Vertex Edge Widebody FRS

One of my buddys at Vertex USA sent me this:

http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...11623938_n.jpg

This is their rendering for the kit they will produce for this car. Hopefully they'll have a non widebody version as well for those who would rather not cut up the rear quarters on a brand new sub 25k car.

Vertex is absolutely AMAZING quality. Some of the best fitting FRP kits being produced today. I had it on my 14 and everything lined up FLAWLESSLY. You definitely get what you pay for with Vertex. Est price will probably be between 2-3k for the full thing...but damn, this thing is SEXY!

KaliKev 01-14-2012 11:14 PM

Any pics of the front? Looks mean!

Dark 01-14-2012 11:15 PM

Overdone to me.

WingsofWar 01-14-2012 11:30 PM

I also had vertex on my S14, and SC300. Iv loved the design and quality of vertex's products.

This render looks to move away from their clean aggressive lines of the past, in lieu of more vents? More complexity?

I like this render, but it doesn't look like an image of the current Vertex too me

ichitaka05 01-14-2012 11:59 PM

^ditto w WoW, hope to see better design than that

I agree. Edge is their new lineup. Much more aggressive and complex from their other lines(Lang, Ridge etc). The only other car I know of to have the Edge kit for it is the S15.

I love the way this kit looks. It's super aggressive. Though for an everyday street car, it is a bit too much for me. Hopefully, as stated previously, they'll have one a bit more subtle.

DuMa 01-15-2012 12:02 AM

any other pics of Vertex's widebody designs for other cars, including said s15?

Doesn't look like a FRS to me.

Pfff...whatever. Toyota 86/Scion FRS from the outside is the same damn thing.

merlin2111 01-15-2012 12:13 AM

nice. Show us the front.

TylerLieberman 01-15-2012 12:15 AM

No pics of the front. I'm sure there will be some eventually as they get closer to the that actual final product. Somebody should do a photoshop of this and take away the vents behind the rear wheel and the one up front behind the wheels. Leave the vent down the door line.

I got a feeling that it would look much more badass and clean.

Snoopyalien24 01-15-2012 12:15 AM

The vent behind the rear tire on the side (not on the rear) and the one leading out into the door on the side kinda make it feel too complex. Without it, I think it'l look a little cleaner IMO. Sure I know this took some work to render, but getting the crtizisms will help improve something more people wanna buy.

Great job nontheless and thanks for sharing!

Blah. I don't like it. It ruins the nice clean look of the stock car... but that's just my humble opinion. I'm sure there are some folks (ricer kids) that'll just love pimping their ride up with one of these kits......

OMG, I sound like my dad!!

TylerLieberman 01-15-2012 12:44 AM

^^Yup! I only got the one pic in my email.

Uhm...i wouldnt say it was rice. Extreme and a bit too loud or aggressive, sure....But definitely not rice. Rice would be having 3 sets of canards going down the side of the front bumper and a mesh grille.

Lets not get confused on what "rice" really is.

Should still name it correctly for what it is. Details.

Mr.Jay 01-15-2012 01:17 AM

too many vents

there are vents everywhere

I much prefer cleaner lines than overly angry

aphrony 01-15-2012 01:27 AM

I like how it looks from the front, and the back of it. I just don't like the vents behind the front wheels. =/

ahausheer 01-15-2012 01:31 AM

Poor car, it's gonna get so rapped by aftermarket body modifications. People who overly mod their cars make us all look bad.

I agree. Absolutely about the furthest thing from what I would ever do to a car.

poormans_LFA 01-15-2012 02:10 AM

a little extravagant for my tastes, but it's nice to see companies out there showing off their ideas. :happy0180:

coyote 01-15-2012 04:23 AM

I'm probably going to need a widebody kit for functional reasons.

No, the one pictured in this thread would not come under consideration. My kids could do a better job with their Lego set.

No...people that try to max out their tire pressure and street drift in the rain will make us look bad.

While I agree with you, technically it is rice. Any widebody kit on a street car is rice.

That makes 1970's-era Corvettes with CanAm fender kits, aka widebodies, rice…?!?

;^p

Lol. Evos come factory with molded widebody. Molded wide fenders on a lancer body. WRXs have widebody molded on stock subaru impreza bodies. Mercedes SL65 Black is an SL65 with widebody. Lexus ISF is an IS with wider fenders.

Tell me any of those cars are ricey....they're not. You, sir, are very wrong. RWB widebody on a porsche....tell me that's rice when the full kit probably costs just as much, if not, more than your car.

I've owned a WRX and an STi (Ichi, it was an 04, so yes, little i), and the STi is factory Rice. I think your idea of "molded on" is a bit different than most peoples. An STi/I does not have a bodykit riveted on and then bondo'd smooth. It has larger front fenders and different, wider rear quarter panels. They are steel quarter panels, welded to the unibody the same as every other panel on the car.

All of the cars you mentioned are ricey. (you asked us to tell you they are)

If so facto, sculpted wide fenders. None of those cars factory are ricey. Everybody is so fuckin ignorant when it comes to that term. From what you're telling me, any sports car that is japanese is ricey.

.....I give up on this forum

MrVito 01-15-2012 03:21 PM

I was being facetious when I said "All of the cars you mentioned are ricey".

Someone really needs to invent the sarcasm font so that people stop getting so butthurt on the interwebz.
