Is my rear bumper missing some screws?
I took my car in to fix an issue with foggy tail lights and have since noticed a rattle coming from somewhere in the back of my car when driving on the freeway. Is anyone else experiencing this?
This may be related... I noticed two empty holes on each side of the car in the wheel well of the rear bumper, under the tail lights. Can anyone else be so kind as to check their FR-S/BR-Z and see if there are supposed to be screws or anything occupying those holes? (and possibly take a pic if there are indeed supposed to be screws there?) Thanks in advance! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps7c465b8a.jpg |
DUDE !!!
Someone must have tried to steal your bumper ! |
Don't stress... That how they come.
I noticed mine the day I got it. Even the salesman thought the clips were missing. He checked and apparently that is how they came in. The holes are there for mudguards or a bodykit. I didn't want to believe him, but you will see it on all of the cars. |
You should be able to get some plastic push in clips, would clean up the look, mine has the mud guards so no holes.

Yes, that is where the factory option rear mud guards mount. It is completely normal.
|
yep, mud guard holes.. standard on all canadian models. option in the states!
|
I have the mud guards on my car. I actually think they add to the appearance. Might just be me though.

How much extra did u pay for the ultra lightweight model?

Those holes are not related to the new rattle, as others have pointed out, they are for the mudgaurds. Look underneath to make sure they didn't leave any of the other push-in clips out.

Yep mine is all loose and rattley too. I can't wait to hear what this thing sounds like when I get the sub enclosure in the trunk. I'm sure I'll spend weeks with foam tape and extra hardware finding rattles in this thing. It's definitely not up to the Toyota build standard norm from what I've noticed so far...

Normal I have the same issue lol

Mudguards. I bought a set of OEM pushpins and they came with OEM mudguards. No instructions tho but when you line up the holes on the rear fender and the mudguards, perfect match.
|
Okay phew so ya I noticed the holes today in the rear wheel wells that look like they should have screws in them. However that area behind the rear wheels feels pretty loose. Is that normal too? Just picked up the car last week.
|
As others have already said, they're meant for mudguards.
I took a closer look and there's no point to bothering trying to put plastic fasteners in it to secure it better - the black plastic wheel well liner does not even have holes that line up, it just has ~1/2" square notches in it around where the holes are, so any fastener you did put in would have nothing to grip. It might be worthwhile if you find dirt or water accumulating inside the bumper cover, but anything you put in there will only attach to the bumper cover itself. |
