I don't ask for much
I just bought a BRZ limited, coming from a 2005 TSX. I've tried every audio adjustment I can thing of, but the speakers in this car just sound terrible to me. The low end sound is definitely lacking, but the adjustment with the stock head unit just doesn't cut it. What can I do to improve this?

Drive a WRX for a week and then you'll be overly satisfied with the BRZ sound system.
|
Well, that's all a matter of buget. If you're on one then cfusionpm setup isn't a bad option. From there the skys the limit.
Are you simply wanting to tweek the factory system, or are you considering replacing parts? |
Strange, I actually think they sound pretty damn good for this price point of car. Took a bit of tweaking, but I have no complaints and I've owned many higher end cars compared to this.

OEM Audio Plus. Plug and play solution that sounds incredible. Can't go wrong with it.

What xjohnx said. If you're not looking to piece together your own custom system, which based on the tone of your post you're not, the OEM Audio Plus system seems to be a good route for you. I've not heard anyone complain about it not living up to expectations.

I just use my cell phone and earbuds. The streaming bluetooth to the headunit sounds terrible

My previous car was an 05 TSX and now I also have a BRZ - nice!
The stock speakers are not as bad as people think. I wish I could just let people listen to my stock speakers on the amplifier I have. They sound surprisingly good (and I used to have Focals) - and the door speakers at the right crossover point also have some nice thump. Personally, if you're budget conscious, I would simply add a 4 channel amplifier to the existing setup. Regardless of what you do moving forward, you're going to need a new amplifier anyway - it's a good place to start. |

I would be happy with something like cfusionpm has setup, but with replacing the factory speakers as well. I'm not looking for audiophile quality, just a little more thump and clarity, without sacrificing much space. With my music tastes, I wouldn't need more than an 8" or 10" sub. Any recommendations as far as factory replacement speakers go? I've looked on crutchfield, but I figured I'd get better opinions here. |
Get the OEM Audio Plus system (https://www.facebook.com/oemaudioplus), worth every penny.

Very first thing i would do is deaden and seal the doors, makes a huge difference in the SQ of the stock speakers, go to the audio directory sticky and find the DIY its a great resource.

You can run a cleansweep and set up an 8" through an amp set up in the trunk. Or just deaden the doors and run some nice 2ohm 6.5s in the doors. Or both!

All that being said the sound system in this car sucks mainly because the Nav unit they have is absolutely terrible and it seems as though it was a complete afterthought. I bet a $90 single DIN cheapo sounds better. |

Using an aux adapter in my TSX I can stream Pandora while running navigation all day long and only drop a few percent while on the charger, so the issue must be related to the bluetooth somehow. I know there's some bluetooth issues with android 4.2, but the version I'm running is based on 4.1.2. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |

Mine seems to have more issues with network killing battery than bluetooth. That being said even in a slow charger from an old phone I will gain battery slowly with everything pumping. |

Edit: Found lots of battery saver apps on the play store, but no battery saver beta. Could you send me a link if it's on there somewhere, or is this something I could get from XDA? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |
I'm not as disappointed with the sound as much as I am with the functionality of the head unit. That thing has to go. It is an insult to touch screens everywhere to even call it a touch screen.
