N/A or N/A?

So, which one guys!?

Remember, boost is for people that drink fruity beverages with little umbrellas in their glasses, order mochachokabochalate's, and shop at the Gap, wear shell necklaces and say "bra" and "bro" to you all the time, and eat chicklings fresh from the hatching.

N/A people drink hard liquor, coffee straight up black, spit fire, crap lightning, save kittens from tree's and rampant turbo's flying off cars, and combine their powers to form Captain Planet.

This is all backed up by absolute scientific fact. Choose your side wisely!

RegisBou 01-21-2010 04:06 PM

N/A

Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, JW Black, Wild Turkey 101, coffee black every time.

Throttle response!

Axel 01-21-2010 04:55 PM

looks like OldSkoolToys was indulging in some of that hard liquor before he made this poll! :)

I think he needs to go and crap lightning... he seems to overly full of it today. :bellyroll:

OldSkoolToys 01-21-2010 05:03 PM

You're just jealous you never got an element ring. Don't worry! Captain Planet still loves you!

As I said to the other thread, FI is a bit feminine. I agree (besides the saving kittens part, I hate cats) with the N/A route.

With turbo, even a girl can drive fast. I prefer natural aspiration for its sound, linear curves, throttle response, reliability and high revving nature.

FI is good for diesels though...

I wish i could say the same :( soon though.

I honestly would not mind a NA ft as long as it revs pretty high

Can you do that? (i never worked with a flat motor before)

EDIT- after thinking about it I don't see why not. throttle linkage/ synchronization could suck.

Lexicon101 01-21-2010 10:02 PM

I think it'd be hilarious to hear this thing going "Tututututututu"....

OldSkoolToys 01-21-2010 11:14 PM

n/a is neck and neck with n/a.

Its a close battle!

Siriusly.Andrew 01-21-2010 11:43 PM

Just Because, Im going to break even with NA!!

EDIT :: I've never drank my coffee black on purpose, but its happened. I can confirm that I've crapped lightning... and I have dreams of fighting economical crime with some crazy green leotards!
dunno about spit fire, but I've had a wicked case of projectile vomit after drinking too much straight liquor.

Franisco 01-22-2010 12:09 AM

If its like the F20C, twin-charge..

Jordo! 01-22-2010 01:04 AM

N/A??? Are you high? Is this getting a big block V8 or something? :bellyroll:

stevens8 01-22-2010 11:10 AM

I don't know very much about subaru/toyotas but I wonder if this motor will respond well to bolt ons? I've owned an rsx for about 3 years and from the different mods i've done, it responds pretty well to just bolt ons. If this thing could make 200-210whp with just bolt ons and a tune that would be nice.

RegisBou 01-22-2010 03:04 PM

It might not respond as well since the engine will be super engineered. They will try to squeeze every last bit of HP until emissions is a problem.

I'm guessing if it comes out with 203bhp then I/H/E would be around a 10-20 whp bump? Making it close to 200whp if not more :iono:?

Equal length headers, nothing larger than 2.25", intake (take your pic) or ITB's, Single exit exhaust (more flow), a pro-tune with 91,93, or E85, and some drivetrain stuff you should IMO have a great car.

Imagine 220whp without fail wheel drive :) I have it too and well i'm tired of pulling

For the target weight of the car...its pretty f'n similar

Eh... not quite. It's going to need around 1 - 1.2 bhp per 10 lb of vehicle to piss off the guys in Mustangs and Camaros.

Last I heard, the turboed version will be in that ball park, but not N/A.

Even better would be 1 - 1.2 whp per 10 lb.

Axel 01-22-2010 06:59 PM

I'd take a N/A version... if it was 285 hp, lightweight, and sat low in the frame...

Since that isn't bloody likely... FA all the way!

plus FA is probably cheaper, more reliable, and produces power throughout the curve...

Jordo! 01-22-2010 07:17 PM

^^^ Not to mention that if the motor can handle boost and it's already turboed, it's not all that hard to increase the power.

N/A power upgrades tend to be pricey (and relatively minimal) on a small motor that's already been well tuned from the factory.

Axel 01-23-2010 09:31 AM

I've discovered OldSkoolToys previously secret n/a dream car project being displayed at TAS !! (I think Captain Planet helped him with it!) Now, if it had a FI engine it might be able to chase down the wienermobile...

Matador 01-23-2010 04:14 PM

Quick, somebody Vote N/A!!!!!!!!!!!

Axel 01-23-2010 04:23 PM

too bad he made the poll anonymous... it would have been good to make everyone go public with their choice!!

Axel 01-23-2010 08:47 PM

I found this vid of OldSkoolToys in his 1000hp toyota aristo with nos... laying false to his claim of n/a once and for all !!

or you could drive this four-wheeled motorcycle... @ $32,700 ($17K cheaper than an Arial Atom)... seats 3 with McLaren-F1-style seating... turbocharged Subaru power developing 300 HP and the whole shebang only weighs 1,100 Lbs, giving it a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 500 HP per ton and a 0-60 time of 3.0 seconds.

Don't want to shell out for someone else to assemble your car? Kits start at just $6,534 and you can also use a 143 HP Aprilia RSV 1000 R engine if you want to go even cheaper.

Appears to be just the thing for picking up the kids from elementary.

This is what we call 'acceleration' boys...

Matador 01-24-2010 12:49 AM

I have no idea why Atoms are so F'ing expensive. I know they perform, but they are little more than a bike with 4 wheels. This is a lot more reasonable... it does look an awful lot like the atom though.

You would actually drive something like that on a public road?

Good thing I could care two less
about pissing off Camaro / Mustang drivers in a straight line race. Guess thats why I'm interested in this Toyota to begin with? Hmmm, a car who's main engineering focus is nimbleness, handling, and balance, NOT (rAWWWRRR) HP. Stop-light draggin is srs bzns, amirite?

cloud9 01-26-2010 03:57 PM

im sorry but i dont want a NA 4cyl, and FI is also very important for who ever mentioned that. If i wanted 80s technology i wouldn't want to spend 25k on a stock car.

Either way ill wait till this car comes out before i make buy something new, and if its not turbo or what not ill just find a nice kit to put on it, but having a turbo option would greatly influence my opinion.

That made me lol.

Apparently N/A is 80's tech.

Wonder what they used in the 70's? Scientists have concluded that:

powered these archaic vehicles.

cloud9 01-26-2010 04:16 PM

"Apparently" someone missed the comment about FI.

You missed the point completely. You're stance that N/A is "80s technology" is laughable at best.

Exactly what information on the FT-86 that has been given for us to assume its using old technology?

Nothing. Quite the opposite actually. And if you're worried about how many ponies you got kickin' under the hood from the factory, then you're missing the entire point of this car's existance.

Franisco 01-26-2010 06:40 PM

Not to nitpick, but OST you did say something about wanting the loudest exhaust you could find. (Please correct me if I'm wrong) That's a little showboaty to me for a car that doesn't have a lot of outright speed.

Ehhh, yeah...find that post, because I would never say I would want the 'loudest' exhaust.

I did state, in the mods thread, that I would probably get the dealership installed TRD sport exhaust, if its an option.

The only thing LOUD I would want on this car is 4 individual stacks gurgling their hatred at you. (they hate you, not me. =P Because ITB's are evil....a good evil.)
