Fixing the radio antenna

1 Attachment(s)
The stock radio antenna looks like a dildo...

any good fixes out there already in the market where i can just unscrew the stock one, and screw in a very tiny knob?

I plan on just removing it! I''ll use probably magnets and a steel plate or something to make a removable patch incase I ever need to go back. Then I'll cover the roof in either black or cf vinyl.http://rampantrenders.com/wp-content...t2-650x406.jpg

I think it's funny some of the stuff people focus on lol

<< never noticed the antenna, likely won't notice it in the next picture of the car either.

You don't see the antenna in the OP's first post? :D

These guys make shark fin antennas for various different makes/models and even match the OEM paint, hopefully it won't take long for them to produce something for the AS1.

Looks like they also offer group buy pricing...

I would definitely be interested in a shark fin BMW type of antenna, especially if it could be color matched to the car.

There's nothing wrong with being distracted by the blue paint...

not really interested in a sharkfin.

i'm interested in the antenna square knob like the one on the G35 coupe or GTR

I actually bought one of their shark fin antennas for my wife's Flex. It was a little pricey, but looks great! I'll definitely get one of they offer it.

Looks just like any other antenna. The s2k has the same looking antenna but its on the back passenger side if i recall right. There's a million cheap aftermarket nub antennas. Get one of those from ur local speed shop, shave it or shark fin. those are your options lol.

For a regular radio antenna there are links in it where you can lengthen the antenna. Stuff some aluminum foil into the link directly below the break.
With the same SOLID piece, wrap it up to where it is broken. Using the foil attach the two pieces together.
Wrap duct tape around the foil until you can no longer see the foil.

It actually doesn't look like a dildo. It might be ugly but dildo its not.

TRD or Tom's should offer some sort of sharkfin antenna, which will be leaps and bound better than the stocker...which is quite noticeable.

sbxjap 03-22-2012 04:43 PM

I don't mind it, but would be nice if I could just hide it and still get really good reception...

I like the stock antenna. Makes me feel like I'm driving a remote controlled car.

Actually it reminded me of an aircraft rigid comm antenna which is why I like (See below), but I like your take on it too.

I like the look of that. Any chance you could do it in Firestorm?

There's always this if you want a shark fin.

You sir, just read my mind.

In all honesty, I wouldn't want to change it because I don't want to mess up my radio. I've heard some bad reviews about how significantly it reduces reception.

For BRZ owners, I think the sat nav reception is in the base of the antenna as well. I rather have all my electronics in the car to work than worry about how it looks. Just some food for thought.

Rampage 05-07-2012 07:21 PM

Put a shark fin on it and then it will look like every other Hyundai, Kia, Prius, Corolla, Honda etc etc etc......ugh!

I would keep the erection!
