Pedal Recommendation?

Can anyone recommend a pedal kit? I've seen the SRP offering. Just wondering if anyone can help recommend something. Heel-and-toe is difficult with the OEM set-up.

Too bad they killed that preproduction pedal.. that made it look a lot easier. It's still easy compared to my other track car with it's bent pedal box :(

I'd like to see a nice replacement that actually replaces the stock pedal instead of bing stuck/screwed on, not sure if the OEM pedals are easily removed or not.. probably not.

I have the SRP gas pedal and like it a lot. Much easier to roll my foot to blip the throttle.

ATL BRZ 02-18-2013 11:36 AM

I'm planning on getting the SRP gas pedal if nothing better comes along soon.

swift996 02-18-2013 11:43 AM

I've been spoiled with my 911 and M3...the first time I shifted my foot over in the BRZ, I thought...where the heck is the gas pedal? I have a narrow foot too.

SRP seems like the best way to go right now. I really like mine - pedal placement not quite as good as a stock ITR, but almost. Adjusting the height of brake and clutch pedals helps too.
It attaches with two screws, which worried me a little at first. Seems solid, though. I don't think it's going to fall off anytime soon.

I got the cusco unit:

http://www.enjukuracing.com/products...9-12%252b.html

It hasn't arrived yet so I can't say much about it. I got this one for a few reasons:

1. It goes over the stick pedal. This means I don't have to modify anything AND it will bring the gas pedal closer to the level of the brake.
2. I don't see any issues with the stock brake, clutch, or dead pedal so I have no need to replace any of them. Just wanted the gas pedal...

Looks nice. I will let you all know when it comes in.

Another option:

Razo makes an accelerator pedal with an adjustable heel plate. The APM Racing FR-S that ran the 25 hour endurance race at Thunderhill had one installed. The RAZO pedal is adjustable, but it must be fairly robust (once set), to handle 25 hours of non-stop abuse, by multiple drivers...

Definitely debating between the SRP or Cusco pedal myself right now, leaning towards Cusco just because its Cusco lol

I still want moto to get trd to make those preproduction pedals as a trd part. @Moto-P got one as a gift and it looks awesome

The stock pedal is a plastic piece with complex contours. Been a while, but if I remember correctly, when I had the pedal assembly out for installing the SRP pedal, it seems to be slid onto the shaft with a set-screw/roll pin holding it in place.

I really do like the SRP pedal though....when firm on the brake pedal the outside of my foot is over the accelerator pedal and sole of my foot just barely touching it. Rock foot just slightly into the accelerator pedal to blip it. Feels perfect with the Adidas wresting shoes I wear for driving and I've had no issues with dress shoes. It's as solid in feel now as it was when initially installed some 6 months ago.

So that's just the SRP accelerator pedal? Can you snap a pic from the angle showing how it sits relative to the other pedals in position (from the side profile)? It looks suffice for what I need.

FasterpromsFRS 02-19-2013 01:20 AM

i took the stock pedal off and added washers to give it a raise, and removed the metal cylinders under the pedal to allow it to slide left ever so slightly. I went from having a real hard time learning it, to now getting it fairly easy, for free. Pedal hasnt fallen off yet heh.

n8dog11914 02-19-2013 08:36 PM

I actually bought the car that PedalPusher (site sponsor for SRP) owned up in North Carolina. My car is the one on the site with the black pedals. Let know if you would like some additional pictures or anything like that.

Thanks,

Doubt I could get a good shot in that cramped space... Put it this way, when you are one the brakes firmly the pedal surface is the same distance from the firewall as the accelerator pedal. If you press REALLLY hard the brake pedal will be a little closer to the firewall than the accelerator pedal. The pedal itself is 1/8" thick.

I have fitted the Cusco unit. Fiddly to install. Has made throttle blipping so much easier. I was reluctant to get it though because I think it has reduced the value of my car by 20%. At least it isn't anodised blue.

^ This one seems to bring the pedal lower.

^ This seems to imitate the pre-production pedal.

*Never tried them, hell I don't even have an FR-S/BRZ... I just drool @ their pictures all day.*

That said I have used Razo pedals before on my current and previous car. They never fell off, nor will they come off without cutting now that the steel screws are rusted into the aluminum? pedal. Thanks city hall, for all the salt.

I installed the same one. It was pretty fiddly to install, hard to grasp the nuts behind the bolts. But I was successful enough to grab them with some longer bent nose pliers.

The pedal has worked wonders for me. Here's a review video I put up a few days ago:

Slightly off topic but guys with the SRP pedal, how did you get the stock aluminum cover off? There isnt any room to pry the tabs up. Did you just cut them off?

I took the pedal out of the car (easy to do) and pried up the tabs. Unfortunately, I gave up on the SRP pedal this weekend. For me, it was too close to the brake and resulted in a lot of unwanted simultaneous brake-gas situations.
