What style aftermarket exhaust will you be looking for?

Curious to see what style exhaust everyone will be looking for?

Something quiet for the street? Or straight pipes for a turbo application or track cars?

M-17 01-13-2012 04:52 PM

I'm feeling the dual exhaust with quad tips.

Levi 01-13-2012 09:31 PM

I'd like some straight center pipe, for lightweight and symetry.

TylerLieberman 01-13-2012 10:25 PM

Straight pipe, dual exit. Blast pipes ftmfw!!!!

merlin2111 01-14-2012 12:28 PM

It all depends on a balance of power, weight, and sound. Once I have seen and heard a few I feel like I will be able to narrow it down. Until then it is too hard to say.

bFreed 01-15-2012 06:41 PM

Thanks for the input guys!

Infernal 01-15-2012 07:24 PM

if i can neaten up the back i'd probably go for a single exit 1 side like the blitz nur or something - hoping for a 2.5 inch single cat custom job from somewhere - possibly with some stainless UEL headers if they are the right price :P

NA_T 01-16-2012 04:49 PM

Something with a noise output below 95db.. (Trackday limit)

+1 Too early to tell at this point. I want to be one of the first to have the car, but I'll let other people's reviews of mods to help me choose later down the road.

bFreed 01-17-2012 03:16 PM

I guess I should have included stuff like titanium, burn tips, slant cut tips, axleback. If I didn't list it please post in thread. :)

delongedoug 01-17-2012 04:08 PM

Is "tuner style" code for ricer? There's a ton of weight to be saved in the exhaust. Why a motor as small as this with a low target weight has two exhaust exits is beyond me.

Cars in just about ever segment have dual exhausts at this point. It's the "popular" thing to do. Idiots. :mad0260:

RRnold 01-17-2012 05:39 PM

Another exhaust thread?! :search:

An idea pops in my head. Better start a new thread about it!

JDM-dono 01-18-2012 01:53 AM

Not trying to be picky but just went through the other thread and it's more about who's releasing exhausts kits rather than what we are looking for / want for our BRZ/FRS. Slight difference ...

Anyway, on this topic I'll be looking for a fairly quiet titanium dual exhaust like GReddy that delivers some good low end torque with a slight increase in torque in the high rpms.

How long is the heat-coloured tip style going to hold on for? (Hate it myself...)

Argent6978 01-18-2012 08:02 PM

You forgot to put on the poll, None! I'm probably not going to mess with the car, not for a while at least. Buy it, drive it, be happy I got a hot car.

bFreed 01-19-2012 03:57 PM

Come on guys, didn't see a poll on what kind of exhaust look people want. If mods want to lock, that's fine. Just thought it was a cool idea for people to discuss.

Thank you all for the input. By "tuner style" I meant ricer style I suppose. Big straight through muffler.

I hope to go for a turbo setup so I think I'll be looking to do dual or single straight pipes.

'Tuner' would be like an Apexi N1, for example?

By straight pipes do you mean no muffler?

bFreed 01-20-2012 03:02 PM

Yea, you got it.

And straight pipes? Yes. No cat, no muffler. Possibly a small race muffler and a removable section so I can swap the cat in and out.

Honesty 01-20-2012 03:42 PM

Route the exhaust out of the fender. Right where the little 86 logo is.

dabocx 01-20-2012 05:08 PM

Dual tipped most likely. Full 3 inch exhaust or 70mm. Hopefully Amuse comes out with something nice

Dimman 01-20-2012 07:19 PM

^ 70mm is ~2.75"

75mm is closer to 3"

Reflections 01-21-2012 01:43 AM

Dual straight pipes from the cylinder back, 3", titanium welds, quad tip, brushed look on the tips. Clearly this won't happen so its a product of my dreams, and I doubt this would be the most effective exhaust for power!

I knows just saying one of the two. I dont expect a full 3 inch exhaust, most will be 70mm at most

#87 01-21-2012 04:17 AM

The quietest one that gives gains over stock, I'm a simple guy

Homemade WRX 01-21-2012 12:19 PM

I doubt there will be room for dual 'tuner' mufflers, much less one. I'm just looking at how short the center-line of the rear axle (think diff) is to the back bumper. I imagine they're running a transverse muffler from the factory...though I've never looked into it.

Ryephile 01-21-2012 12:48 PM

The only solution that would interest me would improve power, improve the sexiness and tone of the sound, reduce weight, improve longevity, and look tasteful & well balanced.

Without making a new rear bumper panel "diffuser", the only exhaust that would look reasonable would be one that emulated the OEM, perhaps with better looking tips.

Homemade WRX 01-21-2012 01:35 PM

^^^I like the weigh you think ;)

I'm largely function over form as well but it can't sound like crap for my street car lol

SIRvive 01-22-2012 12:37 AM

Ill be choosing whatever gives me the most power over stock and best rumble while still giving the appearance of stock. I votes straight dual only because it will come as a dual to begin with.

_hollywood 01-22-2012 02:32 AM

Single exit 1 piece titanium race exhaust, with a clamp style quick release to mount a small muffler for long highway trips and then remove at the track

I believe vibrant makes the clamps...

....:burnrubber:

Homemade WRX 01-22-2012 07:47 PM

I think you mean v-band clamps...

Alfie 01-22-2012 10:08 PM

Single tuner for me,
like the GReddy RS or tanabe/// Concept G -which i had and miss : (

...if i wanna go RARE- it'll be a dual by ~SACLAM~

weirtech 01-24-2012 11:16 AM

i intend to develop a system asap for this car. it may take a couple prototypes before i get the dyno result i want, but keep your eyes open as i hope to have something as soon as the car is released to market that will offer options for everyone that wants their own personal style to be reflected in their choice.

Side-exit exhaust, 300GT style.

This. I was hoping it was just a 2006-ish phase...but it seems to still be going strong. :(

Oh well. In an attempt to participate in the poll, whatever I feel (after driving it for some time) will give me a nice sleeper look and sound, save weight, and work well with my intended performance goals.

On a different note...
