Kanundrum's Progress

Old Thread I am transferring Over to Progress just for a central location. Enjoy

So

Picked up my Fr-S Friday morning June 1st.
I have had it for 36 Hours, the car now has 300 Miles on it and has gone thru the 1st tank of Gas.

http://i48.tinypic.com/2r7rjt4.jpg

A Few things.

Gas Light Comes on at around when there is about 2 gallons left (Tank capacity is 13.2).

The Stick Shift Vibrates a lot (Normal?)
The motor sounds very clicky at idle (Normal?)
Backseats are 100% useless and cargo capacity cannot fit a party sized cooler full of beer(haha).

http://i45.tinypic.com/4kfips.jpg

Seats are excellent how ever it sucks it looses memory every time I move it to access the rear.

I am a portly fellow so I do have to make sure I do not smack my head every time I get in. Sound system is adequate but def distorts when you crank it all the way up.

On my way home from the dealership in the evening after work we had massive downpour and flooding in our area and the car handled it like a champ with water almost coming up to the front end!

http://i48.tinypic.com/2m4owoz.jpg

Autocrossing: Autocrossed it less than 24 hours after I got the vehicle (while still staying under 4k Rpms, setup the shift light to light up at 4k rpms) and I am still keeping up with Subaru STI's very easily timing wise. When this thing goes full throttle I am sure there will be no contest.

Deer Incident: I did a relay walk for cancer from 6pm to about 3am( went until 6am but was too tired) and on my way home from leesburg, VA to Columbia, MD on 267 of VA a deer jumped in front of me. Keep in mind I had a whole cooler full of beer behind my seat and so I took super evasive actions at around 75mph.

Literally going from 1 lane to 2 lanes over (no cars were beside me) I know the general rule of thumb is to not turn because thats how crashes occur but I was not going to even come close to that deer with my car less than 48 hours old!

So evasive action at 75mph the car was violently shocked and it felt very sudden and the chassis was definitely upset but it handled it all like a champ, the electronic systems kept me in a straight general direction and MAN I was impressed. Dodged the deer and pulled over 1/2 mile later after I stopped shaking from the sudden shock and went out to check my car.

Not a scratch! This car is definitely champ and as I hoe you do not encounter these situations, in the event you do the car will have your back for sure.

Went to NY to put some miles on the car and get a Shawarma/falafel/chicken and rice, good fun. Car now has 820 miles (Got it June 1st). Break in time almost over!

@kanundrum, man you love that carbon fiber. I remember the install pics of it on your saab on the forums! Lol. Nice to see the FRS and the Saab side by side.

How do you find going form one car to the other?

Lonewolf 03-28-2013 09:18 PM

Man that ride is a bad bitch...

Is the turbo install completed?

Bonus points for the grumpy cat sticker...lol

Haha Well I had the TurboX And that got wrecked so now I have a SUV and its both nice and interesting always going from one car to another. The driving styles between my saab suv and the frs are so opposite I love having both as they compliment each other very well.

Yes I do love my carbon fiber and it should be mandatory on all cars!! Its very safe too haha

Probably not until it becomes a full on race car (if it happens)

I'm partial to CF on pearl white :D Are you going to paint it when the CF clouds? How much did the rear seats weigh?

CF shouldn't cloud its been treated pretty well and the car is garage kept so let's see. Seats weighed like 35lbs I think

Yeah, I've had a CF hood on my VR4 for about 8 years and it still looks brand new, but it barely sees sunlight. I've seen others that weren't so fortunate.

Do you have any more pics of the interior sans seats? How is the Seibon hood fitment? A nice thing about the unpainted hood is that if the gaps aren't quite right, the dark hood hides it.

BlueDubbinTDI 08-28-2013 12:42 AM

I say color match the hood and get cf skirts and front lip. Thumbs up for all the carbon though god knows that wasn't cheap :)
