Would love to see what's going on inside that giant manifold! Looks like a twin screw SC. Are those plugs on either side for a liquid to air charge cooler? Also interesting that they deleted the AC Compressor and went outward from the main belt with a secondary drive belt devoted to the SC pulley.

Thanks for the pic.

This kit is probably going to be really, REALLY expensive.

EDIT - Had to...

It supposedly has Eaton TVS Rotor Technology with a dual intercooler system.

Huehuecoyotl 02-21-2013 03:40 PM

looks like a huge casting-cool!

ahausheer 02-21-2013 03:50 PM

Wonder if D-4S is maintained.

Can you harass your buddy for more inside info? :)

Bump and subbed.

Ahernandez0909 02-21-2013 03:53 PM

Shit looks like it weights 1000lbs haha

cool! I know a few people have been waiting for a TVS for our car.

evo4g63 02-21-2013 03:56 PM

That thing is hideous

FRSFirestorm 02-21-2013 03:56 PM

Love me some Eaton TVS.

Beyer Subaru 02-21-2013 03:57 PM

That is an insane looking piece. It's huge! Looks to have the blower, bypass, intercooler and intake runners all in one casting? Crazy. I'd be weirdly impressed if it actually came to market as this aluminum behemoth.

whitefrs 02-21-2013 03:59 PM

Thing is sexy.
I saw it on FB couple minutes ago.

Ryephile 02-21-2013 04:22 PM

It's curious to see the A/C is missing and an idler pulley is in its place.

I would be sorely disappointed if TRD thought it was a good idea to delete the A/C in the production kit.

Sco2355 02-21-2013 04:22 PM

Nice find! Want to see more!

I believe I see the A/C compressor in the pic. Bottom right.

I 100% guarantee that the D-4S fuel system is maintained.

diss7 02-21-2013 04:33 PM

I'll be the first to comment that this thing looks bloody awful!

Edit...

That's the water pump.

Okay, I need to wrench a bit more on boxer engine :) and I agree. Not a viable option with an A/C delete.

I'm sure that's a just a prototype manifold so it will look like crap.
I believe designers will do their job once engineering has been finished.

i like how it uses the factory intake box.
that pully seems pretty small, not much room for improvement?

DIM 02-21-2013 05:36 PM

Damn that looks good. Post up the link to this!

sevi21 02-21-2013 05:43 PM

Looking good, Probably going to be like 10k or more haha

usptwins 02-21-2013 05:45 PM

Im sure the pully is going to change position and the A/C will be replaced and kept. And im sure that this thing will shrink in size also. They need to just get the placement and position set up.

Yep not surprised at all :bellyroll:

supramkivtt2jz 02-21-2013 05:50 PM

Eh... Thats ugly....

I was hoping to see something like their other superchargers. They have a habit of making roots type chargers look sexy

Yeah look at the BBK, iirc wasn't it $11k?

Realistically looking, if this is made by TRD JP, don't expect to come out in US

True that. Im sure somebody with more money than sense will make it happen lol

ChristosG 02-21-2013 05:53 PM

I assumed it was TRD USA making this since it was always advertised for the Scion FR-S, not the 86.

If you didn't read the article bout Ken Stout Racing World Challenge FR-S, they went to TRD JAPAN requesting for SC kit & not TRD USA.

Synack 02-21-2013 05:57 PM

Looks pretty OEMish. TVS ain't bad.

SixSpeed 02-21-2013 06:05 PM

Not what I had in mind, but I love the front intake opening

ahausheer 02-21-2013 06:15 PM

Mods - thread merge? There are two threads on this.

RedLeader 02-21-2013 06:19 PM

Did no one think this might be a picture of a test version for the racecar, which would have no A/C as its not needed/used on a racecar? I recall the SEMA word being TRD wanted to race the FRS in some series and had to release the SC kit to the public so the racecar could be FI.

swift996 02-21-2013 06:22 PM

I like the design (it's a little large but it works). The throttle body in the front will improve airflow relative to the Innovative/Sprintex configuration. Thanks for sharing, excited to see the development. With it being TRD, I wouldn't expect a ton of power.

Reason why this thing is missing AC is cuz it's for Ken Stout Racing World Challenge FR-S & not for production ver. That SC is one & only kit (so far).

I know, it's just all these supercharger setups look awkward. I liked the HKS one when the prototype debuted, but the final product was ehh...

I like the front opening of this because you can use a stock or aftermarket air box with little to no modification.
