I don't thin they can use JDM headlights on US cars because the beam patterns are opposite ours.

If they're putting better headlights on this with US beam patterns, it may be something that's going to make its way to all FR-S's in a coming model year.

YourFearlessLeader 03-28-2013 11:08 AM

soooo the 10 series FR-s is basically a toyota GT86 now. nice!

grey as a special color? FAIL. I like grey, but everything looks argento???

Apex Chase 03-28-2013 11:09 AM

I want the headlights, push button start, climate control, and touch screen but not all the glowing emblems. C'mon 2014 FRS.

Sasquachulator 03-28-2013 11:11 AM

ahahah I knew it, waiting for the release series (well in this case the '10' series) gives us the GT86, minus fog lamps.

whtchocla7e 03-28-2013 11:15 AM

Nice although nothing that interests me.

ichitaka05 03-28-2013 11:16 AM

Finally they announced it!

It's kinda funny, they say "10,000" will be made. 10,000 / 5 = 2,500 each model will be made lol

neutron256 03-28-2013 11:18 AM

So... It's almost as good as a BRZ limited? LOL

My waiting to buy an FR-S is paying off, little by little.

bestwheelbase 03-28-2013 11:19 AM

"Solar-charged illuminating shift knob." Oh you mean glow-in-the-dark. I am really at a loss for words.

HID headlamps are nice, but this tacky light-up emblem thing is lame. LAME.

Beyer Subaru 03-28-2013 11:20 AM

Woot!! HID's, LED's Push Button Starter, Dual Zone, etc.. Can't wait to see what else is "new".

Ninja edit: And the June release is what I have been saying for months now and everybody was thinking they'd be here in Oct because of some Fleet Sales notice.

FR-Shadow 03-28-2013 11:20 AM

This really sucks they are only coming out with these in silver...oh well I will still stick to my raven.

NemesisPrime909 03-28-2013 11:20 AM

Why are they making the decision hard for me?

basically offering the GT86....

and the blueish silver is pretty

crap...

kbye 03-28-2013 11:21 AM

Was going for a brz limited but this may change my mind now...

gt865 03-28-2013 11:24 AM

It includes everything that deterred me from getting the frs in the first place (gt86 lights, clean HVAC, and push start)
Too bad since the badges illuminate, it'll be hard to change the scion badges to toyota-not to mention the word scion illuminating on the dash.
WRB BRZ here I come

turbos86 03-28-2013 11:24 AM

I wonder if we'll be able to purchase the headlights from the parts counter without them asking for our VINs.....

Just in the interest of Math, 10,000/5 = 2000....but:

Scion's website breaks it down differently:

2100 xBs
900 iQs
2500 FR-S
3500 tCs
1000 xDs

And, overall, I like what they did with these cars, aside from the illuminated badges. If Scion really wanted to blow people away, make it so you can change the colors :)

wbradley 03-28-2013 11:30 AM

The glowing emblem might be tacky to some, but is is pretty much a signature item from Tom's in Japan. And Tom's is pretty exclusive from what I have seen .

kthxbai 03-28-2013 11:30 AM

Basically the 10 series FRS is the GT86/BRZ Limited. My first reaction was feeling disappointed that I didn't wait for the 10 series FRS with all the GT86-like extras, but the Silver Ignition and all the light up accessories is definitely a turn off.

To each man/woman their own. I can appreciate the package they put together, but today I am even more happy with my purchase of the Whiteout! 10 series/Silver Ignition welcome to the Scion family!

Putting in a weighted shift knob, problem solved.

russv 03-28-2013 11:32 AM

I'm impressed by the go-fast stuff.:bonk:

Every parts counterman in every dealer will ask for your VIN to make sure that the part is applicable. VIN's change as well as parts get superceeded by other parts. But I would assume that you could provide your VIN and still be able to get the lights.

I had to provide a VIN for a Leggacy when I was looking at the Leggy antenna that comes color matched.

JETRED 03-28-2013 11:34 AM

Why did they pick such a boring color... sigh...

Also, if there are going to be light up gimmicks there better be rocket launchers too...

Still great to see the new GT86 goodies on it though and hopefully the new BeSpoke works better than the current unit!!!

Kiwi 03-28-2013 11:34 AM

...ew

The worse possible colour for the FRS.

Only want the headlights.
Hope this means that we will be able to order the HID headlights here at dealers, and it won't be as expensive as ordering online from Europe or Japan.

HunterGreene 03-28-2013 11:39 AM

I love how everyone is panning the color without seeing it in person, in the sun yet. Makes a complete difference. I'll reserve judgement until I can see one in person.

And Please please please, give me the headlights!

SkullWorks 03-28-2013 11:40 AM

I'm stoked for all the FRs guys who prefer that front end and felt short changed in the current offerings.

I'm not sure I like all the light up bits but that sort of thing is becoming more and more normal and this car definitely has lines that put it in the spotlight wherever you drive it anyway.

Funny thing here is this is the first of the "special editions" and will likely actually be worth some money someday...and to think Scion just legitimized their whole operation significantly in my estimation

Not my parts counterman/woman. I tell them the year of the vehicle and that's it.

JDMrolla 03-28-2013 11:42 AM

headlights and push start are nice, but only in silver :( and glowing stuff :(

kbye 03-28-2013 11:43 AM

Historically, parts dealers would not sell release series specific parts unless they provided a VIN as proof. I'd imagine they do the same for the 10 series specific parts.

UnOvertime 03-28-2013 11:46 AM

I will reserve judgment on the color as well. I did not like the Whiteout until I saw it a few times and it really grew on me.

Not to crazy about the light up gizmos, but to each their own. Push button would be cool, but it is not a necessary feature. However I do think most people will be excited by the GT86 headlights. EL dash display might be a nice accent if you have the option to change colors.

ScurrilousKnave 03-28-2013 11:46 AM

I'm actually digging it. I wanted a silver FR-S anyways, and I prefer the bluish silver available on some cars in the past. As long as the price is right, I'd get it.

SnapOv3st3r 03-28-2013 11:50 AM

First order of business would be to disable the illuminating tid bits, replace shift knob and look like a normal FR-S but with GT86 everything else....lol.

GT86drifter 03-28-2013 11:52 AM

meh all i want is the JDM headlights....i can get those separate.

and i definately dont want a glowing scion on my dash

#87 03-28-2013 11:56 AM

JDM style headlights

Plus bit doesn't matter, all they have to do us reverse the blueprints.

Also, there is a member that has them on his USDM FRS. All he did was change the way the bulb was pointing.

Dual climate control and push to start also. And leather/alcantara seats...
