Release Series
Anyone else gonna wait for it?
Ive got a strong feeling that they will release one in 1-2 years time with: 1. Push Button 2. Digital Hvac 3. LED Lights (unlikely) Any other features you guys would like to see on the production model? |
Fog lamps, leather seats, and heated/cooled seats, rear spoiler. Something along those lines. I could care less about push button start, I'm not lazy enough that I can't turn a key. Digital HVAC sounds cool though! :)
|
Probably crazy color with lip kit make over.
|
Proximity key with push start makes the car more convienent. No need to fumble for a key. Just walk up get in and push the button to start it.
Even hyundai's have promitity with push start. A release series FR-S will have it. And maybe even the 2014 model year...for people who wait. hIDs should have been standard.... |
Fog lights and a very nice color that I would take over asphalt, I don't understand push button start I enjoy turning the key.
|
I don't fumble for my key now! :) I have a separate key chain with just my car key and remote on it, it's always in my hand well before I get to my car. Yes, I admit, push start is neat, but, personally I don't need it. I'm not gonna say it shouldn't be an option though, I'd probably love it after having a car with it for a short while. LOL.
|
Its one of those things that you gotta experience first hand and long term to understand.
2 out of our 3 vehicles have it and its so handy. Makes it quite easy to re arrange our drive way with 1 set of keys :) |
I know people who don't have the proximity with push start just don't understand how good it is. Oh well to each their own.

This and one of the optional TRD wheels as standard. Also some type of color matching on the interior....That's normally what the release series' are....or close to at least |

The rest I'm not bothered about. |

If a release series basically brings a Euro specced GT86 over here, i'd be all over it.
Wonder what crazy colour they would use though? |
I have a feeling they will release Racing Yellow special edition next year.
Damn.... Do I wait a year or trade it in for a Yelllow one next year? Damn... I will be eternally envious if I don't get a Yellow one. |

Realistically the Release Series aren't much different and isn't worth the wait or money. Maybe the Fr-S could be different, but so far all they have been are bright paint jobs, a lip kit and small interior differences like stitching and different shift knobs etc. Not really worth it in my opinion but to each his own.
|
Maybe it'll have an LS9 in it. Anyone think about that? It's very likely.

After my key broke on me while I was in an alley last month (not a super scary one, but it was 9:30 at night, and my car was in the middle of it) I have never wanted a push to start more. Sorry for the horrible picture but I can't believe that only a tiny portion of the metal part of the key is inside the black part. I mean I paid how many thousands of dollars for this car and they can't put more metal on the key so it doesn't break and almost get stuck in the ignition?! Push to start!!!

I'm waiting to see a RS FR-S or a similar variant on the Subaru side. I don't want to get hyped up on the first batch of cars since the most significant manufacturing improvements ("kaizens" in Toyota-speak) are usually made at the beginning of a manufacturing run while smaller kaizens get discovered throughout all years of the model's life.
I've never owned nor had a desire for push start but after driving my mom's Prius a few times I definitely want it on my next car. Less fumbling around when you fill up for gas or figuring out whether you're on "ACC" or "ON" and no worrying about locking your keys in your car. Nice perk when working on your car; your hands will be more free and keys won't get misplaced among any tools laying around. Literally frees your mind from many small nuisances (which add up). It also keeps your steering column from getting scratched up by your key. Who here enjoys scratching up the interior of their car? |

^Those are the extra motions that I say can be completely eliminated & they don't stop the steering column from getting scratched up!

On another note, if the battery dies on your keyless fob, you can still get in, and start the car. There's a backup key hidden in the fob which will open the drivers door. From there, you simply need to put the fob next to the start button, which assuming that has power from the car battery, will pick up the immobiliser chip. You can then press the button and start the car and go find a battery. Toyota's Smart Entry and Push Start is the best toy I've ever had on car, it's intelligent enough to know exactly where you're standing around the car... for example, If I was stood at the back of the car, no one can open the car at any door, other then the back. Same if I was stood on the passenger side, with the key fob, no one could open any other door. Trust me, take a chance, and go with it if it's an option, you will not regret it. It's not like the crude setup you see on those cheap American cars like that Dodge Challenger or Fords. |

I like this keyless option, so what if one leaves car running, gets out to idk pick up something, does the car shut off or what happens?
Ive never really been in that situation, because ive never been ina car with keyless entry |

A car loaded with all the TRD goodies from the lip kit to the brakes and suspension setup would be nice. Maybe a special color and id be happy.
Though i dont think i could wait that long >_> |

Hopefully an option it will be....along with the HIDS. |
Yep i really want it. My moms sonata has it and its great and quite smart. Wont turn on the car unless its on the drivers side. If you try and throw the key in the back or the passanger seat it wont turn on. The farthest you can put it is the center cup holders. Its so handy when your hands are full
