Bad/Dangerous Driver

Hey All

Since our cars are cursed and all I thought we should start a thread to warn other of shitty drivers to watch out for. Here is my 1st (of many) videos

Yep then I reported it and brought down the video to the police station gave them my statement and the vid and now the driver has a couple tickets coming his way

Yruyur 03-18-2013 08:00 PM

Ye. I also hope he gets his license taken away too.

Beyer Subaru 03-18-2013 09:00 PM

Reminds me of everyday driving. It seems as though he was kinda pissed at you? Was there something in the video we didn't see? Were you following to close or trying to cut him off before the video we saw?

I've avoided hundreds of accidents everyday over the years. The few that I've been in were as a passenger and ones that if I was driving I would have avoided.

The easiest thing to do is just let off the gas and let them pass. They always will and they'll get in an accident with the next guy down the road.

I think it also helps that I've been able to drive in Mexico, India, Thailand, etc.. What y'all just saw was nothing in comparison.

Giccin 03-18-2013 09:15 PM

WUT DASH CAM IS THAT!?

Its so clear! lol

although the blackvue seems a bit more appealing right now.

Playing devil's advocate here.

Is there a chance now that you have that camera, there could be some tomfoolery that might incite somebody to start driving aggressively towards you? Then you could bring said video to the local constables (editing out the prodding, of course), so they could get their just deserts?

Just sayin'...

If that's not your motive--good on you!

I highly doubt that was what happened here. Taxi drivers are usually pretty rude because they spend hours and hours a day behind the wheel and start to feel a sense of entitlement to the road. Maybe because they have somewhere to be or maybe they sort of develop a hatred/prejudice towards a certain demographic vehicles. I find it hard to believe this guy got a camera just so he could waste his time at the police station to ruin somebody else's driving history.

I agree. Tow truck drivers are up there as far as crazy drivers as well.

Wow, what a douche. Glad he's getting what's coming to him. Mr. Jay is a decent and calm dude. Met him a few times on the road, and at a meet, so I doubt he has the intent to screw someone over.

We were on the highway before and he was way ahead of me. We didn't encounter each other until this exit. I can upload more of the video if you want.

He was pissed at me for honking at him when I pulled up beside him which I totally thought was a fair move considering how badly he cut me off at that turn there.

Actually I got the cam as the insurance company here has screwed me twice when I was involved in accidents both times the other party deny hitting me and ICBC took their side. Another time I totally a car dude to someone cutting blindly in front of me (GPS driver) slightly hit me but didn't stop and I didn't grab the plate.

lol I do find it funny how I am getting asked if I did anything when I am soo far away from him at the start and even after he cuts me off I keep a good distance instead of riding his ass

Its the DVR 027 and actually I downgraded the quality cause uploading 720p HD onto youtube takes way too long on my crappy computer.

if you guys want I have no prob uploading a much larger file that shows us on the highway.

Here is the full vid before the incident.

I didn't look at the second video. I trust you. But you have to learn to be better than the next guy or you will always think that something is a "fair" move.

For me it's what you say right here - "he cut me off at that turn there." To cut someone off is normal, everyday driving. He might not have seen you. He is obviously a very poor driver in a much slower, awful handling car.

I deal with asshats like this every night coming home from work. I just give them a very wide birth and let them have their own shennanigans behind me.

If you had given him a little more room/time to adjust to the exit, construction, turn, etc he would have made the right turn and been on his way.
You were behind him and could have easily let off the gas to give more of a following distance.

What did your law enforcement have to say about the "cut off" part of the video?

I understand that they will have a hard time with when he swerves at you. That's just dangerous and reckless.

whaap 03-19-2013 09:17 AM

Cabbie was definetly wrong. But, I can add that I would not have had the problem the op had. I would not have attempted to pass him on the right when I was in the right/exit lane. I would have already figured there was a chance he would be switching lanes and I would have given him room. Going one step further I would not have later passed him on the left and given him a honk. My thinking might be unusual but it's the thinking that kept me alive riding motorcycles for over 60 years. It's called defensive driving.

Yerp. My sentiments exactly.

HunterGreene 03-19-2013 09:21 AM

Subscribed. I will be mounting my dash cam soon, I will be happy to post asshat drivers when they transgress as well.

Like the moron in the Cherokee this AM who apparently has never heard of a turn signal, and cut me off getting on the onramp this AM.

Spd229 03-19-2013 09:37 AM

This happens everyday in atlanta. Same exits too; granted there are a number of exits where you know stupid shit like this will happen. And I think it's just a taxi driver thing as people have mentioned. They'll cut you off anywhere.

Then there's the douchebags in parking garages who ride your ass because you take the right gate that's more accommodating to lower cars and then have to turn left across their gate (there's only 2). Granted, they're rushing the gate as soon as it opens and then act hurt because you cut them off apparently. Generally when I see someone in the other gate I give them a second if we pull in at the same time, but people are apparently in a huge ass hurry.

