BRZ on sale in May

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,

I have access to Subaru's marketing site and they post up their future marketing plans each month. This month's presentation included the following slide, confirming May 2012 on sale date for the BRZ:

Attachment 4073

I know that has been the rumored on sale date all along but this is the first I've seen it from an official Subaru source. The site is subarumarketing.com and anyone can make an account, but it is supposed to be confidential which is why I made this account.

 bunch of good news today.

Giccin 01-05-2012 02:24 PM

Nice Find!

ubersoph 01-05-2012 02:30 PM

Does this mean we have ordering information now too?

no_name 01-05-2012 02:33 PM

Not on the list: "Announce BRZ Pricing"
I really hope they do that next week at the NAIAS

Dunkindoanuts 01-05-2012 02:37 PM

Wonder when we will start seeing TV commercials..

keiri 01-05-2012 02:38 PM

Love your username; brilliant.

Thanks for another confirmation source.

ft86Fan 01-05-2012 02:39 PM

Good news. Thanks.

ZetaVI 01-05-2012 02:43 PM

Nice. I was hoping it would be on sale during May.

Your statement makes absolutely zero sense.

You have to be a "dealer or advertising agent." I put the name of my local dealer and they gave me an account...

They approve new accounts, so however he got in, he doesn't want to lose his account. I'm sure if we all created an account all it would do is annoy them while they are declining us all :)

Sweet, post up a screen shot

chate 01-05-2012 03:47 PM

thanks! I too hope next week they announce at least price ranges!

onbooSTi 01-05-2012 04:46 PM

I am surprised this guy would post this information! It says "CONFIDENTIAL" on the first slide. Not cool in my book. Wait till that info hits the media pages.

Dave-ROR 01-05-2012 04:51 PM

Eh, it's basically what everyone already expected. It's just confirmation.

throwawayacct 01-30-2012 12:18 PM

Hello again,

The marketing plan for February has been posted, and this time it includes this line:

May 2012: 13MY Subaru BRZ arrives at dealerships

Tbxgz 01-30-2012 12:21 PM

So is that the first round of pre orders?

Huge audiences, but probably not the right audiences

Zaku 01-30-2012 12:49 PM

They did shoot an FRS commercial recently.... hmm superbowl

Rabble 01-30-2012 01:49 PM

Are you kidding? The Superbowl is the perfect spot for an FRS/BRZ ad, biggest captive audience in the USA.

glorydays 01-30-2012 02:15 PM

Ask the GenCoupe. worked great for them.

Scion/Subaru got nothing else left to leak. It's pricing time dammit! :mad0260:

Tbxgz 01-30-2012 03:25 PM

So when they say may release is that when the dealers start taking orders or is that when the first round of pre orders are expected to show up at the dealerships?

I would think when they actually get there and that you would pre-order maybe 7 weeks prior.

Tbxgz 01-30-2012 03:28 PM

Great thanks!

I was told by the salesperson I have my deposit with that it would be 6-8 weeks after the order is placed to get the car. I'm thinking late March or early April for the actual pre-orders to take place.

That's what I'm hoping for as well.

Tbxgz 01-31-2012 10:01 AM

Didnt want to create a new thread for this so ill just latch on to this one since it didnt get locked.

The general impression I'm hearing is that the BRZ/FRS will not be able to sell. just the impression I'm getting from talking to people at the DC auto show and browsing other car forums. We are all obviously biased, this is a BRZ forum however consider the following.

This car is obviously marketed towards a younger audience. Overall, an audience that doesn't have 23-28k to spend on a car. As the Yen has been up and the dollar down, the US starting price, will be hard to determine but basically, the car started out as a budget sports car that quickly cost a lot due to heavy development.

Now there has been a large spike of interest but thats all based off speculation with no price tag. After the initial burst of buyers, will this car continue to sell? In the 23-28k range there are lots of other options that arguably offer more bang for the buck that also appeal to a wider group of people. The 25k price range is a tricky demograph. Mostly 17-30 year olds that are either a true enthusiasts, or b have a good amount of disposable income. Thats a small niche. Now due to the so so interior, and un useable back seat, the other options are going to be strongly considered/ cross shopped. What are your guys thoughts? Will this car still sell after the initial bubble? Will we still see it in production 5 years from now? I'm not saying it wont, just striking up a talking point... since we still have 4 months to wait...

Dave-ROR 01-31-2012 10:33 AM

Probably half or more of the car enthusiasts I am friends with either plan to buy this car or are very interested in the car. It won't sell to non-enthusiasts but I'm assuming Subaru/Toyota already knew that.

Same here. I actually was really surprised, I went to a car show with some college friends, one of whom drives a Mustang GT with straight pipes. I never would've thought he would even consider the FRS but it turns out it was the one car he was hoping to see there and thinking of buying. I think they will sell plenty of them if it is cheap enough.

Tbxgz 01-31-2012 11:16 AM

Ya price has a lot to do with it. My experience was different. The people at the auto show practically ran away when the guy said it will start around 25.

Zaku 01-31-2012 11:17 AM

Well I was told there that It would start around mid 20's but the model that was being shown was the higher tier so expect it to cost more. I'm just gonna sit n wait to see the numbers on a paper stuck to the side of the window on a lot. LOL

Longhorn248 01-31-2012 11:34 AM

If the BRZ starts closer to $28K I'll be looking at used 370's.

Zaku 01-31-2012 11:46 AM

Im gonna stick it out with these cars, lol but i do love 370z, gonna see if FRS and BRZ premium will be at least civic si level or TC level if it is or exceed ill get one if not i might up my game to limited, not in a hurry.
