Did something just mention... push start? XD

Nardi330 01-13-2012 02:07 AM

my very first mod must be the door stabilizer!!! i wonder how much extra power it pulls by this "mechanical part"........

The Robot Cow 01-13-2012 02:07 AM

Hopefully Scion will sell all if not most of these trd parts

NorCalRider 01-13-2012 02:25 AM

Sweet. Lots of must have items here.

switchlanez 01-13-2012 02:28 AM

TRD parts are cool mods. Til you realize you're replacing perfectly good stock brakes, wheels/tires, sway bars, shocks/springs that have tons of life left. You already paid for them in buying the car; now you're going to sell them at a loss? Then lose more money buying marked up TRD parts (or lose a little less if you buy used)? Then lose even more to get them installed? Which sometimes costs more than the part being installed and why I gravitate towards DIY. But I still want these parts. I hope they come pre-installed in a TRD or STI or PROVA edition. They may have a higher sticker price but should cost less than modding a stock car.

Toyota really knows how to gyp you! I've fallen for it several times over. :bonk:

I see that duck tail on BRZ. :D

DuMa 01-13-2012 02:42 AM

door stabilizer? what the fuck. why isnt the door stabilized from the factory? :mad0260:

frusciantrix 01-13-2012 02:44 AM

I'm new to the Toyota world but TRD parts are after-market parts installed by your local Toyota dealer and can't be ordered directly?

Capt Canuck 01-13-2012 02:47 AM

I do get a kick out of all these parts... Toyota spends all this time setting up the car how they want it - fun, sporty, involving, yadda, yadda, yadda - and then they offer bits that go some way to removing those USPs, lol.

Will say the seats might be cool if the stock ones turn out not to offer enough support.

you can buy the parts after market, similar to Mugen for Honda.

Slide 01-13-2012 03:27 AM

Awww thanks

Mr.Jay 01-13-2012 03:27 AM

quick qestion. if you bought the push start aftermarket would you have to pay to get the key programs for smart key?

finally no more push start button threads :thanks:

Slide 01-13-2012 03:28 AM

I want sports seats

You do raise a fine point. But sure you pay more but at least you can be sure that they put time and money into developing quality parts. I'd rather buy factory developed parts rather than aftermarket.

it's just because brembo's look pimp and make your penis bigger - don't worry about it

frusciantrix 01-13-2012 05:29 AM

With that one I disagree.
1 Piston brakes have a big disadvantage when it comes to brake pad wear and stopping power.
If you use your car for buying groceries then I agree.

There are also no good brake pads available for 1 piston brakes.

I don't have any issues finding racing compound pads for my 1-piston brakes.

I use Carbotech XP8 pads.

m_life 01-13-2012 05:53 AM

I must admit 6 pot calipers IMO are a tad over kill for a car of this size.

Levi 01-13-2012 06:28 AM

There is never too much stopping power. It is always nice if you can stop from 100 km/h to 0 km/h in 2 sec.

to be doing that type of thing we will be needing stickier rubber and wider wheels though

SUB-FT86 01-13-2012 07:45 AM

Those brakes would seem fitting on a 500 bhp heavy beast. All you need is 4/2 pistons for this car if you think the stocks won't be adequate.

ZetaVI 01-13-2012 07:53 AM

Pretty cool list of parts. Not sure if I would get any of them but TRD did a good job.

Levi 01-13-2012 08:19 AM

To say the truth I'd be more interested in TRD lowerwing springs, wheel spacers and the strutt bar is fine. For exhaust I prefere the STI one, and 6/4 pistons is really too much, 4/2 are just what it needs, especially in a racecar with 17" rims.

Good question.

Or is this alleged "door stabilizer" merely cosmetic?

It's just a chromed latch, I'm thinking. A dress up part.

I'm intrigued about the shock absorbers, though - I had a Miata with Tokico Illuminas that had adjustable damping, and I had FM lowering springs. Car could HANDLE!!!

Ride was pretty tight, but was pretty good on the freeway. Beat you up in town. I'm not sure I'd want something quite that... severe again. 'Specially at my age. ;)

Supergoji 01-13-2012 11:46 AM

only TRD mods worthwhile is the brakes and suspension.
I wish NISMO would make parts like that available... they did that stuff for the 350z but it wasnt really an amazing upgrade.

Jehuty77 01-13-2012 11:53 AM

Pricing?

First we have to find out which of these parts will make it to North America. Usually safety laws prevent things like cool seats from getting here. Who knows what Toyota will let us have? I doubt we'll get the suspension. Giving people the opportunity to slam their cars and then claim factory warranty when they blow their shocks isn't something Toyota likes, I bet.

Snoopyalien24 01-13-2012 11:58 AM

Me likey you Ms. TRD

oldskule 01-13-2012 11:58 AM

Everything in the list looks great, especially the front lip and duckbill spoiler. I wish the high response exhaust was dual exit and not four though

jonnois 01-13-2012 12:03 PM

the real pics look so much better was worried there for a sec

Supergoji 01-13-2012 12:08 PM

im going to say 4k for the brake kit, 1,200 for the catback, 1,800 suspension, 2,500 for seats, 2,000 for body kit.

carbonBLUE 01-13-2012 12:11 PM

i gotta say that exhaust give me a boner....

carbonBLUE 01-13-2012 12:13 PM

we need stuff like lightweight pullys, intake manifolds, door illumination (says TRD), trd drysump, COLD AIR INTAKE... lol
