WedSport TC105n hub ring/center cap interest list

2 Attachment(s)
I have been approached by a member here about doing a group buy for these, they would be anodized black and would cost about the same as the caps from Wed's. I believe they are made for the 17x8 and 17x9 sizes and they are slightly different. We would need to get about 10 sets made to do them at that price so please post if interested and if so what size wheels you have. I was thinking some custom engraving would be cool with either the 86 logo or something else if we could all agree on something. That would probably put the cost in the $200 range but isn't neccessary i just thought it would make them a little more special.

Foobar 03-10-2013 10:07 AM

I'm down for some black Anodized Hubcentric Rings/Center Caps if it's around $140 which is how much I can get the Weds Center Caps locally.

Engraved logo would be cool, but not worth the extra cost, in my own opinion - could just get some stick-on plastic caps like the BMW ones made cheaper I bet, but I can see some guys interested in that.

To those wondering why you'd spend the same on these as the Weds, the Weds are *ONLY* center caps, they are not dual-purpose. In other words, you have to choose between hubcentric rings or the Weds caps, whereas these serve both purposes.

JoeBoxer 03-10-2013 10:13 AM

Agreed on the cost and people could always have their own engraved if they wanted that special touch, you could probably also find a TRD or STi sticker off ebay that might work too.

Captain Insano 03-10-2013 02:48 PM

I'm kinda interested in these if some STi logo could be stamped on or somehow placed on it. I already orderd Weds center caps for my TC105N wheels. Just FYI, price shipped for those was $145.

Seems like it's become too costly. Engraved at the same price as the weds wheels would have worked, but plain black caps just don't seem worth it to me

You are getting the hub ring included, the weds cap doesn't allow for the use of them. All opinions are welcomed though we're just trying to help out :)

Foobar 03-10-2013 04:58 PM

Joe - thanks for lending a hand on this!

I appreciate the work and sacrifice that went into this. Also thinkthe results are pretty nice. Just not for me

OrbitalEllipses 03-10-2013 11:57 PM

Wouldn't match my wheel color and a tad expensive for plain caps. I appreciate a hub ring AND center cap combo that works, but I'd have to get them powdercoated to match, etc..

Draco-REX 03-10-2013 11:58 PM

I'd be interested if they came in black.

JoeBoxer 03-11-2013 12:09 AM

Would you guys rather have them as shown in the pics if it saved some money?

How much would we be saving by having it go plain?

that_guy 03-11-2013 10:05 PM

Would you be willing to do this for us RPF1 owners by chance? Nice looking pieces BTW.

F1point4 03-11-2013 10:07 PM

You have my attencion but if its three figures i'll probably be out.

Being custom made I think they may be worthy of the price, but the money could go towards other stuff.

I appreciate you and mystery member approaching us about these.

JoeBoxer 03-12-2013 11:28 AM

@kask2_6.0
can answer any questions about them

Not at the moment. If these work out and there is enough interest then possibly. With the RPF1 being a much cheaper wheel it's less likely for people to be interested in an expensive cap.

Finally have an update for you guys. Was able to find a machine shop that quoted a much better price than previously mentioned. Price will be around $130 shipped. They will be anodized black and laser engraved with a logo. Unfortunately, it would be too expensive to do custom engraving ($40 setup fee for every design). The anodizing and laser engraving don't really change the cost as long as they are all done the same. Unfinished aluminum would only be a $15 difference. Please comment with suggestions.

When i can haz?

kask2_6.0 03-12-2013 03:51 PM

Sorry I forgot that part. Machine shop says 4-5 week lead time but he would try to squeeze it in earlier. May be possible since it's a relatively low quantity.

OrbitalEllipses 03-12-2013 03:59 PM

I prefer aluminum. Then I can just get them powdercoated to match my wheels.

kask2_6.0 03-12-2013 04:03 PM

Aluminum: 1 (OrbitalEllipses)

Black: 0

Please comment and update this number with your choice if you are interested.

OrbitalEllipses 03-12-2013 04:16 PM

Engraving: I think plain looks dumb. Do you guys want to get them engraved with the model number of the wheels, the WEDS logo (sue us, we don't care!), or some such?

kask2_6.0 03-12-2013 04:21 PM

This was the idea:
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps6579f4a1.jpg

But it is juts that.. an idea. If the general vote is against it then it won't be on there.

Foobar 03-12-2013 05:07 PM

I'd prefer black, no logo I can 3M my own logo cap over it if I choose to do so. If it has to have a logo, I'd prefer a simple WedsSport one.

King Tut 03-12-2013 05:32 PM

If they have to be engraved, then I would want WedsSports or TC105N to be engraved on the center cap. I am fine with black since my Weds lugs are black.

At $130/set, that's not expensive when you consider the RPF1 caps are over $100 now. Unique, clean fitting, and hubcentric caps would be worth the premium to many Enkei owners IMO.

While I'm not buying these, my vote would go to no logo and raw aluminum. Let people pick the paint that matches their wheels. And why brand a logo on something and have it detract from the look of the wheels?

Just my 2 cents.

Ruckus 03-13-2013 09:19 AM

Count me in. I vote for plain anodized.

kask2_6.0 03-19-2013 08:08 AM

Order has been placed with the machine shop. Should be about 4-5 weeks (I'm hoping they can fit them in much sooner). Half will be plain aluminum and the other half will be plain black anodized.

sweet put me on the list for plain aluminum!

jonnyozero3 03-20-2013 12:35 AM

anyone know if these would work for a 18x8.0 TC105N?

According to the wedssport website all 5x100 variations of the wheel have a 65mm hub bore. These should fit all wedssports for the frs/brz.

Foobar 03-20-2013 09:34 AM

Thanks Kask/Joe.

I'm down for the black anodized version. Should probably keep an official list on post 1 in case you end up short of one (or all).

King Tut 03-20-2013 05:28 PM

I should rip the carbon fiber/logo part off my WedsSport center caps and put it on these, haha. Then I will have a set of $300 center caps.

OrbitalEllipses 03-20-2013 07:06 PM

Oh what the hell. Put me down for a plain aluminum set please. Any chance you can tell me the alloy so I can talk to my coater?

They will be 6061 aluminum

Unfinished/raw, correct?

kask2_6.0 03-20-2013 08:13 PM

Yes, a few sets will be unfinished. Others will be anodized.

CircuitJerk 03-20-2013 09:30 PM

I'm in. Not sure if I want Black or unfinished. Car is silver, rims are silver..Lugs are black(ish) Kics R40.
I'm on the fence:) But I'm in! :D

Captain Insano 03-20-2013 10:33 PM

I am torn on this. I like the look of the weds caps but these would be more durable. What color cap would go best with the titan silver wheel and world rally blue BRZ? Don't think I will like silver or black.

CircuitJerk 03-20-2013 10:55 PM

I'd like to suggest a chamfer rather than a filet for the face.
I think an angular look would compliment the overall look rather than that rounded look in the original pics.

Thanks, Kask. I should have been able to look that up

Please put me down for a set of the plain aluminum. Thanks!

EDIT - please change mine to (no logo) black.
