Just a tip its easier to mask off the tires than to pull the plasti dip off the tires.

JasonCDC 02-23-2013 11:35 PM

That actually looks pretty cool

Minovsky 02-23-2013 11:42 PM

whaap 02-23-2013 11:45 PM

I'm really happy with the results. Took a while to do it.

TheGuyWithTheFireStorm 02-24-2013 12:20 AM

I wonder what this would look like on a firestorm..

Burrcold 02-24-2013 12:22 AM

Not trying to be an ass but they look a little rough around the edges.

Batman 02-24-2013 12:28 AM

I loved mine white.. but they attract the brake dust like none other! Will probably be switching for new rims soon anyways tho

EZWood 02-24-2013 12:29 AM

They are. It was just a test run to see if I wanted to powdercoat them. I wasn't going for perfection with them.

It's an excuse for upgraded pads and rotors. Some have very little dust.

Powdercoat is a process involving some form of paint and baking it. It's tougher than just paint

WillBRZ 02-24-2013 04:07 AM

Just plasti dipped mine white today as well. looks really good on GBS

Oh I know, but I'm planning on going to a big brake kit eventually, and its winter here so anytime I clean my car its dirtier than before I started.. so come summer every thing will get switched around.

And I didn't go powder coat in case I didn't like the white and wanted the stock look back.

BRAWL 02-24-2013 02:02 PM

This is good to see as I have been considering doing this for my Hot Lava 86 :)

Just a hint for the future, mask up the valve stems as well and really take your time getting all the masking right. Other than that, nice job!

Razzle 02-24-2013 03:37 PM

Thanx Ezwood. I was thinking about doing this 2 weeks ago and wondered how it would look. It looks great. :w00t:

Wow! These look way better than I imagined lol

TeamZleep 02-25-2013 12:37 AM

Well... I'm sold. All one color my wheels are going.

They look SO MUCH BETTER. :)

DuMa 02-25-2013 02:53 AM

next time mask off the tire needle as well LOL

cdo221 02-25-2013 02:58 AM

Wow looks really good! How long does plasti-dip usually last? I kinda want to do this myself (not gonna do the powder coat cuz I want something easily reversible), but also don't want to plasti-dip to start chipping after a couple months or something.

Good look

I'm seriously considering to plastidip mine now.
I'm checking also the new pearlizer from Plastidip. Have you?

At first I was gonna do white with the gold clear then just the clear on top of that. Found white plasti dip at lowes, so I went for it with just the white.

I've watched some of their videos

OjiGeorge 03-01-2013 11:39 PM

That really does look quite good!

Tt3Sheppard 03-17-2013 06:18 PM

Has anyone tried the pearlizer?

Jetlee101 05-02-2013 01:59 PM

I see you plasti-dipped the inside of the rim too....was that part hard to do? Did you do that first or did the front face of the rims first?

It's looks SO nice!

Tujin 05-06-2013 04:41 AM

I plastidipped mine white back in july/augusy and they are still holding up very well. It's pretty tough stuff if you clean the surface very well

Did mine yesterday. First time using plasti dip. Didn't come out perfect, but it isn't too bad.

Tip: Careful with the lug nuts!

OP do you have any pictures from further away from the car, and thanks in advance I've been wanting to do this but waiting for someone else to take the plunge!

USN.Spence 09-27-2014 09:34 PM

Doing this tomorrow, picked up my dip earlier.

incubus1995 09-27-2014 10:52 PM

i just plasti dip mine black on my hot lava but phone died, will post pics tomorrow

USN.Spence 09-28-2014 02:26 AM

I just finished mine now, I used 4 cans, and 100 note cards. I will be posting photos in a bit, waiting for them to dry to put on my car. Roughly 3 hours in paint time. Quite satisfied with them, 2 feet away you can't tell they're dipped. Average person probably wouldn't be able to tell at all.
