PROJECT ROCKETBUNNY BRZ build thread

So today my widebody kit arrived via freight at my house. Trunk pulled up and we pulled the box out.

Box it came in:

Opening the box:

The pieces laid out:

The front lip:

Fender piece:

It's hard to see from the pics I got of be front lip but it only needs to be sanded down for it to fit to the BRZ bumper. It can be bolted under very easily. Just some simple trimming. Same goes for the fender piece. Just needs to be trimmed to fit the lines of the BRZ bumper and this kit will be looking amazing. It's going into the shop next Monday or late this week to get started. Will update when either the wheels come or the cutting and fitting begins.

Here you go. Have Bridgestone Potenza RE701 on em. Make the BRZ handle like a go-kart.

xDBOYx 03-04-2013 10:43 PM

Boy this is going to be great. Can't wait to see progress

Actually I've been wanting to get rid of them. The nice thing is that you can easily powder coat them any color you want. I was thinking about coating hem gold (like the Rotas in the background)

DIM 03-04-2013 11:21 PM

This is gonna be awesome, can't wait to see progress.

DarkCard 03-05-2013 12:16 AM

Good luck cant wait to see the results!

6-Shift 03-05-2013 12:19 AM

Oh hell yes.

VesperLynn 03-05-2013 01:12 AM

Ill put the wing together tomorrow and try and mount it on the other carbon trunk I have (meant so I can swap trunks instead of having a trunk with holes when I take the wing off), but just going to say: IT'S MASSIVE.

Bmore_Raven86 03-05-2013 01:37 AM

have fun! i hope the fittings in the front bumper will workout..

VesperLynn 03-05-2013 03:13 PM

UPDATE: car goes in tomorrow to start body work.

VoiD 03-05-2013 03:24 PM

subscribed!

Kuzuri 03-05-2013 04:02 PM

subscribed. Was just talking to my friend yesterday about what the RB kit would look like on a BR-Z. I kind of want the subaru front bumper for my FR-S, so I hope this looks good! :)

VesperLynn 03-05-2013 05:08 PM

Trimmed out the lip. Did the right side near perfect, messed up the left though. Going to fill it and sand it down.

Also realize that it doesn't look too good at the moment because its only being held up by oil jugs. Lol

Outlawstar98 03-05-2013 08:02 PM

Cant wait to see this thing finished! I am going to be doing the same thing eventually :P

Nico TURBO 03-05-2013 08:09 PM

Just....no. This is a silly question. It weighs more. A few pounds more. Probably less than the total added weight that will be added in go fast and cosmetic bits ( suspension alignment parts and wider rims and rubber. . Etc)

It weighs X (factory's number, available everywhere if you try) + Y (mmm let's say 25 lbs in extra plastic) = BRZRB weight before extra stuff S. so total weight = X+Y+S

powerj2 03-05-2013 09:28 PM

weooo sub'd for progresss

ozne99 03-05-2013 10:23 PM

Nice, been waiting for someone yo do this. It's even more awesome that you're doing it with a GBS.

VesperLynn 03-06-2013 06:55 PM

So I had absolutely no idea, but I live an hours drive from Perrin performance headquarters. Gettin a tune!

VesperLynn 03-06-2013 08:41 PM

Here's the front tire I'm going to be using:

And here's the gap between the fender from stock:

Lol what ? Weight is a silly question ? What's so silly about it ? It's good to know what the weight of the car will be, before and after ! That means he will need to make up that much more power to get back to where he was.

VesperLynn 03-06-2013 10:06 PM

Well I just got the Perrin tune which added about 11 HP across the board. Getting a catless front pipe at the end of the week.

Cool thing about the Perrin tune is all the cool features like Launch control, Auto blip down shift, and Flat foot shifting.

SkAsphalt 03-07-2013 09:37 AM

An all season tire for your fronts? what will you use in the back?

VesperLynn 03-07-2013 11:07 AM

It's the same tire for the rear, just wider. I'll go to a t1 sport next but just trying out different tires for performance to see how each handles.

staycrushing 03-07-2013 05:11 PM

you are going to have issues with the rotating diameter in the front with a tire that big. be prepared to chop front bumper up, extension piece, inner part of fender cutaway and also grinding down the frame rail. i would step down to a 255/30/19 if you want to run that width. im running a 235/35/19 and still have issues with rotating diameter.

raphy 03-07-2013 05:28 PM

subbed :)

Yeah we're going to be working on it. Just waiting for the forgestar wheels to come in... It's be a really long process. Ordered them December 1st. Were told they would arrive January 20th. Was told they were done. Then told they weren't. They're *supposedly* supposed to be here next week and I most certainly hope so.

Anyways, They've started the body work. Checked in today and it's mostly just seeing how it's all going to fit on. They took the bumpers off and are measuring where to cut.

Also, as for personal preference, I've decided against using the front lip and side skirts. I don't like them. The lip is okay, but to me the side skirts look like a tacked on after thought. Going to go with either STI or seibon TA style skirts. Same with the lip. Either STI or TA style.

VesperLynn 03-07-2013 09:26 PM

Also I sent you an email a few days ago and never got anything back, if you could PM that would be great.

staycrushing 03-08-2013 05:56 PM

i never got email... send to my personal... rakochis@gmail.com

i got access to something you are going to most likely need... i for sure need it. ill also "teach you" how to drive the car the best i can via email.

zenki_levin 03-08-2013 07:03 PM

RB kit, can't wait to see it painted. Subbed!

ozne99 03-08-2013 09:32 PM

That's just lovely.

VesperLynn 03-08-2013 10:26 PM

On the front bumper fender pieces they look a little rough but the guy is going to sand them and make them have the same nice edge as the rest. I know it's not meant for it, but I don't think it's too shabby.

VesperLynn 03-08-2013 10:45 PM

I'm thinking the fake BRZ "fuel door" (sticker) might look REALLY good on here.... Hmmm
