Enkei RPF1 or TSW Nurburgring

About to get a set of wheels for summer with Hankook RS3s so I can use them for a few track days a year as well as my daily drive.

Was ready to pull the trigger on the Enkei RPF1s in 17" but my tire shop suggested the TSWs. TSWs will be a bit cheaper. But they weigh 3lbs more. Enkeis would probably be easier to sell later on. Both are the same size - 17x8 et45.

Please vote and offer your comments. My car is white so the pics below are a pretty good representation of what things will look like.

Pics (thanks to the owners of the photos - let me know if you want me not to use):

rpf1 in that size/offset is weak they dont look good that way. the other wheels on the other hand look pretty spiffy in those specs.

Gearhd79 03-23-2013 09:01 AM

If its mostly a DD then i would go with the tsw they are a big heavier but they look better

DarkSunrise 03-23-2013 09:02 AM

The Nurburgring's look better to me.

Another dark/black wheel you might want to consider are Rota Titans in flat black. In terms of weight, they split the difference between the two you're considering, and are about the same price as the TSW's:

I really don't like a black wheel. Gun metal is nicer

russv 03-23-2013 12:53 PM

Agree with @speedy the rpf 1 looks a bit weak. Liking the TSW's!

Wes 03-23-2013 01:05 PM

RPF1 only if you are getting 17x9 (since any other width looks weak), if not the just go TSW Nurburgring

Superhatch 03-23-2013 01:17 PM

That's the crappy thing about the RPF1. Unless you get it in a size that you don't need, they don't look as good as other wheels. My Dunop Z2 245/40/17"s on a 17x8" wheel just doesn't look as good as if you get an 18 wheel with an offset you normally wouldn't use for the track, yet that's PLENTY of tire for this car in stock or bolt on trim. But on the same token, when I see someone with an RPF1 on with a sticky tire, I assume they made the choice based on performance, and thus I like their choice regardless of how it looks.

Stuck on this decision too. Gold rpf1 vs bronze nurbs.

BRZKG 03-23-2013 03:29 PM

I like RPF1 very much, but in this size they look a bit weird. TSW Nurburgring is not my favorite wheel, but looks better.

Gearhd79 03-23-2013 09:18 PM

well im also a bit stuck in the same situation you are in. I really like the "look" of the RPF1 in the 9" due to the flat spokes ..but they will not fit the big brakes if you go with a 45 off set. If I went with the RPF1's,I would have to go 17x8 +45 and the rim has the curved spokes (wich i hate) ..but the weight and strenth is the best for the price.

ilpad 03-23-2013 09:24 PM

I think the RPF1's look great, but the car needs a bit of a drop to make them look agressive.

The RPF1's are a conundrum of sorts tho since they are a great track wheel in a 17, but lose that performance edge when u jump them up to an 18 to look better... choices choices.

I too am in the boat of wheel upgrading and its a bitch to make a decision. Maybe Ill just get hammered and order before I pass out and see what I end up with in a week when they show up?

Well you know who I voted for.

Brzzee 03-23-2013 11:50 PM

TSW has my vote. The Nurburgring claims a lighter rim. The reduced rotational mass appeals. My white BRZ may find it's new shoes from TSW. I'm a fan of 18x8.5 rims with Michelin 245.35.18 squared for a NA set-up.

RPF1's! But get them in SBC!

There chrome, it's just the angle making them look smoked. I have a set on my Celica in 18x9.5 +38 and I l LOVE the way they look.

Looks aside you're getting a much better quality wheel with the RPF1.

seanmc69 03-24-2013 07:18 PM

TSW Nurburgring much better look.... to me anyways

rpf01 with flat spokes

Thanks all for the help. Decided to go with the TSWs for now as it will be a daily driver. Will get a dedicated set of track wheels if I find myself going enough.

Interesting that the poll remains tied at 29. Was tied a few days ago at 18.

RPF1s need to be in silver, black doesn't work with them like it does with other wheels.

RPF1. No questions and hands down.

dori. 03-29-2013 05:59 AM

since you want them fr track days, RPF01.

otherwise I'd say choose anything else

BlaineWasHere 03-29-2013 11:35 AM

I just ordered 17x9 RPF1s for autoX/track. I have 17x9 rota grids for street.
