This is all specific only to the JDM model only, of course. We ordered the base grade with no options/steel wheels.

:mad0259:

:D

WingsofWar 01-13-2012 11:27 PM

oh shii...is that the offical color list for Subaru?

and official Gear ratios?

snaps!

TheAsgard 01-13-2012 11:37 PM

:thanks:

The spoiler is optional... Should make some members her happy to see that ;-) If it can be done over there, it shouldn't be a problem for USDM or EDM.

But seat heaters only with Alcantara? :paddle:

AND: Option "audio delete"! (Not that I care...)

AVOturboworld 01-14-2012 12:09 AM

Official for Japan only - waits to be seen what the options will be overseas. JDM specific models have always had a wider range of options available at the dealerships.

What was interesting to me was that we were able to get the stripper with steelies for 2 million yen. While a strict conversion to USD put that at 25k, a comparison to WRX and STI prices in Japan tells a different tale. The WRX is about 2.8million yen, and the STI hits around 4.2 million yen. That makes the relative cost of a BRZ base quite a bit less than the WRX. Quick check of SOJ pricing puts that at the same cost as a 2.0i n/a with AWD, or a 2.0 sport (n/a) with fwd.

What in the world...0.582 6th gear for AT???? Is primary reduction ratio ever different between AT and MT?

Curb weight for automatic with 17" wheels, upgraded 16" brakes, aluminum foot rest and pedals, stainless steel door sill covers, spoiler, "floor and under tank cover" (what is this...?), 2 speaker system, is 1220kg, it seems. Base model does not have any of these, along with no trunk light/trim, no vanity mirror, no er, I assume that's soft touch cover over the dash or something.

Hmmm...the base looks pretty good :D I didn't think it would be missing speakers, but hey, I guess cellphone speakers are pretty loud these days.

EDIT: Thanks for the pricing info, AVOturboworld. Then I guess the STI might come in around the price of a WRX maybe when it comes out?

AVOturboworld 01-14-2012 12:24 AM

The undercovers are probably just that, "aerodynamic" undertrays covering those various pieces. Under tank probably refers to the fuel tank. Japanese usage of automotive terms is sometimes hard to decipher (even for some Japanese!) because they are doing a conversion of the English into katakana (un-da tanku!). Took me a while to figure out what they were calling indicator...j

Hmmm looking at pictures here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2461
there are covers over most of the underside, aside from the rear suspension components. Perhaps the gas tank is somewhere in there. If those aren't standard on the base...:/ will buy a lot of plastic board.

MrVito 01-14-2012 03:32 PM

I'm wondering if we'll get both 4.10's and 3.73's here, or not. I'd prefer 4.10's, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Giccin 01-14-2012 05:18 PM

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Thank you AVO!~ :)

What does it all say!? Haha.

JFC 01-14-2012 07:24 PM

woops sorry double post.

JFC 01-14-2012 07:26 PM

Base grade reads odd dont you think.

No LSD, No rear or 1/4 glass, no handbrake lever amongst other things, just seems odd.

SWEETNESS !
US dealers better have similar options...if so, I'm going Limited with spoiler and audio delete. :D

Now all we need is a major price leak.....

No LSD, yes. But read the descriptions for the others more carefully, they say UV blocking or something like that. There is a handbrake lever on the base model, but you just don't get options for the style/trim most likely.

Depending on how the TCS is set up, no LSD might not be a huge issue? If TCS has a "sport mode" which I seem to remember it does that allows for a bit of slip it would act like an intelligent LSD. Assuming it's set up right, which is a big assumption.

AVOturboworld 01-14-2012 10:10 PM

While the Japanese are calling it "base grade", it's more like the RA STI - totally stripped for racing (or show) duty. Those are option upgrades from base, so there's basic glass and then basically "UV cut" glass.

WingsofWar 01-15-2012 02:01 AM

i was wondering about that too..i stared at it for a long time. Then i was like....i see no reference to AS1...then i saw ZC6A2 i was like...IS THAT THE CHASSIS CODE? fuuuuuuuuu!!!

Nardi330 01-15-2012 02:16 AM

While 86/FRS seems to be ZN6...

rosuhere 01-15-2012 07:15 PM

Now just to clarify what the Z coding and all the letters mean, as in the XIH, XYH etc

Is it safe to assume the empty circles are factory fitted, the full circles are optional extras and well the square colours speak for themselves really.

Why isn't the Aero avail on all grades as an option, different panels/lights/chassis, seems odd.

Black dots are the option packages. Each column is a different configuration. The XIH, XYH is the model code for that configuration ie, XIH is base grade without ac, XYH is base grade with ac.

For base grade the only option is ac. Standard grade the options are LSD+17in wheels and Aero package. Premium the options are aero package and leather seats.

serialk11r 01-16-2012 03:34 AM

Wait what no gray base model? D: :(

Oh so the muffler whatever option, that might be the big muffler tips. I remember hearing that was an option. IMO they look really good :O Too bad not an option again :/

switchlanez 01-16-2012 04:17 AM

^I assume you can ignore Japan's "Base" grade if you are purchasing in the US. We should only see 2 trims: Premium (equals Standard in Japan) and Limited (equals Premium in Japan). Anyone disagree?

And it looks like Japan's Standard and below grades do not get dual climate control? What do the controls for that look like (I don't remember)?

Levi 01-16-2012 06:04 AM

Only two airbags for base car? That is nice.

What? It probably has something like 6-8...side curtains, side (probably pops from seat), front.

And @switchlanez yea I guess but I like how the stripper version has cheapo wheels, and no radio :/ Maybe the STI will have no radio option.

Oh wait I'm being a tard, there is a radio delete option. But if it doesn't save money, then it's pointless right?

frusciantrix 01-16-2012 06:32 AM

Do the charts say something about top speed and acceleration?

ajc209 01-16-2012 08:20 AM

Based on the ratios in the chart, it should hit 61MPH in Second gear @ 7500RPM with the manual gearbox......

wcbjr 01-16-2012 09:47 AM

6 speakers? Are they counting the two-way separates on the dash as one speaker? Or are there not any rear speakers?

Typical Toyota style is to count the 2 dash tweeters, the 2 door speakers and the 2 rear speakers mounted behind the head rests of the back sets.
Hence, 6 speakers.

Sube practice may differ, but this is my guess.

True, but in those models, there actually were only 6 speakers.

SUB-FT86 01-16-2012 10:40 AM

I wish the auto had better gearing. But it's not to bad versus the manual. I suspect a close acceleration between the two.

NemesisPrime909 01-16-2012 12:05 PM

Damn I was really hoping for Plasma Blue, ah well.

My calculation doesn't agree with that value. The ETRTO rolling circumference for a 215/45R17 tire is 1907mm according to here:
http://www.club80-90syncro.co.uk/Syn...calculator.htm
Even calculating for increased circumference at a speed of 100 km/hr for 215/45R17 87W here:
http://bndtechsource.ucoz.com/index/...alculator/0-20
Only increases the circumference to 1909.7mm. So my calculation for 2nd gear at 7500 RPM is:
1909.7/25.4/12*7500/(4.1*2.188)/88 = 59.5 MPH.
This value seems a bit too low for good 0-100 Km/hr. times unless the fuel cutoff is extended slightly in second gear. Given the 3.727 rear end ratio then 2nd gear reaches 65 MPH at the stated 7450 red-line: which seems higher than expected from some of the posted videos. I wonder what ratio Subaru will use in the US?
BTW I noticed that the gear ratios including the 4.1 rear end ratio are exactly as given in the GT-5 game as I posted here:
