Not sure how many people may be following my thread but i would like to gauge some intrest here. I am highly thinking about taking my car out to PSI in portland and that them do a 2jz swap in my frs or just fully build the stock little more and turbo it on my own.

obaid 05-28-2013 02:35 PM

A swap is easy way to get power but if I had the money I would build the engine and get boost.

THA STI GUY 05-29-2013 09:14 PM

In the long run the car will be a full out drift car so really im looking for good reliable power with easy to make more power that is why i would like to go the 2j way. The subaru boxer engine has never been reliable til now that they finally beefed up the piston ringlands unlike the old boxer engine. But i would just hate to dump so much money into building this motor and having it fail or not hold up in the long run.

TylerLieberman 05-29-2013 09:37 PM

Unless you're shooting for over 500whp, I would honestly just opt for a 1JZ setup. They're barely not much more expensive than SR setups mow adays. I know they can easily make 400 with some bolt ons and a tune

drift94 05-29-2013 11:49 PM

^ +1

SmsAlSuwaidi 05-29-2013 11:56 PM

care to provide me with the garages info thats from portland, I'm interested in a 2j swap too

6-Shift 05-30-2013 12:28 AM

A 1jz will probably be plenty. 400hp in a 2400lb car is a LOT lol

http://www.tunedbypsi.com/ They are the guys that built Ryan Tuerck 2jz FRS. I have already talked to them about doing a dual caliper setup bracket and caliper and e brake setup for me off of what they made for his car bunch of good guys up there. As far as a 1jz goes that also could be possible to either or would be fine. I do want to eventually be around 400-500 hp in the end.

THA STI GUY 05-30-2013 02:19 AM

O ya forgot to add i just ordered a set of Powered By Max Pro Coilovers :D cant wait til they come in cause there is a two day drift event next weekend

THA STI GUY 06-05-2013 12:20 AM

Got these in for the FRS just in time for a two day drift event this weekend ill try and get some videos for once this weekend

PSI did a GREAT job on Tuercks car and I'm sure they would do the same for yours.

TylerLieberman 06-13-2013 06:03 PM

How much seat time do you get at those events in Colorado?

Curious cause I might be moving there early next year

THA STI GUY 06-19-2013 12:57 AM

On the practice days you get TONS on competion days you get to practice from 9-12 then the comp starts til about 4-5 and then they open the track back up for practicing. The last practice day i went to two weekends ago we drifted from 9am-9pm they gave us 30min on the track at a time we had so much time it was crazy. I went threw 6 tires just that day.

TylerLieberman 06-19-2013 09:08 AM

Awesome. Good to see that there is a lot of seat time available at that events. Colorado looks like it has a strong scene. I've seen videos of 4 different tracks/venues where events are held and it seems to be monthly out there.

Looks a million times better than the garbage scene we have in Oklahoma

THA STI GUY 06-20-2013 01:11 AM

Yeah the scene out there is very nice alot of drivers and plenty of good drivers as well. They usually have events every 2-3 weeks.

OICU812 06-20-2013 04:00 AM

6 tires in one day that's epic !

FRSupra 06-20-2013 09:48 AM

Love the supra and the 2jz, but kind of ruining the whole 86 thing by doing that. No point in buying the car other than it's looks then.

But its your car and I'm sure it will make for a good build.

If you really want to get technical if they wanted to bring back the full 86 experience they would of used a toyota motor not a subaru motor. So really i would be making the car more towards a true toyota experience :D just my 2 cents but like ive mentioned before i want good reliable power because this is will be going towards a full drift car not a daily driver.

Godzilla35 09-18-2013 01:51 AM

let me know how the hydro and dual caliper setup goes. I'm in talks with PSI as well for some other stuff. If anyone knows of a 1J swap for the FRS in the works, or already done, that would be so sick.

THA STI GUY 12-28-2013 12:35 PM

Little update on the car just got my rocket bunny over fenders in yesterday time to cut the car up and throw them on.

THA STI GUY 12-29-2013 01:33 AM

For now they will be paint matched but i may be picking up a couple sponsors for next drift season so it may be getting some kind of crazy vinyl wrap

THA STI GUY 01-05-2014 12:32 AM

Well today was the day to get down and dirty and cut my car up. Also to my knowing this is the First rocket bunny frs in South Dakota :D
