Looking for a loud exhaust

Hey guys,
I'm looking for an exhaust that's loud but not ricey. Something along the lines of the j2 quad tips exhaust. I really like the sound of them so I bought it but when I got it, the midpipe was slightly bent so the back of the midpipe would hit the gas tank if fully bolted so. So I'm getting a refund and looking for something similar. I had the Tsudo exhaust before as well which I really liked, but didn't seem loud enough. Anyone have any suggestions? My current price range is $400-700. Something along those lines.

Much appreciation,
Raymond

look at the buddy club spec 2 in the single exit exhaust thread. theres a sound clip too

edit: its not quad tip but its loud also its around 500$

JoeBoxer 03-20-2013 03:17 AM

Crawford Gymkhana spec exhaust doesn't have mufflers, its pretty loud. Invidia N1 can be had in your price range also

cdo221 03-20-2013 03:18 AM

Greddy Evo3 - remove the silencers and its LOUD - a little above your price range but I think it's worth it. MSRP is around 800, 850, but I think vendors sell it around here for less than $800

I'm not a big fan of single tips in the FRS.

The gymkhana is similar to what I'm looking for. Just wondering how I would install it. Installing exhausts has been a drag for me an my friends since this is my first car and all.

XPR Small Block 03-20-2013 03:24 AM

yea im thinkin about getting for the fact its pretty much a straight pipe

That's a bit too much. $700 is a really steep for me already. I'm on a really tight budget atm

cdo221 03-20-2013 03:32 AM

Are you looking for only a catback? A couple of the axle back muffler deletes are loud, sound pretty good, and fits in your price range.

Nameless, Berk, Works - all 3 make muffler deletes that sound pretty good.

cdo221 03-20-2013 03:36 AM

Oh about the quad tip.. I could be wrong but I think the J2 is the only exhaust with quad tips that fit in the stock bumper holes. There are other quad tips out there, the TRD Japan one comes to mind, but I think they all require a special bumper or bumper cut-off/shaving to fit.

To be honest, I have no freaking idea between catbacks and axlebacks lol. But ill definitely look into those!

I'm not looking for specifically a quad tip, but I just like how they look. Especially the Toms ISF. Too bad it's not in my price range lol

a cat back is an exhaust system that starts at the cat, converter to the rear of the car an axle back exhaust starts at the rear axle

So basically, the catback is from the mid/front to the back while the axleback is just in the back? O.o

Tylub 03-20-2013 03:45 AM

just get the Berk's muffler delete. loud AF but you're going to learn to live with some drone

XPR Small Block 03-20-2013 03:45 AM

right. a axle back will just replace your muffler not the rest of the pipe up front

Yea that's right, basically

cat back = replaces the pipe + muffler
axle back = replaces just the muffler

Berk Muffler Delete - most popular AB - it's loud, sounds good, high quality build and cheap. Around $300 - however it has drone

Info here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...muffler+delete

Works Resonated Delete Muffler Delete (AKA Works AB or Works AB-R) - Similar to the Berk but has a resonator built-in eliminates drone. A little pricier at $400 - some people have issues with the fact that it's made of aluminum rather than steel but it's very light weight.

Info here (along with a bunch of other Works exhausts):
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24472

Nameless Axleback - Lots of different choices, and probably the most "brand name" axle back out of the bunch. It's pricer though, around $500-$600 but you can choose exactly how loud you're gonna be. Complete muffler delete vs. 4" muffler vs. 5" muffler.

Info here:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...eless+axleback
http://shop.namelessperformance.com/...eback-exhaust/

I think if you're on a budget, Berk is going to be the most recommended choice if you're looking for better and louder sound over stock. Most people are gonna be happy with either the Berk or Works. But, if you can afford it, the Nameless ones are going to be a better bet cuz you can choose your exact muffler size or no muffler at all. There's also a 3" pipes version which is even louder, plus offset vs non-offset,... etc.

