit of the opening.

I got a pair of amber led 194's for the side markers from an AutoZone, one died the secind time the car was started.

Never had so many issues with led's before. They are cheap chinese but come on.

Debating if I just want chromed bulbs instead.

You should post where you got them from so people on here know, and then the company itself can help and explain why the lights are not better. It does no good for anyone if you do not disclose who you are unhappy with.

I upgraded a bunch of my lights to LEDs from HID_Powerhouse (@KI_ZN6) several months ago and have had no issues. Sorry to hear about yours.

Area86 04-13-2013 06:20 PM

I have LEDs from @Concept 3 LED and haven't had any issues. I have their side marker lights, front and rear turn signals (which are both the same bulbs on the BRZ), reverse lights and courtesy door lights. All my lights are bright during the day and at night.

I got them from concept3led. I know others have had luck with them but wanted to know of any quality or brightness issues.

One good thing is he is great at getting back to you with emails.

What Diameter (mm) is your LED light bulb? 3528, 5050 or 5630?

Yruyur 04-13-2013 07:10 PM

Dont know the diameters. Any packaging I do have is in Japanese while still being made in China.

I got lights from Concept 3 LED. I got them around Christmas time and my front DRL went out. I expected that there would be some sort of warrenty, but When I asked the response was that they would only sell me a new set. So NO WARRENTY

You get what you pay for.. I got mine from Kenneth at HID powerhouse , I must say they are bright , really bright.
They also stand behind their products.

Nonono don't go to autozone.

My LEDs work great. I got them from Zeta Performance

SubaSteve 04-13-2013 08:02 PM

I purchased from one of the first vendors and most of my leds work fine. Problem is one of the license plate lights is already going out. Also I had issues with the wires that supply power not being long enough on some of them. I have a feeling most people supplying leds on this forum bulk buy from ebay and resell.

I felt like I should have bought the cheaper ones from china seeing as they aren't lasting anyways.

UnOvertime 04-13-2013 10:38 PM

I purchased the rear signals and switchbacks from Concept3LED. The color didn't match on the switchbacks (5k color match is much harder to find) so I sold them to a friend and he hasn't had any issues with them.

I have heard good things about HID Powerhouse, but I find their stuff horribly expensive.

I have some from HID powerhouse (internals and plates) and backups and turns from Precision LED. Everything is great for me.

I have DRL's, reverse, plate, and interior LED from HID Powerhouse. They all work great. The only gripes (which are minor) I have is that LED's so no do good for DRL's, and the 15 smd LED panel for the map/dome light gets a bit hot and I can't get it to stay in the middle of the light assembly.

I have the 12 LED panel and I stuck it to the flat area that's on the back of the dome light housing. (Closer to the back of the car) It hasn't moved and stays perfectly in the middle!

I can vouch for the LEDs I got from HID Powerhouse as well, great product!

CrazyWookiee 04-14-2013 12:16 PM

Got my bulbs from Kenneth at HID_Powerhouse. Haven't had a single problem with brightness or reliability.

More props to Kenneth. Hooked me up with the Frs package a while back. The license plate bulb went out and I contacted him and he took care of me. So much so I decided to upgrade from the cheap led to their new Flashbolt5, man that thing is extremely bright for rear turn signal. And yes I was disappointed that the old led was not as bright as the fb5.

What was the intensity on the interior led you bought? I've been meaning to upgrade the stock ones, but I'm afraid they would be so hot it'd melt the plastic covers (ie. Map light).

briang0901 04-14-2013 03:49 PM

Got my setup from True Street Industries, only had problems with 1 ballast and that was replaced free of charge, best customer service experience I've ever dealt with!

Gixxersixxerman 04-14-2013 03:51 PM

My interior dome light is from powerhouse, 15 chip I think.. I can say, you don't want to turn it on in the middle of night while driving.. It's blinding.. Any other time I love it.. Getting in and out the car at night it really shines.. But driving and flipping it on, you better be ready for your eyes to adjust for a bit

LED panels do heat up but it is perfectly fine to let it rest on the plastic lens cover and you will not have any melting or overheating issues.

We have LED interior upgrades from 6 LED (mild upgrade from OEM), 9 LED, 12 LED and 15 LED (max brightness). It all depends on your personal preference and how bright you would like your interior to be :D

RMStringer 04-14-2013 07:23 PM

I bought some LED Running lights from iJDMTDY to replace my running/hi beams and i had to remove the LED due to light loss at night. I live in a rural area and they looked pretty but were not good for driving.
