Perrin inlet vs. Zeta inlet

Hi All,

I am receiving my Perrin inlet tube today and was wondering,

Perrin's Inlet vs. Zeta's Inlet

Real differences I have noticed?

  • Perrin offers red, blue and black colors, not purple.
  • Zeta offers purple, red, black.
  • Both have a 3 inch diameter tube.
  • Perrin's is shaped a little bit different
  • Zeta's is very straight without much "bend" like Perrin's
Is there a big difference here or does it only come down to preference of color?

What I'd like to know is how smooth the Zeta inlet is on the inside. For my Perrin inlet, there's a few nicks and "potholes" on the inside of the tube. Also is the Zeta silicon as soft (or harder) than the Perrin?

I don't have any data to back this up but i feel that the larger radius curve on the Perrin one will be better when power levels increase as it will provide less resistance. However, on my otherwise stock engine i didn't notice much difference between the stock tube and perrin tube other than sound. Quieter in the cabin without the sound tube and a bit more induction noise outside the car.

I have a black zeta intake tube, so I know it's offered in more than just purple. It is 3" as stated by OP and the inside is as smooth as a baby's bottom. Never seen the perrin in person, so can't comment on the differences in material.

Mine was actually like that too. 1 little scratch but it was like less than 1/2 a mm so w/e. I just installed the Perrin and I am happy with it.

forzajuve 04-11-2013 01:03 AM

Agreed, I still have to drive around more tonight, but I did notice less cabin noise and perhaps a little better throttle response, but that could also not be the case.

You're right, sorry about that. I worded it badly. I should have said that the purple is the different/unique color that Zeta offers. The pics that the Zeta rep just posted seem pretty darn close to Perrin's design. There is more of a contrast with the Zeta (interior vs. exterior)

I just got mine today too man! Don't worry I think we are AY-Ok

How are you liking your Perrin?

It looks like the Zeta has an unreinforced inner liner that can be made perfectly smooth a bit easier, it's definitely a two material part vs the Perrin.

As far as design, there's only so many ways to connect point A and point B with a couple of extra ports here and there. Make the two parts out of the same material and they're going to look similar.

The Perrin flares out and back a bit on the curve to get a slightly larger radius. My gut tells me the difference is negligible but it's a nice touch. I kind of like the liner on the Zeta.

I like my Perrin Intake tube. Got it on yesterday, cant really tell a difference but it looks alot better than the stock one.

and darn those weeping angels, aaahhhh

Craig 04-12-2013 09:28 PM

I've got the Zeta, been nothing but happy with it so far, and the purple really pops! I'm probably going to end up looking into the radiator kit to class up my bay a bit more. Sorta fell in love with the Zeta exhaust when I saw it too, but that's a whole other issue.

Captain Snooze 04-12-2013 10:03 PM

Ummmm...I'm not really sure what this thread is about. The two products look so similar I don't think there is much to differentiate between the two.

Lverasky 04-13-2013 06:27 PM

I just order my radiator kit from @ZetaPerformance today, can't wait for the kit arrive to install..I will post pic. Thanks for the great service from Stephen @ZetaPerformance.

This might be a dumb question...but would either of these void the warranty?

Brought my car back to the Toyota shop 2 weeks ago, had oil change, and etc. No issue at all.

The Toyota crew was surprise to see all the MODs on the car, they don't question it a word.
