BRZ STI parts at Subaru Dealerships?
Does anyone know when Subaru is going to start selling STI parts that are available in Japan in US?
Thanks |
Probably won't
We'll just have to special order them http://www.japanparts.com/ is a good place to start for now |
They haven't announced any intent to do so probably because it's a low volume car (5900 BRZs to 16000 FR-Ses sold in the US since launch to date). One thing you can try is bug Subaru of America for it and hope other people bug them too to generate demand from a ground swell.

If you can stand to wait, then do. If you can't (like me and @switchlanez), then sign up and buy em. |

So that key fob is not even real carbon fiber, and it's $97 :(. If it was real carbon, I would have been tempted to buy it.

So, everyone thinks if I want STI parts, I should bite the bullet and order from Japan?
This is my first Subaru, so if WRX guys could not get STI parts in the last ten years in US, I have no hope. |

Just wondering, what parts are ya planning to get? |

None of our crystal balls have been working lately as to what Suby's plan is for US released Accessories. The only thing that we have is years of experience with SOJ and SOA not playing nicely. They just haven't gotten us the parts that we want ASAP. I am not a patient person when it comes to what I want. If it is available somewhere in the world, I will have it delivered to me. But don't blame us if the 2014,15,16,etc BRZ comes with all of the parts that we already have installed on our cars. It is highly possible that they will release an STi version that looks just like our (@switchlanez @thermobox) cars. It's just not very probable that the USDM will receive it or the parts. |
Did thermobox have car journal?

I was thinking about springs and exhaust. I know my options are endless, but I like to stay with STI parts

Sorry, I did not know that Beyer Subaru and thermobox are same people. Your car looks great. ^^ |
Misleading thread title has resulted in disappointment.

I would love STI parts to be sold at the dealership.

SOA and SOJ don't meet eye to eye on aftermarket parts, even "OEM" aftermarket parts such as the STI offerings. Been like this for a long time. Our JDM parts site www.avojdm.com probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for that.

Other areas under my car have developed oxidation (some may call it rust but I believe it's a natural protective coating intended from the manufacturer). But my entire GReddy exhaust still shines from under there with no signs of rust... just like the day I bought it! I couldn't find what grade steel the STI exhaust is made from but I'd expect the same. I once bought a $1.6k made-to-order exhaust (C-One, best sounding I ever had) and took a huge hit in depreciation when I parted it out. This time around, I reasoned that an exhaust is a wear item that deteriorates the moment you use it faster than the rest of your car and eventually needs replacement. So you could say I "settled" on a smarter buy. ----- Just for kicks, this was my MR-S with TRD air inlet, TRD header, TRD catalyzer, and C-One exhaust (entire exhaust system from the engine block back was upgraded): [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGCSLTOJhFs"]MR2 Spyder - C-ONE Exhaust - TRD Header - TRD Catalyzer - YouTube[/ame] |
I wouldn't hold my breath on the current STI catalog being released in the US. Again, SoA, for some retarded reason, wants to push SPT as their oem aftermarket arm here and they don't see eye to eye with SoJ and STI. Similar to VW and the "GTI" moniker, it appears SoA wants to maintain the "STI" brand here in the US associated strictly with the WRX. It actually makes me question, and I know I'll get some backlash with this, whether they will even release the eventual STI version of the car in the US because of that brand association. If they really wanted to have push the STI brand here, I think they would have released the parts for cars like the Forester in the past already.
