Ebay JDM insanity

trolling ebay as always, i searched "FR-S JDM". I know some people love that stuff, but i was not prepared to see the insanely ridiculous prices on some of the stuff....

steering wheel for 3000

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...3f658e&vxp=mtr

splitters for 998

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...46b7f0&vxp=mtr

fender inserts for 1198 :confused0068:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-TOYOTA-...d34ed4&vxp=mtr

wrapped interior pillars 998

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...3f70ac&vxp=mtr

unpainted trunk lip 798

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-TO...24c581&vxp=mtr

and i can go on, most of these ship directly from japan... by god... is someone buying these things.. I just bought a spoiler from zetaperformace, at a very decent price, but not at 900+

they must thin we are :bonk::bonk::bonk:

Synack 04-12-2013 11:44 AM

lol these are GTR prices

CaptainSlow 04-12-2013 12:22 PM

They sell it for that much because they can find people dumb enough to pay that much for what they have to sell. Low volume, high profit.

husker741 04-12-2013 12:38 PM

All because its "JDM".

People seem to lose their minds because it says jdm...

Dezoris 04-12-2013 12:49 PM

There are so many good companies now in the USA I don't know what the obsession is with people going off on JDM still. This isn't 1995 anymore.

dem00n 04-12-2013 12:59 PM

It's not just JDM, i see the same thing for GDM, USDM, SDM, BBW, BDSM, NRA. NRRA, NDA, PDM, PMS, NYPD, FBI, CIA.

SatinWhitePearl 04-12-2013 01:02 PM

JDM is dead, eBay and knock-off everything else killed it.

Retro86 04-12-2013 02:13 PM

you know there are other ways to get those items for a not so outrageous price.

Hanakuso 04-12-2013 02:14 PM

I remember my first time I went on the internet.

Yeah, like fly there and buy them.

It'd be cheaper to order the wheel into a dealership, fly to japan, buy it, and fly home.

campy 05-05-2013 11:10 PM

The important thing is... is there overnight shipping?

UncleFester 05-05-2013 11:50 PM

What about 60k for a Crawford turbo BRZ? I saw that on eBay earlier.

Thats not so much "JDM insanity".

I could see an FRS going for 60K with some serious performance upgrades, though i don't think that Crawford is worth 60k.

kioton32 05-06-2013 01:28 AM

Hell, I saw someone buy an "air guitar" for $3500... It was the funniest thing...

Really?
I want the nut spec aero kit sooo bad!

Rampage 05-06-2013 10:04 AM

I saw that too. I also noticed that they are not disclosing that it has been involved in a track accident and repaired. 60K for a used and abused sub 30K car. Good luck with that!

That's so stupid. Give me a company with Amuse's quality and craftsmanship and I'll give you a new FR-S

Nothing wrong with nameless, it's just stupid comparing nameless vs amuse. Totally different price range.

Paying more doesn't always get you more. Once the craftsmanship is good enough to outlive the car, and the design delivers significant improvement... who cares after that? having it cost $5000 doesn't make it inherently better.

Paying more doesn't always, but in this case, Amuse does.

Have you guys heard of the psychological experiment that compares peoples perceived values based on price?

You put a group of people in a room with identical items and tell them there is a difference in price between the two. Almost universally they will insist after careful inspection that the more expensive item is clearly built or manufactured better.

You can do a similar experiment with organic foods versus store bought. People assuming they are eating the organic will always say it tastes better, until you tell them they just ate the store bought version. You can take the same banana and cut it in half, tell them one is organic and the other store bought...they will insist there is a difference.

Brzetto 05-06-2013 06:48 PM

Our car was built in Japan, for all intents and purposes the US model is exactly same car except for steering wheel position and different badges for the FRS. The FRS will ultimately end up with 86 headlights anyway.

HotLeopardMama 05-06-2013 07:03 PM

Whew, Amuse is more than twice Milltek's price. Wow. No Thanks. It is a beautiful-looking system, though. O_o

tomato86 05-06-2013 07:22 PM

People here aren't educated on Powerhouse Amuse evidently. This has nothing to do with price. Their work is on top of the charts.

Except in this case the Nameless and Amuse exhaust are made from totally different materials.

The point was that just because something costs a lot(compared to itself), that doesn't make it great.

And conversely, just because something is inexpensive, it doesn't make it a turd.
