On Saturday I seen a white FRS at Cantoro's Italian deli/bakery in Livonia was that anyones here?

Sevs753 03-10-2013 10:40 PM

I wonder if it's the same White FRS i've seen driving up and down I-275 in livonia every so often.

On a side note, what's everyones opinion on the BRZ foglights? I'm on the fence on whether to have them installed on my premium or not.

CallmeDave 03-10-2013 10:41 PM

With today's nice weather I wanted to see how my wrx looked without a spoiler plus I figured its a good time to check for rust, also put one the gold wheels today.

My stepdad is a Subaru mechanic and he was suprised that the port installed fog lights seem poorly installed, they use vampire clips ect.

Useless!! With the factory halogen bulbs I can't even tell when they are on. Would be nice with HID's in there though.

Silver FR-S

I saw a Silver FR-S on 6 mile by Haggerty last Thursday.

Took my car out of storage on Friday, very excited to drive it again, unfortunately the rest of the weekend I was hauling stuff and people so I had to use the WRX the rest of the weekend. Hopefully after this little bit of snow we're supposed to get this week blows out I'll have it out full time.

Wow, looks great....almost making me regret my SWP.

I've only had one car I stored for the winter and I miss that feeling of getting it back on the road.

Sevs753 03-11-2013 05:53 PM

For those of you that store your car for the winter, if not in your garage, where do you store it? What are the costs like?

eikond 03-11-2013 06:03 PM

I had a co-worker with an extra garage space that she offered up to me.

Otherwise I'd have gone with a storage unit for $50 to $60 a month.

@David-Fermani is who did all of ours. He posted above ^. Just send him a pm.

Congrats on the new car!

MI FR-S 03-12-2013 09:46 AM

Just got my car back after 3 weeks at the dealer. No idea how anyone can leave it in storage all winter. 3 weeks without it was killing me!

Unfortunately they couldn't figure out the burning smell, they failed to fix the noisy rear deck and the new window seals aren't much better than the old ones.

Mac1235 03-12-2013 10:14 AM

Just spotted an Ultramarine Subbie BRZ (I think) heading down Southfield road by 14 mile. Was this anyone? I was the white FR-S going the other direction this morning around 8:40.

Cameronghanson 03-12-2013 10:50 AM

Saw a dark gray BRZ in auburn hills going towards W M59 a few days ago..

Ok I am officially settled in Beverly Hills MI, I want to meet up with you guys soon as long as my business travel doesn't interfere. I am going to install my Grimmspeed hood struts as soon as the weather warms up a few degrees then off to Opticoat when it warms up even more. What has everyone else got going on for the spring? Anyone else ride motorcycles? I am dieing to get mine out.

Sevs753 03-13-2013 09:04 AM

I was there Sunday, the new karts are a ton of fun, after 2 stints I got down to a best of 26.60, and was running lap after lap at 26.81-26.83. Seems they are right around 2 seconds faster than the old karts.

That was on Sunday when the weather was in the high 50's low 60's so a nice cool day in the 30s or 40s should be good for another few tenths, and I still think there is time out there by making a few more adjustments to when I was rolling the throttle on.

I haven't gotten out there yet to try the new karts. it'll likely be Cars & Coffee before I try them.

I am planning on heading to JD Racing in Novi (fountain walk) tonight to try their karts. Theirs are electric but should prove fun.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I'll be there about 8pm.

Since you are so close now we should all grab a drink somewhere.

I'm game.. Beverly Hills is only 10 minutes from me in Bloomfield. Ryephile is somewhere in the Birmingham area I think as well.

BTW.. if anyone is doing the clear side marker conversion and need the amber bulbs.. I have a bunch of extras. .they wanted like $4 each at the auto parts stores.. so I got a box of 10 from amazon for $8.

Check the first page of the thread, I think it has his email. David Fermani I think has done everyone's on the forum and if I remember correctly it was 300 for paint correction and 250 for the opti coating or vice versa

I fully expect to find oil leaking from that gasket this weekend when I check.

Opticoat: $300 and $250 sound about right. Bear in mind that the paint correction is per "level" of paint correction. Some cars have horrible swirly paint that may need 2 levels of correction despite the owner's best efforts to not touch it with anything other than water :(

Hi. I am a autocross / hpde noob. I plan on doing some this year and I was wondering if standard auto insurance usually covers accidents during these things? I'm asking here in-case there is some Michigan specific laws.

As far as I know, insurance agencies do not cover track eventualities. You will need to get track insurance.

See this thread for more info about insurance on track days http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9523

Lockton seems to have track insurance on a event/event basis.

I put in $30000 as agreed value and got $210 as a per-event cost.
http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx?cID=3

Whew but hey, you pay to play right?

It's expensive but $200 is worth the peace of mind and pushing the car without worrying about balling it up and losing $27 - $28k in a single day!

I went to Kart2Kart for the first time two weeks ago to do the endro race with some coworkers. The Karts are very nice but going there completely killed my aspiring amateur racing dream. I did terrible well felt like it anyways haha I guess thinking I knew how to race from playing gran turismo made me drive worse.

CallmeDave 03-14-2013 08:51 PM

I used to have a bike last year but I sold it to get the BRZ. I miss riding but I dont want to borrow money for a bike again.
I bought my first bike early spring last year, put 1500 miles on it and sold it at the end of the season and it only cost me $300 :D

I'm thinking of selling/trading a evil black rifle for a older bike this season.

Speaking of which any gun enthusiasts here? Almost all the Subaru people I've meet are into guns or get into them after a car/range day.

Speed comes with seat time and confidence... and karts do not = cars, you do have to adjust your inputs.

Steering inputs in a kart can be much more immediate, but with significantly less magnitude than a car.

As far as an aspirations of being an amateur driver, I find a good dose of Alex Lloyd's column on Jalopnik is also a good way to keep those ambitions and daydreams in-check... driving around in parking lots and airport runways is freakin' expensive enough! :bonk:
