would it have any effect on the cars performance?
or is it just for looks?

SUB-FT86 12-30-2011 07:20 PM

So the big spoiler and lip kit is called the Nurburgring package!!!

Nur Package looks like its the most functional package out of the lot:
- it appears to have canards molded into the front lip to generate more downforce
- judging from the height of the rear wing, it is exposed to more "clean air" thereby producing a reasonable amount of downforce

Modellista package is a pure styling package: form > function

TRD package seems like a blend between form and function:
- Just like the Nur package we see molded canards in the front lip but in a less aggressive form
- Rear diffuser may have some function but I'm thinking that it's been design more towards styling than function

Ings N Spec looks like it's addressing cooling from the front bumper
- unlike the stock 86 bumper, the middle opening of the front bumper is larger and it features openings where the foglights are (which would otherwise be blocked by the indicator and foglight in the stock bumper)
- we also see that like the LFA, there is a hood gap to assist the cooling in the engine bay, however there is no apparent outlet for the air in the form of a vented hood
- like the Nur package, the rear wing is mounted high enough to deliver some form of downforce.

well.... at least thats my take on the functionality of these kits. I could be wrong.

ttknf welcome to the forum, nice first post btw :)

sfwg 12-30-2011 07:45 PM

Hanzo 12-30-2011 08:00 PM

The drawing makes it look like Subaru BRZ.

:word:
It's more like BRZ STI than N-spec 86.

DIG1992 12-30-2011 08:23 PM

Nur Spec sound right since it was tested on the nurburgring.

WingsofWar 12-30-2011 08:38 PM

sigh....

I love that the Toyota GT-86 Nur-Spec (lol @ Nissan GT-R Nur-Spec) now has a name. That would be nice to see Toyota Nur-Spec emblem

And that that we get a teaser of INGs design study which iv been asking them for several weeks now.

Im sad that my design study is taking too long for both BRZ and 86 Renderings.

Snoopyalien24 12-30-2011 09:00 PM

I highly doubt that supercharger on the TRD now

Looks like my preffered package tho

xc 12-30-2011 09:01 PM

HELL YEAH!!!

Was getting a bit worried that we'd never see a 86 WoW kit. Good to hear it's still in the works. I'm looking forward to your design regardless of how long it takes. :)

That Nür SPEC has me moist  but if I don't see it here in the states, I may have a lot of thinking to do.

MiguelAE86 12-30-2011 10:23 PM

It's not a real kit, just a mock up from gt5. The lower lip extends too far forward and looks like a giant plate.

A giant, downforce producing plate. I'd rock one, with a bigass duck-tail spoiler to balance things out.

BioRage 12-30-2011 11:16 PM

TRD KIT FTW<3

NemesisPrime909 12-31-2011 12:08 AM

well at least the big spoiler one has a name now.

Now if only we'll get word on whether any of these will actually make it to the US

Am I reading this wrong? Isn't the TRD on the brochure based on the 86 not FRS, which would explain why it has digital hvac cluster.

Correct (most everything in Japanese) will be based on the GT86 being as SCION doesn't exist outside of the US/Canada

ahausheer 12-31-2011 01:56 AM

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but most of the kits so far don't look so great to me. They just don't seem super refined yet and look to much like an add on.

jedichimp 12-31-2011 02:23 AM

TRD looks the best so far, not really feeling the front lip/add-on yet though. Down for a quad TRD exhaust

CSOCSO 12-31-2011 02:53 AM

Nur Spec it is!!!! GIMME!!!!!!!!!!!

Levi 12-31-2011 08:09 AM

WTF? I am then getting a Subaru BRZ STI Spec N!

Exactly, and so the only US mod we have seen is from Greddy and that has the low-spec interior. My guess is that if Scion was going to offer a Hi spec interior, Greddy would have certainly wanted to use that version.
IMO - SCION WILL NOT OFFER HI-SPEC INTERIOR ON THE FRS - PERIOD.
Thoughts otherwise are just dreams....

JDLM 12-31-2011 09:53 AM

I'll say not initially for high spec it will be a "release" blah blah

Infernal 12-31-2011 02:51 PM

so, I'm looking for the "Nur Spec" bodykit it seems! - I wonder who the kit is by?

Boil 12-31-2011 05:19 PM

I like the (theoretical) improved cooling provided by the ings N-SPEC 86 design, but would rather have the duckbill of the TRD kit as opposed to the ings 'ricer wing'. But make that duckbill larger (like, maybe two times larger?), please…! As for a vented hood, the one on the Wings of War widebody edition might just do…

Slide 12-31-2011 05:20 PM

That you are from Toyotas PR...

Tell us the price!

;)

Why is that large wing "rice"? When I get my AS1 it will not have any wing/spoiler/duckbill at all. But I'll put the large wing when my AS1 get racecar conversion. I think all other wing are rice, as they are race inspired cosmetic enhancements but have no function, opposed to the big wing.

I think they already came out and said the larger spoiler serves no real down force or performance addition to the car (so it would be rice)

Who said that? I would like a reliable source.
