Decided to drop to 23,500 if anyone is looking for one.

Apparently Carmax will give a good value for your car (See LIKEABOSS's selling thread).

Good luck with selling it. I'd buy it if I could, but already have one. Ultramarine is a very nice color.

chappys4life 05-08-2013 07:51 AM

Thanks for the info I was actually debating taking it down there this weekend but looks like I definitely will now.

Jrohit 05-08-2013 07:38 PM

They give you the best money for the value of the car. I traded in my (shitty) Sentra, and I was expecting to get around $3,500, but they offered 6000 even with a minor accident (hit and run, hit mirror), with mods and wheels.

I worked for corporate in IT for a couple of years. They'll pay a little more for new models like the FR-S and BRZ as it will help get people in the store to look, whether or not they eventually end up with that car. Other cars they will offer you well below market value, it all depends on their stock levels, time of year, etc.

I do miss working there for the employee discounts though. It was not good for my carwhoring.

Went down to carmax they were 2k under what my bottom line was. It was a bummer but at least I test drove a nice 08 evo while waiting.

What did they offer?

chappys4life 05-10-2013 11:07 AM

21k, the car has just under 3200 miles. I spoke with someone they got 21.5k with 8900 miles. Kbb trade in is 23,750 and private is just over 24k.

frslee 05-10-2013 11:17 AM

why are they offering you less with less mileage car? i always had bad turnout with carmax

Sent from my slushbox

infinite012 05-10-2013 12:19 PM

Because Richmond folk don't want to buy a FR-S. They want to buy old Impalas and such.

frslee 05-10-2013 12:40 PM

Drive up to NOVA, I'm sure there are better buyers.

but it's far...

I'll most likely be going to CarMax soon myself due to possibly a 1 year suspension as well. I have the same color, with a little under 4000 miles but mine is an automatic. But i'll let you know what the CarMax near Dulles says.

Areddi 05-13-2013 07:11 AM

+1 on Carmax. I sold my truck to them last year for house money for my fiance and I. I did a lot of research, KBB, comparative shopping for what the truck sold for on Autotrader and CL, and they came pretty close. Had I had the time and interest to sell it privately, could have probably squeezed another grand out, but for the hassle, needing safety inspection, etc, it was worth it to go to them.

There was a big misconception about them a few years ago that they payed crap for things. They basically have a monopoly on that service model across the country, and it is worth it for them to just pay well and shift their inventories regionally. I have had a good experience whenever I have dealt with them and would definitely recommend it.

Thanks I am curious what they give you for yours.

Also finally added pics to the for sale thread. Its going in autotrader this week.

Can I ask what was the violation(s) that might lead to the suspension? Both Chappy and Cyrious?

Justin.b 05-13-2013 09:04 AM

Try listing it on autotrader and/or cars.com. Keep in mind that it's probably difficult to get that close to the new purchase price, even with the low miles and I'm assuming new/like new condition. The Carmax offer probably isn't that bad... be aware that the car's value is going to keep going down, especially with the 2014's right around the corner.

For me, I was in Winchester coming back from a bar and was parked off to the side of the road because a friend of mine had to throw up as I was driving. So I pulled over and out of no where a cop shows up and I end up performing all the test and get charged with a DUI, class 1 misdemeanor. I'm still waiting for my next trial date which is on August 6th, day before my birthday:thumbdown:, to find out the outcome. So I just rather get rid of the car now instead of just waiting to see what happens.

Sorry to here the bad news man... Try to ask carmax what they will get it for and also ask other online websites. Tell them that so and so was quoting you 23,500 and so they will try to match it even though they never quoted you that. Try to test them. But best of luck to you! Sorry again bro.

chappys4life 05-29-2013 01:11 PM

I tried that no luck, I even was looking at buying a different car through them and no budging.

infinite012 05-30-2013 09:51 AM

Did you try Hyundai like I suggested?

I used to work at CarMax corporate HQ. They won't be able to go any higher (or lower) than what the computer tells them to offer.

Also used to work at their HQ, will second that. The appraisal offer they give is what you'll get, and usually it isn't too shabby by dealer standards.

BrokenNocturne 08-04-2013 02:30 PM

Chappy, did you sell it yet?