EDIT: actually, the 3" nameless ones are out of your price range.. but the 2.5" ones are highly recommended anyway

JoeBoxer 03-20-2013 03:58 AM

I was gonna say get a non-catted front pipe and nameless axleback but being in Cali you might not want to remove the secondary cat.

XPR Small Block 03-20-2013 04:03 AM

im removing both cats when its all said an done, im waiting for nameless catless header, the getting the catless over/front pipe with the buddy club spec 2 i live in a smogless county

That's gonna be extremely loud, the BC spec 2 is loud on an otherwise stock car.

XPR Small Block 03-20-2013 04:06 AM

thats the plan

XPR Small Block 03-20-2013 04:14 AM

still dont know who's best to get a tune from..

OrbitalEllipses 03-20-2013 10:59 AM

Loud and cheap? Agency Power.

Wouldn't be my choice, but I know for a fact it's loud.

agreed not my choice either, I just heard AP's exhaust on @SMOKETREES car, and it sounds great, if you like low rumbly and mean sounding-I liked it!

Works is actually Aluminized Steel, but you're right it is lighter than stainless steel.

Loud exhaust

If loud and not ricey is what you are looking for you have to go with the INJEN SES exhaust.

I have bought it myself, put it on yesterday. But dammmm, that thing is loud!!!! Even more with a secondary cat delete pipe !!!!
120 db with secondary cat delete pipe at 2 meters behind the car and
102 db with stock front pipe.

The sound is nice, it's just plain deep noise, no metal, just very very deep.

Driving at 50-60 kph parts of the interior make noise because of the vibration.
You can feel in your seat as well.

All in all a very loud exhaust, build quality is incredible !! And looks awesome.

It's too loud for me, so I'm looking out for something more driveable as a DD. Also it can't produce more then 90db since circuits here in Belgium don't allow more...

I'm selling mine, but guess you're too far away...

Blue86 03-20-2013 11:28 AM

Resonated muffler delete and a high flow cat will do the trick trust me :-)

:slap:

Then you have the wrong hobby.

If you want loud, cheap, and easy to install get an axleback.

Nah it's just that every exhaust we try to install, there's always something wrong

scionfr_s 03-20-2013 09:54 PM

Lol I just bought it, but it was faulty. Like the pipe was fucked up so it didn't fit on properly. So I ended up returning it today

Mr.Jay 03-20-2013 10:35 PM

SRT no resonator will get you LOUD. SRT with resonator is loud. Autofactory is making everyone outside the car deaf

Now I'm debating whether to get the nameless ab muffler delete or a invidia n1 with a catted front pipe. Any suggestions or opinions on either?

Thats gonna cost A LOT more than your original 400 - 700 price range.

if you want inexpensive and most power gains for your dollar, get a de catted front pipe (cheap) and a muffler delete axle back (like the works) it will be loud and probably sneak right into your budget.

If you want quality exhaust sound you could spend a little more and get one of the nameless axle backs along with a resonated front pipe (should cut down the drone, depending which front pipe you go with could come in a little over your inital budget, you can probbly find a used nameless axleback in the for sale section if you wait a couple weeks since new versions are shipping now).

If you want proven gains and daily driver freindly sound that gets agressive when your on the go pedal get the nameless front / over pipe and axle back combo for right around 1,060. http://shop.namelessperformance.com/...aces-overpipe/

With the "replaces over pipe" options you will need to undo the bolt on the passanger side engine mount and jack up the engine a couple inches to install the front pipe. You can also go with a "factory fit" front pipe that does not require lifting the engine, but does not replace the overpipe.

If you want to spend as much as possible, do a full header back like your talking about with an N1 catback and front pipe combo... but there are better choices power wise than the N1.

I'm not really looking for performance. I'm more for the sound

thejevans 03-21-2013 11:52 AM

I have the Agency Power Header-back. It sounds great, and it's loud enough that it rattles my headliner. I have to put some sound deadening up there.

The combo with the n1 catback and the front pipe is a little less than 800. More than my budget, but from the video I heard of it, I think it's worth it. But I've been liking the sound of the nameless axleback muffler delete. But I don't think it's loud enough for my taste
