The Preaching pulpit for FRS

This is an area for those of you who continually want to jump in and preach about everything from yellow lines, to speed, to turns, to saving lives, and then throw in "we will kick you out".
So, let it all out here, instead of trying to throw your nickel in and busting up threads with your lectures of right and wrong. Leave the posters posts intact.
The admins will delete anything they think soils the FRS "rep", so you do not have to concern yourself with anybody that might be a "Felony".
Let the rest of us enjoy the thread we went to read about.
Thanks in advance.
Now post away, seed your need to preach, here and now. Let the rest of the posters go in peace if it is not your thing.

So are you admitting to hooliganism? How do we mark the menace to society?

I vote for a permanent pink name so all can know of your irresponsibility.

supramkivtt2jz 03-31-2013 07:30 PM

LOL. Ill start.

Everyone that turns off their "nannies" and decides to drive without them constantly, stfu. Youre the only ones wrecking your cars. Turn off the nannies when you NEED to or are permitted to in a SAFE and CLOSED environment. Youll have no sympathy from me for wrapping your car around a tree.

dem00n 03-31-2013 07:38 PM

I'm a hooligan and i couldn't give a rats ass to what anyone thinks of my driving.

Who gives a shit, really?

When I started driving I never had "nannies" to aid my driving. It was called being responsible. Driving aids or not, if someone is acting a fool, they're gonna wreck their car. People who rely on aids to do the driving for them instead of learning the limits of their car are the ones I'm looking out for. That being said, I'll drive with mine on or off as I please. Mostly off.

You are absolutely permitted to drive your vehicle however you like - I wont stop you. All I am saying is that there is been many many times with drivers who are new to a front engined rear-wheel-drive platform who have destroyed their cars because they want to drive "spiritedly"

Anyone who wants to "push" their car should join the scca and look for a performance driving school. If you do not have a new outlook for your driving habits and vehicle, you were not pushing your limits as a driver.

Apecks 03-31-2013 07:54 PM

Here's my theory on the "nannies". I believe that all modern cars have a data logger that logs the last X minutes of date prior to an accident. For example, RPM, speed, etc. I would be surprised if this doesn't also capture the status of driving aids. If I turn them off and have an accident, can the insurance company, or worse yet, LEA's use this data to point at an inclination to drive "at the limit" aka recklessly at the time of the accident? I think yes. I'll leave them alone unless I feel the need due to conditions (I.e. wheel spin needed to escape snow covered parking lot)' or I'm in a confined and safe area.

My two bits.

RedLeader 03-31-2013 08:03 PM

I think we should find all the people who have never broken the speed limit (even to pass a car), never driven with less than two hands on the wheel, never failed to use their turn signal, never squeaked through the last yawning second of a yellow light, never failed to come to a full and complete stop at a stop sign, and have never been cited by law enforcement for any driving infraction. That way, we'll all know who the liars are.

fatoni 03-31-2013 08:58 PM

i dont really mind people enjoying the car. i just think its dangerous at this price point to offer such a lively product. i think it can be a good thing but its odd that people think the frs is cursed when there is a significant showing of people driving irresponsibly.

I think you are delirious. Look at mustang, cheaper, more power, not smooth, and many more than frs.
Now, what is point you were trying to make?

To be fair, most of the cursed posts i read were caused by carelessness of other drivers or dbags who key our cars

lol, if you think it'll be offensive, then I suggest you don't post it.

Also, this thread it totes weird, but seems alright thus far. Carry on!

Huehuecoyotl 03-31-2013 10:05 PM

well, its not offensive, just how I see it, can that happen here?

The local constabulary may be a bit narrow minded about it.

there are two points i want to make. first, when mustangs are driven fast (straight line), the people are trying to drive dangerously and usually at least aware of the dangers. the frs provides excitement in a way that requires a fair amount of skill to drive and in my opinion is a little more punishing (especially with the low limits of the tire). this just leads to more people being surprised by the frs turning on them than a prototypical mustang driver. second, you are either short sighted for thinking i am saying this doesnt happen to irresponsible mustang drivers, or stupid for believing this doesnt happen to mustang drivers.

the point i am trying to make is that irresponsibility is usually the root of all automotive misfortune. it doesnt matter if its an frs, mustang or prius. if you drive like a **** head, bad things will happen.

I'd aruge me being a hooligan once in a while is a lot safer then how most peolpe drive "nomrally" around here.

Hooliganism is many things at once, doesn't mean going sideways out of every corner, but...having fun per say.

Ok, weird thread but here goes.

-People are forgetting that this is a $24k car (or $27k BRZ). It's not a Ferrari, Lambo, etc. It was meant to be driven, enjoyed, and to get dirty (as are those exotics too). You can keep your garage queen, I'll be enjoying mine outside.

-One other thing: This car is not cursed! That is just idiotic. Accidents happen to all cars.

idk man. the curse my be idiotic, but it seems like a lot of...'interesting' people find the frs/brz invasive on their happiness or whatever which has resulted and a lot of us getting keyed and the like. its really small (even when I know exactly where I parked, I cant see it until i'm at the right angle or 15 foot away) so a lot of people hit the damn thing or door dding it and sadly run most of the time. maybe its not a curse, but it sure as hell is a bad combination of things.

I'm fairly certain noone that has posted and said this car is cursed actually thought in their right mind it actually had a "curse" on it.

If you can't get along with the other children in the sandbox, don't defecate in it.

It's perfectly okay to point out the Twins' flaws or shortcomings, but don't start bashing them or the owners and then act surprised when you end up banned. Show some respect.

13 FR-S Veteran 04-02-2013 10:22 AM

First off let me say that I love the community here. It's a great place to share ideas and opinions.

I had an interesting thing happen to me the other night while driving my FR-S home from a movie with my 8 year old son in the back seat.

We were passed in a posted 60km zone by a "dark" sports car in the center median going what i would estimate to be in excess of 100 km/h. There was oncoming traffic at the time and I quickly pulled off to the side thinking this was going to end in horrific tragedy. The car in question proceeded to lock up the brakes and spin around to head back in the direction it came from....at the same high rate of speed in the same dare i say "reckless" manner.

But wait, it gets even better.

Following this incident I continue on my way home driving at the old man rate of 82 in a posted 80 km/h zone. When I was turning onto the side road i need to take to get home I noticed a rather large SUV that was behind me actually go through the lights and make a U turn to follow me. I mean he had driven past my side road and actually came back. So i assume he was also whitness to the crazy driver that passed on the median. So I pull over thinking he wants to share info on the event (I live in a very small community, so this isn't as strange as it may read).

It wasn't until well into the conversation that i realised what was actually happening. The short version is this good samaritan turned around and followed me all the way home thinking that I WAS THE IDIOT IN THE MEDIAN.

Which brings me to the point of my post.

Just because I drive a little black sports car, doesn't mean I drive it to the point where lives are endangered on public roads. And to those of you that think that kind of behaviour is acceptable on public roads I ask you to think of people like my 8 year old son in the back seat. If you want to drive like you're on a track....then do it....ON A TRACK.

I cant believe this thread has survived this long. Most other car forums a half dozen people would have been banned and this would be locked already. haha.

On topic I just want to say my only soapbox speech for this car who cares if it has a damn scion badge. If you want all those other things like HIDs and push button by a BRZ, a 10 series, or go aftermarket. Dont complain your scion didn't come with it and enjoy your damn car.
