>>FT-86 SpeedFactory One Lap of America Build<<
That's right everyone! FT-86 SpeedFactory will soon be coming to a race track near you! We will be competing in TireRack's One Lap of America competion this coming May and we have some car prep to be doing  What is One Lap of America, you might ask???? Well, I'll let them tell you. "Nearly twenty-four hours a day driving with competition taking place as time trials on race tracks throughout the country. The event, as it always has been, is foremost one of endurance and vehicle preparation. No support crews are allowed. The tires that are used on the street are the same ones that are raced on (one set per team). Although scoring is based on performance at the race tracks, the vehicles and their drivers must survive over 5000 miles of driving interspersed with the finest meals available at gas station convenience stores. Personal hygeine takes a holiday and friendships (sometimes marriages) are stretched to the limits as these competitors battle fatigue, weather, traffic and the demands of high-speed competition with both unknown amateurs and seasoned professional drivers like Parnelli Jones, Price Cobb, John Buffum, Elliot Forbes Robinson and Hurley Haywood." Cool! BUT I didn't see my local track on that list :(
|
Sounds like my kind of race
|
After seeing Drives coverage of it last year I really wanted to do it but It would require a lot of commitment from a stand alone civilian with no backing. Maybe next year :)
|
Im feeling that wheel/tire setup!

A little update for the car this weekend, as we get prepared for the upcoming season. We had a chance to strap the car down and get some tuning done. :party0030: After doing some pulls, sending the data in to @FA20Club.com and getting a tune back this is what we got compared to a stock car. http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/f...uelvsstock.jpg The stock dyno we did back in August was a poor sample so we overlay'd it to one that was the K&N drop in filter dyno. http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/frs-borla.jpg As you can see the torque dip is significantly reduced and almost flat now. FA20Club mentioned that had we been able to get 93 octane fuel in the car we would have seen more gains, but 91 is all we get here in Des Moines, so it had to do. I'm excited and happy with the new torque curve, especially with autocross and track season almost here for us in Iowa. Man, you guys should get a flex fuel kit installed and tuned up on that thing, so you can hit E-85 when it's there, and 93, then 91 when it's not. At least that way you know when you get out of crappy gas town into an area with 93 or better, you can fuel it up and get that little boost.

Gonna try and get out May 10th @ Pittsburgh International Race Complex, to support you guys. Its a smaller track but plenty of fun. I used to work there if you need any Pointers. |
Seems like it's almost kind of a bullrun-type competition
|
I'll be at Virginia International raceway!

http://www.onelapofamerica.com/history/AboutOneLap.do I had the pleasure of meeting Brock and his son. He is quite a character with plenty of amzing car stories to tell. |
Best of luck in this series. Mod list looks awesome.
|
nice track build!! I love the wheels set up!
|
I will see you guys at Daytona! My Co Worker and one of our customer's will be racing a silver GTR.
I'll be rooting for the FR-S on the inside. |
Thank you for the support guys. We look forward to meeting a lot of other FR-S/BRZ owners while we tour the eastern part of the country. Really looking forward to this even, getting down to the wire and so much to do still. YIKES!
|
Jeremy,
Best of luck. My offer still stands if you are interested. Earl |
Car looks great especially with that wheel package. Glad to see DSM representing! Do you guys have a shop that's open to check out? Also is that dyno from the video yours here in town or was that somewhere else?

Dyno is here in town that we use. |
Looks fantastic.
How much clearance is there between the front wheel and the AP caliper? No spacers required with +35 offset 9" RPF1? |
Quote:
Using a spark plug gap and feeler tool to measure clearance. This was measured at the point where the spoke of the wheel had the least clearance. No spacer required :) http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/apinstalled-3.JPG http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/apinstalled-4.JPG Clearance for the AP Sprint kit with this particular wheel was measured at 2.45mm http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/apinstalled-5.JPG http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/apinstalled-6.JPG http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/apinstalled-9.JPG http://ft86speedfactory.com/images/apinstalled-10.JPG Pulled from our there here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=27300&page=2 |
Ah fantastic, thanks for that. Looks like 17x9 +35 RPF1 is the perfect match for these cars :D
|
MFactory stepped up and is helping us out with the Final Drive. Look forward to getting that in this week and testing next Friday. Stay tuned, 1 week until our first test session.
|
On Standard Suspension R3, while Fortune upgrades the coilovers to the 2-way adjustable ones. We got it lowered a bit more than it should be, but it looks good. :)

Got the MFactory 4.67 Final Gear in today. WOW, did it change the car.
We'll have video this weekend as we're headed to MAM for testing. Some good side by side vs our Red FR-S which is stock final gear. |
