I'm always down to have a meet in palm desert... I live in PD. do you anybody else that has an frs or brz in the valley? What days and times are you available?

that_one_guy 03-04-2013 12:51 PM

It would be cool to get a lunch meet in Palm Desert then some of us in the LA area can do a palms to pines rally in the morning to meet you up for lunch.

I'd wanna leave in the morning so the road is clear and we can get another daylight run on the way home. Saturday or Sunday would be best unless there is a holiday coming up where everyone has work off. I just don't know if the roads will be snowy/icy now or what the conditions are.

I'll set something up for a Sunday. It's been warm these past few days so I dont think you'll get snow/icy roads unless it rains again. I believe the next holiday most of us will have will be on Memorial day but I'm pretty sure theirs gonna be meets in LA area on that day.

We got one!! Anymore takers lol Maybe you'll be able to Meet the guys from LA for the Palms to Pines rally

that_one_guy 03-04-2013 02:00 PM

I'm in for the 31st. We could meet in Moreno Valley just off the 215 where there are Starbucks/McD's to wake everyone up and gas stations to wake your car up then we can head south to the 74. I thought it might be good to meet at the 74/215 junction to make it easier for people from Temecula/San Diego to meet us LA ppl but if I remember there isn't anywhere to meet at in that area so SD people may just need to meet in Moreno Valley or get their own caravan going?

Im willing to drive down to meet you guys too... Yea that McD's / Starbucks is off Day Street. Theirs also the Jacky's Donut Hut a mile or two past 74/215 exit. We can meet up at McD's or Starbucks for LA and IE people. Then cruise by the Donut shop for the SD people?

That will be nice too! As long as we can all agree on times, meeting location and what route we will take, I'll start the new thread with the information on it.

here is a video of the road from a bikers point of view. Pine to palms is a very fun road and not congested with traffic

It's final for the LA and Riverside people we will meet at the Starbucks off Day Street/60FWY . We will then cruise up 243 and then come down Hwy 74 in Palm Desert. Photo Shoot In Vista Point before coming down to Palm Desert. Hwy 243 is fun and a lot less traffic like you said also compared to the 215/74 route. For those coming from SD they can meet us at Lake Hemet Market... We will also do a Photo Shoot at the Windmills.

DesertFrs 03-05-2013 12:02 AM

What time do you think will be best to meet up in the morning?

juliog 03-05-2013 12:12 AM

Hwy 243 and photoshoots? Sounds like fun. Might join this one :D

The following Facebook link has information and is a rough draft im trying to expand it and get more ideas from the members on FT86 that would like to come... I will be posting further information in an hour or so
https://www.facebook.com/events/166398136844513/

DesertFrs 03-05-2013 12:52 AM

Here is a little something Let me know if you guys want to add or edit... Times are yet to be finalized!

This is the first Pines to Palms cruise for the FT86 Club. For those coming from LA, OC, Riverside, Corona, I.E., and the Desert end we will be meeting at the Starbucks at the address off Day street. We will then be able to gas up across the street before we commence on the cruise. For those coming from SD we will meet you guys at Lake Hemet Market located at 56571 California 74 Mountain Center, CA 92561 at 9 AM. From here we will cruise down Hwy 74 down to Vista Point where we will have the first photo shoot session. From here we will continue down Hwy 74 where we will come across Hwy 111. We will drive to La Quinta to have brunch at Louise's Pantry.. We will then talk the talk and of course more photos for an hour or two. Once we are done here if everyone is up for it, we will drive back to Palm Desert and cruise the famous El Paseo were we will find high end vehicles (hopefully). Hopefully by this time we will be able to get enough sunlight to go down the Windmills on the I-10 for the final photo shoot right before we head back home... All this will be recorded on a go pro camera. I will be taking the photos and editing them and sending them out to those that attended along with posting them on Ft86 Club forum. We will be getting closer in forming the SoCal 86 Club... Hope to see all you guys their..

Rules:
No Burning Out
Revving
and of course no racing
Respect the Law

This is mainly an FRS/BRZ cruise with some exceptions

Lol :( I guess we are gonna stay with March 31st...

that_one_guy 03-05-2013 01:22 PM

Cut the poll, April 7th is the day we do this. March 31 is Easter, April 13/14 is drift, April 7th falls right after Torrance meet so we can recruit more attendees.

It has been decided, April 7th is Socal 86 official Pines to Palms/ Palm dessert drive:party0030:

alex88 03-05-2013 01:22 PM

I'm more down for April 7th... march 31st weekend is usually a big camping weekend lol

alex88 03-05-2013 01:23 PM

A bit off topic but if anyone want to come out to Adam's track tonight, I'll be there 5 30 to 8 or so...its $20/hr and you get to do about 9 or so laps....small but tons of fun if you haven't had much track experience :burnrubber:

DAMotorsports 03-05-2013 02:13 PM

Just a side note about the run, someone might want to do a scouting run as there may still be snow/ice in some of the area so there is a lay out route. The guys coming from the Hemet side might be fine but if you are going to is the 243 from banning there might problems in the idiwaly area.

When and where is the Torrance meet?

It would be best to scout it a bit further out then a day in case there is a problem then there will be time to adjust the plans

eklectic8 03-08-2013 02:42 PM

I'm down for April 7th. Would love the run with pics! You may wanna change the date on the FB page. Still says March 31st.

DAMotorsports 03-08-2013 03:19 PM

For now we will use the info on the page for any updates. I was wondering what people might want to eat. A fast food place like (in &out ,farmer brothers, Burger King) or something seat down (island, Buffalo Wild Wings, Mexican (several places).
