On the bright side, it will keep the young ricers off the 86/BRZ for a few years (least until it becomes an affordable second hand like the Civic EG / EK).

Will the BRZ ever be driven on a dry track? :(

It's only estimated. No one actually knows the price until the car comes out so don't get too worked up about it just yet.

The price is reflected isn't for the U.S. correct?

On the side note, how much is a civic in Australia?

Price is for Australia. A Civic is between A$25k to A$34 here. FN2 Civic Type R is around A$40k.

So if it's at 40k, it really isn't out of the world price.

For starters most reviews of the 86 estimate the price to be within 35-40k .... I think this has been based on Tada-san possibly saying that it will be less than 40k (don't quote me on that I could be wrong).

Hrmm....dealers? I wouldn't trust their pricing just yet. I've spoken to a dealer and he doesn't know the price yet. So best to just wait it out until we get official confirmation.

Damn. Going if that interior, I hope that's the top spec we get. I also hope that the 39990 est is for the top spec

Judging by Toyota Australia standard pricing.

It will be $39,990 retail price, with drive away of $42,350 AUD.

Good thing, I have relatives who can get discount of 17%, so around $35,000 AUD drive away... spend that savings on new wheels 18x7.5, 18x8.5 Work Wheels..... and booyah!

I am not going to panic on price because the head of Sub-Aus Nick Senior has quoted rough pricing as low mid $30k to under $40k and the Subaru will be the top of the line model with only one option.So you could expect the Toyota 86 to start around $5-$7k lower for the the base model.
Why would he even float numbers if it had no truth to the subject.

Depends of your definition of young, Im 27 and its within my reach.

With 12.5:1 ratio? Salt grain please.

Personally if its anything more than $40k drive away, I will be seriously considering a 2009 - 2011 STi, as they can be had for less than $50k.

Something tells me that dealer discounts wont apply to a first release.
