OEM armrest unboxing/review

Jpit - you da man! Too bad you got banned for that, but kudos on the hardwork and effort. You're a real trooper in the community.

I got home and had the armrest waiting for me! Now, a this moment is is too cold to install, but I will update with more installed pics tomorrow afternoon.

Amazing packaging on jpit's part. A+++

Notes: the nylon inserts have a brass insert for the torx screws. Very nice - I didn't expect this much.

The armrest itself does not have as much padding as expected. Still comfortable.

The stitching is the exact color of my cars stitching. I've seen concerns about this, and my unit is a perfect match.

Edit: it HAS to be torn apart to install. The padding does not allow it to open enough to screw I the two bolts on the passenger side

Will be updated with install pics soon!

Nice! How much did it cost and how long did it take?

greighn 03-04-2013 07:58 PM

I also received my armrest today thanks to Jpit. It is excellent quality and obviously a genuine Toyota part. As soon as it gets a little warmer, I will be installing it.

Thanks, Jpit!!!.

-Gary.

Everyone do me a favor and PM a mod, I pm'd Guff, and tell them that it's stupid Jpit was banned. He never even got a warning, he was just trying to help us all out. He's very disappointed that he helped us and got banned for it. So PM a mod and tell them to reinstate him. We would have not gotten all of these if it wasn't for him.

On a side note, I'm so excited to install mine!

Burrcold 03-04-2013 08:37 PM

Didn't it cost this dude money to do this?? Pretty shitty that he got banned.

Yea it did. And they didn't even tell him to stop before he got banned. It'd be one thing if he was shady about it and cheated us out of money. But a lot of us already got the armrest and he was great to work with.

microbionic 03-04-2013 08:56 PM

So far UK and Europe only. They are slightly different between left-hand and right-hand drive models.

Huehuecoyotl 03-04-2013 09:33 PM

And risk breaking a $180 part with very limited availability whose instructions show you graphically not to man handle the thing? Fuck that - i recommend anyone with 5 spare minutes to take off the caps and take out the screws.

husker741 03-04-2013 09:51 PM

Anyone aiming to help Jpit get reinstated, please PM Hachiroku. That is who Guff directed me to. Please help a fellow FR-S owner out as he set all this up and got wrongly banned.

Turbowned 03-04-2013 10:04 PM

MOAR PICS! plz and thx

I'd PM Hachi but he banned me for a while, too. :scared0016:

Never got my PM box back. Or my signature.

sid325 03-04-2013 10:08 PM

I just PM'd Hachiroku in support of jpit. If you guys don't see me around I probably got banned too...

The instructions would have told you to take it apart if it was needed, it really didnt take much with the right tool. the hardest part is lining up all those damn holes.... and being so careful not to scratch anything else in the car.

Adeets 03-05-2013 09:45 AM

Anyone know of a way to get in contact with jpit?

Alabang 86 03-05-2013 09:53 AM

I want that bad boy...sent to JPM to match the rest of my order :)

ExWhyZer0 03-05-2013 10:32 AM

Group buy without being a sponsor

matchamochi 03-06-2013 03:44 AM

For the people that have this - maybe I'll just bug 86frs in person since I've seen him on the road 2x now...but is it annoying to keep the arm rest open for drinks?

That's the only reason I'm on the fence between the carsmo and the oem one.

No its perfect,... I don't use it for drinks,... I removed the cup holder from the center,... its for storage .. there is a cup holder on your door if you are concerned with drinking and driving..

literally this material is OEM quality, it fits right in as if it was never missing... I was on the fence to, but after getting it,.. there is no other option,... in my opinion ...

Beyer Subaru 03-06-2013 12:04 PM

Can we get a good pic to show the contrast of colors between the armrest and the interior?

microbionic 03-06-2013 12:12 PM

I can if no one else does by this evening,

it is for all intents and purposes a perfect enough match to the factory style. .. my humble opinion

Ericc B 03-06-2013 05:17 PM

Saw it today at the showroom cars at my dealers (Netherlands). Looked very neat, except maybe for the metal colored screws, would prefer black ones myself. Sorry for the crummy phone pix.

Thanks for the close-ups! That's exactly what I was waiting for! I saw some photos before where the lower rim of the armrest color doesn't seems to match before, it looks like that is NOT the case.

I guess I'm too late to jump back into the GB???