Sorry, that's like the 2nd time or more in the last two weeks I've had someone nearly t-bone me in that garage because they rush the gate. I even turn on my signal to let people know I'm going to have to cut across as I park on a different level and have to turn left.

To OP, no offense to you. These kinds of drivers are everywhere: they take the *shortest* route or whatever route they felt like it. On that particular exit, the right-turn lane is extended to the right. Maybe the text driver had the intention to turn right, it just that he did not bear right at the *first possible* chance. In stead, he chose the *shortest* path from the point when the exit is expanded into 3 lanes to the right most lane. Kind of like this:

(exit)
*******|
*****/*|
****/**|
***/***|
**/***/
*/***/

The left line instead of the right.

I am also interested to see what the LEO would say about the first cut-me-off since that happens so frequently that someone will try to exit at the last second on the high way/local way. Being behind on the correct lane, you always need to watch out for those drivers, being on defensive driving side. If I were to pass on the right, I would have to ensure that driver on my left has no intention to bear right while I was passing.

PS: The angle on your camera is a bit off to the right. I wonder if there is any special meaning to it.

You may, good sir. You may indeed.

M-17 03-19-2013 03:23 PM

Typically that wouldn't piss me off. I'd let it go. There's always someone who almost forgets to take their exit. Not the smartest thing to do at the last minute, yes, but sometimes I'll give people a break because I'd like to think that had that been me I'd hope the other driver I'm about to cut off doesn't thing I'm a total a-hole. Someone always get mad if you sound your horn off at them. Yeah, so they'll usually respond by shouting out explicit verbal things at you, flip you off, or there are others whom want to intimidate you too, but this is nothing that would bother me to tell on the other driver to the cops. Maybe just enough to let his superiors at that cab business he's driving like a fool and let them handle with cab driver.

I'd bring the cops in the picture if the driver intentionally continues to make reckless maneuvers against me that can or will cause an accident to me or to other drivers, stops to get out of their car in middle of traffic with a weapon, or actually hits my car and tries to run for it.

I'm glad you kept your composer @Mr.Jay and did what you believe was best in your situation than having things escalate to a petty feud on the road or worse.

So now we're yelling at people for properly apexing?

norsamerican 03-19-2013 03:35 PM

i wish i had a camera in my car. I watched an individual at a four way light go thru a light, stop, make a u-turn, and face traffic. my light went green and he was sitting there facing me about 300 feet away in plain daylight. My question was..what light was he using becuase all he would be able to see is the backs of stoplights.

If you think public roads are a big giant circuit...

Come to think of it, how many on track accidents happened in this situation. Luckily that does not happen to OP.

Mr.Jay 03-19-2013 10:43 PM

The LEO said that the 1st cut off was really bad since there was no signal or any indication of him wanting to turn. He suggested next time I don't honk but said that the driving done by the taxi had no excuses for what he did and will be getting a phone call and a couple of tickets coming his way.

Normally I agree with you all about keeping calm but I'm not sure you guys know the situation of Bonny's here. They are known for hiring bad drivers and sticking up for each other, the havent had a working complaint section for years. I originally tried to take the issue to the company and was ingored. All emails got no response and when I called in I was called a lair and such even though I told them I had a video.

These guys are known to gang up on people here is just a sampling of what they are like. From the local car forums.

http://www.revscene.net/forums/62341...-rage-~~~.html Ganging up on someone they cut off

http://www.revscene.net/forums/48270...g-hit-run.html : hit and run from a Bonny's cab

either way this thread is meant for those of us who have cams to post up bad drivers that we encounter on the road

EDIT: My camera is tilted cause I hardwired it in a hurry and afterwards it didn't bug me enough to fix it.

I was expecting Richmond, but that is Burnaby exit before Willingdon, right? I think the cops have given up on the terrible drivers in Richmond. I was on the Skytrain at Lansdowne a few weeks ago and the RCMP were handling out reflective arm bands to pedestrians with a 'don't get hit by a car' safety pamphlet instead of taking the licenses away from every premium vehicle brand driver there (and cabbies everywhere)...

Also: How the hell didn't he hear you??? Heh...

Yep exact location! When I am in Richmond I like to drive like there could be a bomb around every corner lol cause you just never know

I am sure he heard me and just didn't care. To me it seems like it was one of those I drive a car and you have a new car which one of us cares more.

Update: I called Bonny's again and this time they said they are reviewing it and will contact me back. seems like a couple of other people have sent them my video as well.

I got another vid to upload its from yesterday driving home. GPS driver goes into the left turn lane I am in the middle lane then at the intersection he doesnt turn left but back into my lane.

Mr.Jay 03-20-2013 10:25 PM

Yaris GPS driving. Goes from the center lane to the left turn lane then decided to merge back while I am right next to him right as we enter the intersection
