TouchMyHonda 09-18-2012 12:05 PM

omg

madfast 09-18-2012 12:49 PM

i dont care how fast it is, that thing is hideous.

midenginebias 09-18-2012 12:58 PM

Reminds me of the Tommy Kaira cars combined.

Question is, how will it feel to drive considering their usual focus is driving dynamics through technology?

Texas BRZ 09-18-2012 01:55 PM

Looks outstanding and fair, but the rear appearance is a bit goofy.

Love the color though... Saw a MP4-12C at one of my my track events in the same color... Looked superb.

mechaghost 09-18-2012 02:15 PM

reminds me of a nike shoe from the back. I like it though

AJUSA.com 09-18-2012 03:24 PM

Hmm. Not sold on the aggressive design, although it is fitting for the brand.

My last Mclaren experience.

serialk11r 09-18-2012 03:28 PM

That black front bumper piece looks completely out of place on an orange car. All those random looking creases along the side aren't really speaking to me either...

ZetaVI 09-18-2012 05:09 PM

I'm not sure how I feel about how it looks.

jstans84 09-18-2012 11:47 PM

I'd fuck it...err...drive it...probably both.

KAR 09-19-2012 12:25 AM

If it's like the F1 where the driver is center seated.... Yes please.. Or whatever, still a yes please

ahausheer 09-19-2012 12:36 AM

Looks retarded, name is retarded, go figure. Pee1? Are you serious? That's not a name its a code, wheres the passion in that?

Dimman 09-19-2012 01:01 AM

It's like an F1 on acid.

But I kinda like it.

CSSM 09-19-2012 01:16 AM

It looks too much like the MP4-12C, especially from the side. It's like it has the extreme looks of a high end supercar, yet it doesn't.

But that lighting it is in is terrible, I need to see it in better lighting before I make an opinion on it.

bestwheelbase 09-19-2012 01:41 AM

This will get interesting.

One day I want to visit the Paris show, not because I'm in the market for any of the badass stuff that gets unveiled, but simply to be there and say "I saw it."

RacelineUSA_Matt 09-19-2012 01:54 AM

Hopefully the production version will look a bit less crazy.

KAR 09-19-2012 08:37 AM

I think P1 stands for pole 1 (pole positio #1) have you seen the top gear episode where they tested the MP4 Vs the Ferrari.. Then the stig ripped it through the track.. Only thing faster was the aerial atom.. But to achieve this, all the technology drivers aid was in place.. But the numbers kills all cars out there

Cheddar 09-19-2012 09:05 AM

You guys are out of your minds!

That thing is B-E-A-utiful!

b.e 09-19-2012 09:08 AM

Hot Lava! The new sport-car color!

Superhatch 09-19-2012 11:56 AM

It reminds me a lot of the old F1, which I loved. I'm assuming it won't have a center mounted driver seat though. :(

Jayde 09-19-2012 12:05 PM

Excuse me, I need to go change my pants...

n2oinferno 09-23-2012 12:13 AM

That front end kinda reminds me of a manta ray.

I can't imagine any toning down on the production version. If it's their new hypercar, form will follow function.

Sparkplug 09-23-2012 12:36 PM

I hope the actual car looks every bit as crazy as this concept.

zygrene 09-23-2012 01:59 PM

Is it pointless to hope it will come with a stick and three paddles?

Sadly it probably is.

Fortunately their previous model came with a proper shift lever.

TOMIMOTO 09-23-2012 05:43 PM

It reminds me of this.

It is beautiful though. I love it.

yup, reminds me of the Garaiya mixed with the Mc F1.

Not sure it's something I'd call beautiful.

Maybe 'cute' :bonk:

Grishbok 11-30-2012 04:03 AM

Ok, McLaren has some unbelievably impressive engineering behind them, and the mp4-12c is a BEAUTIFUL car, but my chief complaint with them is the technology takeover. Its like they want the computer to do EVERYTHING. And im sorry, but computers are not yet capable of processing as many inputs as the human brain. For the rich oil money kid in NYC, the computers are fine. But for someone who is trained, it just doesnt feel quite right.

serialk11r 11-30-2012 04:04 AM

Hmmm the entire rear vents engine bay air :slobber:

Still not digging the wild creases and 2 piece front bumper though.

Supermassive 11-30-2012 05:04 AM

Not feeling the orange on black...but I really dig it with the black/white camo ;)

I am sure it will be every bit as impressive as it's most assuredly million dollar price tag will ensure, but as far as being a sexy car...sorry it's not. There are zero million dollar cars that i think are attractive as an entire car. The Veyron is butt ugly, the Venom GT, looks like a stretched lotus, this Mclaren is just too busy looking, even the old Enzo was not very attractive. people who buy these cars are buying exclusivity and performance, not necessarily looks. The Pagani Huayra is gorgeous on the inside but I feel like it's exterior is rather bland compared to the Zonda which I love.

For me some of the most beautiful cars in the world cost more than I can afford but far less than these ultra cars. I still think the Ferrari 599 and Aston Martin DB9 are my favorites, love the front engine rwd layouts because of the long noses that reflect to cars like the old Jag XKE or Ferrari 250 GTO (considered the most beautiful car in the world by most car enthusiasts).

Would I turn it down if someone gave it to me? Hell no but if I had a million dollars to burn I'd buy something else.

I don't like the typical long nose obsession, but the cars you mention are absolutely gorgeous.

The midengine layout with short nose long tail gives the best potential for aerodynamics, and in my eyes it's more beautiful. I think the MP4-12C is really good looking. The new NSX concept looks really good except the stupid mini chrome beak thing and the lights (I think they're a bit too low).

Supermassive 11-30-2012 06:28 AM

The mid engine layout does lend itself to aerodynamics...but I was talking about cars that are just proportionally sexy. The damn Prius is aerodynamic as hell but looks like a squashed minivan. A car has to appeal to all my senses for me to truly crave them, my favorite mid engined cars as far as looks is concerned are also Ferrari's the F430 Spyder and the 458 Italia, Italians truly make the sexiest cars...

The Lexus LS460 has the same drag coefficient as the Prius, the Mercedes E class has lower drag coefficient than the Prius. The Prius is actually somewhat poorly executed in terms of aerodynamics IMO. Well, they did compromise to increase storage volume I suppose. I wouldn't be surprised if the MP4-12C had a true drag coefficient around the Prius (the 0.33 or whatever number you can find on the internet smells like bullshit to me, no credible sources to back it up).

But yes, F430 and 458 Italia are gorgeous too. I actually like the F430 a little better. If it had some more crazy lines along the side (say a little crease or something going into the upper scoops) I would dream of owning one someday.

I figure the F430 will come down to the average prices of the old 360's in 4-5 years which is between $70-90k which will be in the realm of actual ownership for me...I will own a Ferrari one day, it might not be new but I feel that most Ferrari's are timeless, so a used 430 spider would definitely be worth the wait!

Good call. Zonda too.

A lot of the current day supercars are simply trying too hard. They're catering to the blockbuster special effects crowd. Some of us still enjoy the subtleties of character development and plot twists.
