Great start to the project, glad we can be a part of it! That overpipe looks gorgeous ceramic coated black.

Looking good so far. What part of Tennessee you in?

I agree, I love that overpipe with the coating. Not that you will really see it on the car, but looks great regardless! :)

Keep up the good work FastLane1000, can't wait to see it when you get the struts and springs on!

Thanks,
Rick

Looks awesome. Can you get some different angle pics of your car, I'm interested in the Stillen rear spoiler too.

I heard of one that came and went but was on a Saturday. I work Saturdays being in the car business. When is it? I need tires before doing much up there. The rear end just wants to come around. Mine has the Bridgestones. I know the rode well though after riding bikes up there for years.

I ordered the same Performance parts you did. Motiv OP, FP, Works filter.

Did you feel a good difference?

Yes i was surprised that the difference was so noticeable. Flat spot is gone in the upper rpms. Very happy. can't wait for my tune to arrive.

That spoiler is SICK! I don't think will never put a spoiler on my car, but the simplicity of this one has me thinking again....

FastLane1000 03-05-2013 06:44 PM

Well I went ahead and ordered the Koni shocks from tire rack for $642 shipped. With the H&R Springs and Whiteline camber bolts I'll have about $900 shipped in my suspension. The goal is superior handling and ride quality to any coilovers that are close in price. Works filter arrived today so I installed it. Can't tell a difference so far in power but should help a little when I get the FA20Club tune flashed.

FastLane1000 03-14-2013 11:56 AM

Got my Konis and springs installed. still need some pics after the drop (only .85")

Got my wheels and tires on.

Sorry for the low quality pics. Really happy with my wheels and tires. Motegi Sp10 Hyper Black 18x8 +40 and Dunlop Direzza DZ101 225/40/18. Edit: Junk tires were sent back to tirerack and replaced with Michelin Pilot SuperSport.

love the headlights ... looks great.

RehabJeff86 04-01-2013 03:55 AM

Love those wheels!!

toysub 04-10-2013 10:13 PM

Nice setup. How does it handle vs stock?

FastLane1000 04-11-2013 12:05 PM

The handling is improved over stock. The ride is a little harsher due to lowering and larger wheels with less sidewall but I'm very happy with the setup. The car feels more balanced with more neutral steering. It would tend to oversteer before. I think a little negative camber in the front helped alot. I'm more confident going into a corner at highspeed now. Before I had the rear step out a couple times. The grip is greatly improved so I either need to tighten up the Konis a little more or add some larger anti-sway bars.

EDIT: Ride lost all the harshness when Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires were swapped for the junk Dunlop Direzza DZ101

L3P47 04-11-2013 12:11 PM

Good looking wheels man.

ap5512 04-16-2013 04:49 PM

Hey the car looks amazing...quick question regarding the wheel/tires...what did you do about the TPMS sensors? I know tire rack sells them but they are around $240...did you re-use the stock ones or running without any sensors? Thanks.

Thanks, I had the stock ones removed and installed in the new wheels and tires.

Did you notice any change in acceleration with the slightly larger diameter, wider tires?

FastLane1000 04-22-2013 10:00 PM

No, no difference in power or acceleration that I can feel.

rmz290 04-22-2013 10:08 PM

Good to hear. I picked up a set of 18x8 superleggara's with worn out 235/40 starspecs mounted and they really hurt the acceleration of the car. Only 41.5 pounds on the scale but .7" bigger in OD over stock. Handling and feel was night and day. I've been trying to decide what size to replace them with and 225/40 is where I'm leaning or other option of 245/35's.

FastLane1000 05-02-2013 07:57 PM

Quick update. After spending some more time at highway speeds I had a vibration with the Dunlop Direzza DZ101. Tirerack allowed me to swap them for the Michelin Pilot Super Sports (payed the $ difference) and the difference is night and day. Not only is my vibration gone but the car rides so smooth over bumps. Its like I haven't lost any ride quality with the lowering and larger wheels with lower profile tires. I also lost a pound with each tire from the Dunlops, I can rotate these side to side, and they are stickier. Kudos to tire Tirerack and Michelin.

FastLane1000 06-03-2013 03:32 PM

Just a quick update with some pics from the dragon. I've added the clear side markers, Perrin crank pulley and awaiting Valenti taillights and FA20Club catted and coated EL header. The Michelin's made a night and day difference at the dragon. The tail does not come out anymore and the car feels much more balanced because of it. Now its time for some larger anti-sway bars. http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps22d29c8e.jpg

Creeper! Haha just kidding. There are much nicer cars on here to copy. The perrin tube is high quality. I just wanted to neatly lose the sound tube. Filter is works. Waiting on fa 20club header and Valenti rear lights now

jacobzking 06-13-2013 12:24 AM

your car is clean!

i'm thinking of doing the AEM intake, seems like the only functional intake since it doesnt reduce down to the stock tubing size anywhere on it. i'm doing the red valentis with the white bar, you?

I have the same Valenti lights on order. I think that is the way to go on a whiteout. If I were going to purchase an intake I would probably do the FA20CLUB CAI. Its cheap at $245 and probably one of the best. I also like the TRD intake as well and its probably quieter which I like. I haven't looked into the AEM but my understanding is the stock intake works quite well with a high flow filter. You have a build thread yet?

jacobzking 06-13-2013 02:55 PM

no build thread, it would be too similar to yours, lol. here's the thing with intakes... if an aftermarket intake is LARGER at the MAF mounting point, the car will NOT run correctly because it changes the velocity of air going through the MAF which causes it to read incorrectly which is the worst thing you can do. the only way to avoid this is the keep the MAK portion of the intake tubing the same size as OEM... which 9for most purposes) defeats the purpose of a larger intake. the only way to have a larger intake that is large all the way through, without bottle necking air flow at the MAF, is to tune the car around the intake.

the AEM unit actually has an electronic module that does a simple calculation and adjusts how the MAF reads the air flow. so say the AEM pipe is 20% larger, it just sends a modified signal to the MAF to correct for the 20% decrease in air pressure at the MAF. seems like the only way to go to me.

You need a tune regardless. Its the best money you can spend on the car in my opinion. You'll see noticeable improvement in throttle response and power, torque curve will be reduced, and you'll maximize your gains with your mods. Otherwise, you could be losing power.

Looks great! I like the vents and the led DRLs. How do you like them? Are they bright? What tires did you go with?
