J2 engineering exhaust review

6 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone this is my first post ever so bare with me, I'm a little nervous. Anyways I purchased the J2 engineering exhaust from eBay for $350 shipped. I bought the dual tip design because I liked it better then the quad. I thought the sound wasn't going to be that great Because it was so cheap. Well when I got it I noticed the quality very good and solid I couldn't wait to put it on. It fit perfectly and the sound was exactly what I was looking for. Here are some pictures and videos. Sorry that one of the, is blurry my girlfriend didn't know how to focus.

Damn, might want to edit out the "fucking asians" quote @ 2:09 from your last video there. Slow your roll...

Xdragonxb0i 03-15-2013 01:17 AM

Watch your mouth boy

TyperRspec789 03-15-2013 01:17 AM

Hm, looks like I'm not the only one in MD using their products. I'm very happy with my front pipe. Btw, do you not go to car meets? Check the midatlantic forum if you want to meet some of the other forum members.

Oh and... I'm asian.

victorb 03-15-2013 02:32 AM

sounds great man! what did your butt dyno say?

sidnacious 03-15-2013 02:58 AM

Bare with me, I'm asian; you're driving a fucking asian car!

Roberto12 03-15-2013 08:15 AM

I know I'm so sorry I didn't mean it that way considering that I am half Filipino. It was just a reaction since he almost hit my car.

DantKR 03-15-2013 08:45 AM

Come on. Give the guy some slack. I'm Puerto Rican and every time I go to Puerto Rico I know I say "Fuckin' Ricans" At least 50 times a day(fuckers can't drive for shit. My cousin who drives us around being one of them. "Oh, past midnight you don't need to stop for red lights...............")

Kodename47 03-15-2013 11:43 AM

Was this their full system including the front pipe or just the cat-back (mid and backbox)? I'm assuming it's the 2nd for that price.

shu5892001 03-15-2013 11:49 AM

I'm asian, you are driving an asian car with a budget exhaust made in asia....

shu5892001 03-15-2013 11:51 AM

On a side note, nice exhaust, this exhaust is a good and cheaper alternative to the ARK Grip!

To Roberto--How much drone is there at highway cruising speeds? Aka, 6th gear, 70 mph. Can you have a normal conversation without yelling?

Just for clarification, do you have the axel-back, or cat-back?

Scooter Style 03-16-2013 09:25 PM

Looks good. Is it raspy on de acceleration? ALso any chance you could take video outside the car with some flybye's?

Jarumie42172 03-16-2013 10:04 PM

I have the cat-back myself, it was a pain for my to install it wasn't just a bolt on for me had to do some bending to make it fit properly and I had to buy extra nut and bolts plus 2 more gaskets.

On the good side though, it sounds amazing the acceleration sound has a deep tone almost resembles the impreza sound. During high way speed around 3k rpm the is little to no sound in the cabin. At idle its deeper than stock but not too loud.

Do you think that axel-back would present the same difficulty?

Depends some people didnt have difficulty putting it on it was a straight bolt on. It depends on what you get if you got lucky or not.

I have the full cat back.

NYCsubaruBRZ 05-01-2013 11:38 PM

i just got the same j2 dual tip exhaust but the connection between the j2 midpipe and the stock cat pipe does not work. the j2 midpipe is 2.75in, the stock cat pipe is a male ball and cup flange that needs a female 3in. the j2 midpipe flange is too small and wont fit the 3in ball

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

m.wood0213 05-02-2013 12:16 AM

sounds good and good price but way too loud for a dd for me.

6-Shift 05-02-2013 12:46 AM

In person this exhaust sounds awesome, and for $413 on Ebay currently you can't beat it

Woah! Easy! There's no need for shouting.

Besides, yelling at people here won't get your problem solved since ft86Club.com is not exactly the J2E Customer Service Department.

That said, I would first recommend that you contact J2E and see if they can help. If you're not that patient, take a picture and maybe we can help you get sorted out in your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

Whoa, that last video was very offensive. Not all Asians are jerk you know. I'm Korean btw.

Flip the situation and think about the other side. If another person makes video with driving footage and says "fucking Filipino"... you'll be offended. Just saying so next time you can think before you say something. Just say "fucking jerk". Don't care if the driver is white, black, brown or yellow. It's just for that single person.

by the way, thumbs up on the exhaust. Great sound.

troek 05-02-2013 05:38 PM

hey! not all jerks are bad drivers! im offended now being a jerk my self.

eikond 05-02-2013 07:30 PM

I ordered one of these today. $410 shipped with frontpipe.

The only design feature I don't like is how the Y pipe is mostly aimed at the pass. side exhaust pipe. So most of the exhaust will come out that side.. But at 2.75" that shouldn't be a problem.

FRSWiLLY 05-03-2013 09:10 AM

has anyone weighed this exhaust? had it for and extended period of time and noticed any signs of wear and tear? much appreciated!

zc06_kisstherain 05-03-2013 09:58 AM

wow $$ cheap.

Well the quailty doesn't seem great, and I always hated ebay parts but it does the job fine. My Car feels alive, and is super loud but has a sound that I don't know if I love. Il write up a thread and put a few videos

Cool! Please do post more thoughts and info.

My understanding is that exhaust parts typically start out loud and quiet down a little after they've built up a coating of soot on the inside of the pipes.

I've heard a few different sound clips from the J2 exhausts.. I loved all but one of them.. one of the videos it sounded too much like a lawn mower.. I guess it makes it sound more boxer.. but to me it sounded more harley.

The other clips I heard sounded great.

You just got the front pipe right? What is the rest of your exhaust system?

A buddy club spec 2 which is kind of a straight piped catback, I only got it to give it a shot and show people how it would sound. I'm going FI soon and I'm changing the J2 for sure

Do you have a video before the front pipe? I'm inclined to believe that your buddy club exhaust has a much greater impact on overall sound than this front pipe.
