what if you dedicated $2,000

So its just a random thought to see what route people would go. Keep in mind try to stay N/A, already have coldair, midpipe, tune(93/E85) and only looking for power mods. Which brand+mod would you go with to maximize performance at the same time getting the most out of your money. budget is $2,000 Go!

Tansey86 04-06-2013 12:01 PM

Not really much else you could do in terms of power and keeping it N/A. Complete the exhaust, JDL header, frontpipe, overpipe.

I know you said you only want power mods, but in terms of bang for buck, tires or LCA could help you accelerate faster and be under that budget.

sweeney208 04-06-2013 12:08 PM

tires would be the best in my opinion. but if you really just want power for 2k pretty much your best bet is finishing your exhaust. borla header and nameless catback is my fav setup at the moment; nice boxer rumble.

sorry that kinda just repeats what the person above me just said haha

if you want performance not power, strut bars! front and back.

brichard0625 04-06-2013 12:19 PM

i should have been more detailed..i have some suspension, tire, rim, and appereance mods that im going to keep seperate from the money im willing to spend on power mods. Right now i was thinking complete exhaust, headers, pulleys. Just wondering what brands/mod would people consider given the oppurtunity. Right now im thinking works resonated exhale ab $349... perrins overpipe 305 if it fits the midpipe(ill check on that when i get a chance..either p&l or rev works header...but im sure ill have money left over for me

6-Shift 04-06-2013 12:29 PM

You'll have money left over for sure. Take a look at a FA20 intake, that should give you just enough for a Unichip or a Visconti tune if you can find someone who already has a cable. THAT will give you a lot of HP for $2000. You basically can't get even close to 200 whp without a good tune.

husker741 04-06-2013 12:31 PM

I wanted pulleys at first but now I'm hesitant because many people have had dealers tell them not to do that if they want to keep warranty. Maybe a catless front pipe to go with your overpipe? I got a catted Invidia one.

Tansey86 04-06-2013 12:39 PM

JDL header, Overpipe, Frontpipe. $1600 and a re-tune. Done.

akuhei 04-06-2013 12:50 PM

Save it for a FI upgrade :-D

ftc~brz 04-06-2013 12:52 PM

I had 2k dedicated: had intake already. I went headers back + tune. no regrets.

mechaghost 04-06-2013 01:01 PM

How bout final drive change, should give you the acceleration if you don't mind losing top end

Mars2 04-06-2013 01:23 PM

Ill wait for Cam's to be release

i was actually thinking of doing that..i dont mind losing top end at all because im not going to see numbers of 120+ very often... so
works resonated 350
perrin or nameless over pipe 300-350
rev works or p&l header 599-799
final drive 749
total 2250 maybe less if i get the right deals
pair these with my coldair, midpipe, e85..retune im hoping for more than 200 on a dynojet or 180 on a mustage/dynodynamics

If it was me, I would go this route. Your already half way to the Vortech kit or FBM turbo kit. Otherwise, headers for sure and a re-tune.

i wish i had the money to do that but i have to keep in mind that a turbo is about $4500-5500 then add installation which is another $1000+ then add clutch...just comes out to more than planned..im more of a looks person so i rather do a little bi of everything to my car...suspension, tires, rims, power, appereance, music, navi

Your right, it can add up. I would stick with the header option then. I have the RevWorks UEL ordered and should be here by this month. I will let you know how that thing feels.

frslee 04-06-2013 02:44 PM

Do some exhaust work. I would love to have $2000 for UEL header and other components of the exhaust.

FR-S Matt 04-06-2013 03:31 PM

Nameless Header, Retune, Tires/Wheels

Xdragonxb0i 04-06-2013 04:03 PM

Headers and a front pipe and over pipe. Will give you the best gains

Purdue FR-S 04-06-2013 04:43 PM

lightweight flywheel? I know it's not power related. Also carbon fiber drive shaft? Make the power you currently have work less ;)

What he said, light weight your drive trains rotational mass.

Skywgn1 04-06-2013 07:31 PM

FLUX CAPACITOR!

LeeMaster 04-06-2013 09:45 PM

here's what I would do with two thousand buckz

Lightweight pulley kit($300-$350)
Nameless Header ($???)
Nameless frontpipe/overpipe combo + cat/helmholtz ($500+/-)

Misc: Lightweight flywheel, future intake manifold(I know there's hidden power under there), maybe a throttle body.

Ingen 04-06-2013 10:56 PM

Wait for nameless chatted header?

danthedirt 04-06-2013 11:08 PM

Coilovers! Probably the RS*R sport-i and with the left over I'd get Whiteline subframe bushings.

Handling > hp

xxscaxx 04-06-2013 11:41 PM

You are going to get the most power out of a header and e85 tune...so like others said, full exhaust/e85.

I plan on doing an e85 tune and header, and just my ARK dts catback. Don't want it to be stupid loud.

wrohdejr 04-07-2013 12:11 AM

White racing strip down center of car will add +20 hp and then add neon lights to make under glow. The glow will make look like your burning up the pavement. Last but not least a huge awkward looking wing on the back to keep your ass end on the ground!!!

$2k not a bad way to spend on a ride!!!

Sorry was watching the original Fast and Furious then read this post.

m.wood0213 04-07-2013 01:07 AM

What about brakes, or suspension (Coilovers, or shocks springs and swaybars)
