Just wondered how many folks change the oil when the hit the big 1K?

Unnecessary.

Do it, get rid of the metal shavings. After that first one you will be safe for every 5k depending on how hard you drive

I changed it at 3k, and every 7500 after.

Did mine at around 2000.

I wanted to do mine at 1,000 miles but I'm at about 1,300 right now and haven't had the time. I'd like to get full synthetic in it ASAP though.

"Shavings", if any, would be miniscule and would make no difference to the engine whether an oil change at 500 miles or 5000 miles. Any respectable engineering test results data to prove your point with this engine would be considered but I am not aware of any.

I am almost at 1,000 but planning to do mine at 2,000~3,000

Does it not already come with synthetic?

I know many of you say its unnessasary but its better to be safe than sorry. I am one of those that changes the oil way more than nessasary throughout the life of the car. Its not expensive so why the hell not.

I do not have much respectable engineering test results to prove my point, but my eyes and fingers did. Someone also sent their oil bottle to a lab and they did detect a certain amount of iron that was in it, I cannot find it but its in here somewhere.

Maybe it is because from what I learned as a kid from my grandparents and parents who survived The Great Depression by the former and the Wall Street Crash by the latter. Yeah, I could afford a Porsche, Ferrari or a 380Z but I don't NEED them.

No idea, actually. I just assumed it came with cheap "break in oil" like a lot of cars do.

its fully synthetic... if they can give us 3 free ones after purchase im pretty sure it comes with it, and someone already did an oil test for metal composition after break and and confirmed it to be full synthetic via lab testing

Changed at 3000 miles. Just drive easy before your first oil change.

Full synthetic 0W-20 from the factory.

Always have and always will change @ less than 1000 miles, and every 2k-3k max miles after that

I've met people who devote their life to Mobil 1 products. No matter what science brings better stuff.

I paid to have mine done at 9xx miles the dealership thought I was crazy but they couldnt get my car into reverse.......

I figured for as cheap as it was its cheap insurance.

I'll do my first at 1000, next at 5,000 then every 5,000 thereafter. Just trying to decide what oil to use, thinking amsoil if it's not too bad on price.

I do, beat my last engine to death and never had a failure after 152,000 miles

bone cold engine, 20 degrees outside rev to 4k, drop the clutch, race to work

did that every day i owned the car during both winters i owned it, summer i was MUCH harder running to 9800 rpm in 115F texas weather

I dont need science to tell me that oil works, every tear down i did to inspect things... 13 year old engine looked brand new, ran like new... ive ran into the next owner, almost a year after i sold it, same engine still running strong :D

im not saying all other oils are bad, i just wouldnt use them

not only is it full synthetic, it is actually really good oil according to the lab analysis many owners have had done on the break in oil.
