Varis Full Aero Kit Design

Hey guys, as some of you might know who we are as we've been around for over 10 years, specializing in sourcing any JDM parts you could ever want.

Currently, we're Varis' largest dealer and as we have a very close relationship with them, we were afforded the opportunity to visit the shop and then subsequently assist them in setting up their booth for Tokyo Auto Salon this year.

During the setup, they gave us an early chance to see their newest designs, including their sketch for the 86.

As we're also very excited about the FR-S and BRZ and already heavily involved in new product development for the platform, as well as sourcing our own car we wanted to join the community and show our stuff.

Do they have plans on making a wide body?

WingsofWar 01-18-2012 03:19 PM

front should atleast be 10mm wider since they are implementing a rear air evacuation channel.

Ohhh, I see. I hope they made the rear fenders wider, too. Varis usually just releases slightly wider front fenders at first, then later on they would go all out and come out with a wide body that would allow you to fit the widest possible tire.

I am sure Varis knows what they are doing haha I am a fan of their stuff :)

Dragonitti 01-18-2012 03:42 PM

Not really feeling it. Perhaps I will just have to wait till a pre-production piece is installed.

Yeah same here. Maybe those front bumper has too much stuff going on

GenkiElite 01-18-2012 04:23 PM

Nice! Fully integrated cheese slicers on the hood and bumper!

delongedoug 01-18-2012 04:42 PM

Bloody abortion.

Rome 01-18-2012 04:46 PM

The design is very reminiscent of Voltex Aero parts which I like. Canards will finish off the front but the only thing I really don't care for are the fogs/turn signals in the bumper which is obviously a requirement on the 86/FRS. The wheels could be better as well...lol

MrVito 01-18-2012 05:11 PM

Maybe not make it look like it came straight out of Fast and Furious 1

It's got to be that vented hood! :bellyroll:

Not feeling it at all!

Rampant 01-19-2012 11:58 PM

Hmm... a few tweaks and I think it could look great:

No offence but that kit looks hideous. WAYYY too busy.

@Rampant significant improvement, but is there any tasteful way of keeping the vents. They look like their intended to be functional. If you remove the function then all that's left is rice.

I only took out the front fender vents behind the tires. The rest I just reduced the number of "slats" to clean it up a bit.

mockngbrd 01-20-2012 03:04 AM

can't wait for it to be out! i trust Varis will do something really cool

Rampant 01-20-2012 04:34 AM

And since line art sketches just won't do:

Rampant 01-20-2012 04:37 AM

And the simplified version:

That, I like....

Awesome work, Rampant. Can you do simplified with deleted fogs, reduced slat, and bigger side vents all the way down?

Looks awesome Rampant, How about combine the frontal side vents from Varis to form something like the r34 frontal side vent (bit blow the indicator) + with single front lip instead of two.

Those side vents look like tumors :P

You guys are starting to redesign the kit, which wasn't really the intention.

But... since I love to play around with this stuff way too much--here is a version, sort of what you were describing (though not verbatim off the R34).

It looks great, but is not as unique as Varis' original design.

The sides were traced off the sketch. And, while I do agree with you -- I do see Varis trying to do something different, and that I always like to see. Even if it doesn't end up being something I particularly love.

:w00t:, Lol, we know, it's just far more rewarding seeing a concept kit that actually looks great on the 86. Thanks for doing the renders Rampant :D

Yes, I do agree that they are trying something different. Maybe it's not what I expected from them, but I can see some improvements are coming.

djdnz 01-20-2012 10:45 AM

The original kit is terrible. Rampant's improvements all look pretty nice though. I like the last one, but it doesn't really seem to flow with the rest of the car's character, needs a bit of tweaking.

ZetaVI 01-20-2012 11:19 AM

I like what you did Rampant. The renders are pretty awesome. I like your simplified version:thumbup:

I agree it could use some tweaking, but I think the point for a kit like that (even my last one) is to actually change the character of the car slightly.

ft86Fan 01-20-2012 12:06 PM

Great work Rampant. I like the simplified version also. When will you be manufacturing this kit? :)

Trust me, I would like nothing more than to get one of my kits built. Come close a couple of times..... :)

M-17 01-20-2012 12:45 PM

The simplified version looks nice and clean. I only have one problem with the original version with the extra vent stacked on another. If they delete that off I think it will keep the aggressive look they're going for.

+1 you're design is 10x better than varis's . . .

Maybe you and wings can team up and make super hella functional aero?

Edit. I'm sure there is but room for an intercooler would be welcome.

subatoy 01-20-2012 04:24 PM

oh boy!
so much rice!
this car will be plagued by rice!

poormans_LFA 01-20-2012 04:25 PM

if this thing had 600hp i'd understand on the ventilation, but w/ out all that power this kit looks like it's trying to hard to speak for not a whole lot of firepower. like a Gundam with no guns or missiles, what's the point?

GenkiElite 01-20-2012 05:30 PM

*More Power Sold Separately*

ft86Fan 01-20-2012 05:44 PM

I guess if one plans to get a body kit, exterior wise, there is really no difference between getting a FR-S or a BRZ.
