Techstream/ECU customizations

Hey guys. I recently got a cheapo cable from China to change the settings of my ECU for the minor stuff like car arm beep, how long the dome light stays on, etc. It's pretty quick and easy to do. I'm thinking that I'll start bringing it to any meets, but if anyone wants to meet up (even not at meets) to get some changes then I'd be happy to help out. I'm only doing the main customizations as I don't know how nor do I want to mess with any advanced stuff. But yeah. Just putting this out there!

that is awesome of you to offer. Would be nice if you could provide a full list of the customizations that you can do with it.

BigFatFlip 04-01-2013 03:03 PM

^This, I'm more curious if anything

It's not that big of a deal haha. I can/am only willing to customize what they show inside the manual. Here are a few pages. This is from the BRZ, but most everything is the same thing anyway.

One thing they don't mention, but I can change is disabling the seat belt beep for either driver or passenger. Other than that that's about it. Nothing huge, but it's something since I've seen some threads of people saying that the dealer is charging for changing these things which seems stupid to me. I figure help out other peeps if I can!

:w00t:

the only thing on there that I think I would want to do is make it so both doors unlock with one press of the unlock. So many times I go out to my garage without the key and find the pass side locked.

yeah i feel ya. well either way if you want to try to meet up or just remind me if i see you at a meet (whichever one it is) then that'll work. :P

Disabling the pass seat belt beep, will it still function properly when there's someone there? I hate I have to put that seatbelt on when I have backpack on it.

I doubt it. It goes off from your backpack because there is no way for the computer to know if it's a real person or not. So it's either on or off for that... Sorry man.

Yeah, it just disables the sound. I got mine turned off and it otherwise functions the same in terms of the pass airbag on/off light on the center console.

I work in the Santa Clara area too. Right off of 880 and Brokaw. Maybe you can make it a DD just for a day? :P Otherwise weekends work best.

This might be a good idea. Maybe we can all head to a burger place or something and I'll bust out the tablet and get all the mods for people done real quick. :happyanim:

Thanks @phanguy for all the new (or removed/improved) features on my car. And thanks for sharing your mods. Added to my to-do list. Thanks again!!

The BRZ driver showed up after you rolled away but they had their own agenda. So I just rolled away too.

phones that are charging will set it off. there is a long thread about it messing with the sensor somehow in the Issues/ Warranty subforum.

not the exact auction i used, but this is what i got. it'll include the software too. i've tried newer software, but i don't seem to have any extra functionality with the newer/latest software.

Yruyur 04-08-2013 04:08 PM

Thanks. Just bought it.

Yeah, I have to admit, the default lockout timer on the car is a bit short -- locked myself out a couple of times with this car already -- at least i know it's secure =)

Seeing that I posted today... No it's not dead. :P just name a time and place and we can see if we can work something out. Please bare in mind that if we are only meeting for me to do the change (and its not a car meet) then I may ask you to meet me a little closer to where I live/work than where you do. But other than that, fa sho. :)

Norkoastal 04-30-2013 01:37 PM

Lets fold this into the next planned mini meet... Someone is going to leave stuffed from all the food donations, lol.. :D

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I was tired and didn't get a chance to check the dates lol whatever is easier for you I'm in no rush but I wouldn't mind coming all the way out to you, I'm in San Jose at least once a week
