Dresden Germany, id like to see if this car will make it here and how much longer it will take. Or how much more it will cost here then in the states. Considering the genesis coupe isnt here yet and is going to come summer 2010 (a year after the us) and will cost 25.000 Euro (35,000 us dollars) Thats alot more then then the 22k (us) starting price for a 2.0

Michel 01-26-2010 08:00 PM

Oh hies.. from somewhere in the middle of nowhere, between Belgium and German border, about 160km from Nürburg.

ps. Hi Lauren.. small world, though you probably don't know me lol. I'm a lurker @ imoc UK.

Well.. you'll still be lucky compared to us, no matter how 'expensive' it gets, we always get raped with taxes.

Baseprice : € 20.000,- (just for example)
+ 45,2% tax : € 9040,-
+ 19% tax : € 3800,-

Total : € 32.840.- (that's $ 46255 USD)
I don't think it's funny..

OldSkoOL 01-27-2010 09:03 AM

Hi Michel. I've seen plenty of your posts on IMOC about the Ring, as I recall you are a fairly regular visitor.

Have you a vested interest in this car then? For me this car will come out about the same time I part ex pat the panda so I'm hoping it's in reach.

chrisssteeven 02-11-2010 06:50 AM

As for reliability,I'd hate to have my brakes go or accelerator stick at the track.I've seen plenty with blown headgaskets, which is no fun as you need to pull the engine.Seeing a turbo, awd version is destined for Subar,I doubt the engine will be behind the front wheels.

Fox 02-11-2010 07:28 AM

@Tom: Who? :D

@Mr. Z: Because its european, not deutsch :)

Cool I like Volos very much. Been there 7-8 times so far.
As for the price, I am hoping for a sub 30k euro, more realistic would be near 32k for the base model...

We will see.

For all you germans out there:

There is a report about the 40th anniversary of the Toyota Celica on www.toyota.de. There is also a brochure about this topic, wich has a report about the FR-S.

I got it 3 months ago by my toyota dealer. He sent it to me, because he knows that I am passionate about the celica series. But some samples of text in it are really curel. :( Some parts are the same as celica-drivers would think of... other are exactly the opposite. :iono:

Okay... that was the old celica series...
...but when I asked some of the toyota salesmen, nobody even knew the new ft. :bellyroll:
They sent me the brochure, but didn't even read it. :bonk:

So I have a nice brochure, with information I already knew and and could teach some salesmen about the specs of the ft-86.

kruse 10-14-2010 06:02 AM

From Denmark, FT86 could be my next car replacing my 2006 Subaru Impreza STI

virobloc 10-14-2010 09:44 AM

Welcome Kruse!
Let me ask you something... Knowing you have an Impreza, would you rather the Toyota FT-86 instead of the Subaru version?

Chibi86 10-15-2010 07:57 PM

Hi Everybody, Nice to meet you all, I'm from france !

FT86 will certainly replace my Celica or I'll have both =)

fabio_federici 01-15-2011 05:42 AM

Another celica driver from switzerland waiting for ft-86

delticfan 01-19-2011 03:55 PM

Hi another celica driver waiting for the ft86 or 216a (can't decide yet!) I just hope my celica can hold out long enough - on 170,000miles so far.....how long to wait???
