Cruise Control 'set' light

Is there a known issue with the cruise control's 'Set' indicator sometimes failing to light even when the speed is set correctly?

I'm encountering this and have reported it to dealer but they were unable to repro.

Notes:
1. Stability/Traction controls unchanged from engine turn on.
2. No traction loss during trip.
3. Speed above 40kph.

Did you push the cruise button in first enforce "setting" cruise? I sometimes forget to do that. Also, not sure what speed cruise control will kick in, usually not until you are in 6th gear.

LeftFootBrake 04-03-2013 09:53 PM

Thanks. All those questions answered in first post.

Cruise control won't work if you're in sport mode. Also if you have cruise control set and turn Sport on, cruise control will shut off automatically.

LeftFootBrake 04-03-2013 11:19 PM

Thanks. Again though, as described in first post, none of that is applicable because the speed is set, it's just the 'set' light on the dash not coming on.

Ranatsu 04-04-2013 09:38 AM

So its cruising as it should but the light doesn't turn on?

FR-S Matt 04-04-2013 01:59 PM

I'd get it on video with your phone next time it happens.

LeftFootBrake 04-04-2013 08:17 PM

Sorry, why the video request? I can't understand what difference it would make to this thread.

Actually it wasn't answered in either post.
I asked you if the car was actually cruising with the light off.

Meaning you drive up to 60mph, set cruise and take your foot off of the throttle and it maintains this speed. Yet the second light stating cruise is active does not turn on.

There are two lights one that says cruise control is turned on and the other that says its actively being used. This light turns off when you tap the brakes or pull back on the cruise control stalk.

Does that better explain my question?

If the secondary light isn't turning on yet the car is maintaining speed as it should be. Then just take it into the dealership. Its probably a dead bulb or something.

Actually, it was.

Dude, take it to the dealership. Clearly no one else has experienced this problem, if they had, this thread would be a couple pages long with people saying "yup, happens to me too."

Get it on video (like someone already said to do), so you can show the dealership.

LeftFootBrake 04-05-2013 08:35 AM

Sigh.

When you turn the car on acc and the cluster does the bulb check, do both cruise lights illuminate? Easy easy to verify its not a bulb issue.

Sounds like you need to reread your first post.

LeftFootBrake 04-05-2013 06:29 PM

LOL. The irony is strong in this thread.

Clearly your first post has all the answers. You've hinted at this fact several times now. No need to ask everyone else, just look at post #1!

Instead of being a douche, you could just answer the questions asked. It's obvious that if the questions are asked you didn't clearly state the answers in your first post.

But as mentioned before, no this isn't a common issue. No one has chimed in yet to say they've experienced it as well. There's the answer to your question.

LeftFootBrake 04-05-2013 08:23 PM

LOL. This is fun.

Dude, the ONLY question you asked in your first post,
Quote:

has been answered. But to reiterate, NO, THERE IS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE.

NotSoJDM 04-05-2013 10:20 PM

All I know is the Internet. It's serious business. I feel like you've owned a BMW previously. Amirite?

n2oinferno 04-05-2013 11:22 PM

Set indicator isn't.

1. Passenger is a giraffe.
2. 17 clowns in trunk.
3. Doing 63.1 miles per hour heading southeast.
4. Cup holder contains 3 oz. of Mountain Dew.

That should be all the info you need. Is this a known issue?

Ranatsu 04-05-2013 11:57 PM

I'm assuming its something lost in translation.

whaap 04-06-2013 12:05 AM

for those of you that are not aware of it, communications is the biggest problem in the human race.

Trust me when I say I know. Guess what language Toyota prefers?

LeftFootBrake 04-06-2013 02:26 AM

LOL. Yeah, let's now turn a textbook example of what is simply poor manners and education (namely the inability to listen and understand before judiciously choosing between silence and talking) into a discussion of linguistic relativism.

I don't know how you guys dream this sh*t up, but it's providing much laughter in my household so please do continue.

NotSoJDM 04-06-2013 11:19 AM

Yup. Definitely a former BMW owner.

You can say "shit" on this board. It's okay.

Shit shit shit. See? :D

Other acceptable words are "yes" and "no."

Also, welcome to the internet. You seem new here.

SasaGT86 11-27-2015 08:38 AM

I have the same problem with mine. Usually when I start using cruise control the SET light works. But after some time while still using cruise control the set light turns it self of but the cruise control still works fine.
